24.01.2022 Today we celebrated Waitangi Day this special day is held on the 6th of February to commemorate the signing of the treaty of Waitangi - New Zealand’s document on February 6th 1840. The children created some beautiful artwork and enjoyed a special afternoon tea. Instead of egg we used 3 x 1 quarter cup of apple sauce!! Yummy



22.01.2022 Water play is the best way to start the day!! Water play gives our children many opportunities to develop gross and fine motor skills across the ages. Water play is an open ended activity, which allows children to make discoveries, explore and its fun!!!!

21.01.2022 As we endeavour to be a sustainable service we have been exploring ways to add to our ever growing garden. For a few weeks we have been watching a celery stalk to see if this is something we can grow from off cuts from the kitchen! The children have been surprised to see we have some sprouts!!! 21.01.2022 To celebrate NAIDOC week in the Wattle room, the children were invited to participate in dot painting on paper bark, using natural resources. As the traditional custodians of our land, it important that the future generations learn about all the amazing knowledge and attributes that the Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people have given and continue to give.

11.01.2022 We would like to welcome Miss Michelle back from her family holiday. A very big congratulations to Miss Michelle who just became a Grandmother. We would like to welcome baby Tommy to our LEAD family.

11.01.2022 The Educators set up a fun washing baby doll experience in our outdoor playground. This experience has become an absolute favourite with the children. They loved bathing the babies using heaps of soapy water. Our children were role-playing, showing compassion, kindness, scooping, pouring as well as benefiting from the relaxing and repetitive nature of running water. We will definitely be revisiting this experience!

05.01.2022 Mindfulness in the Wattle Room. The children in our Wattle room practice daily mindfulness or yoga before transitioning out for lunch. This is a way to reset our bodies and minds as we prepare for a relaxed mealtime. "Mindfulness develops the whole brain and helps children to understand their emotions and feelings, reducing their risk of mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. Practicing Mindfulness helps children to notice the positives, and develop a sense of appreciation, gratitude and contentment."

04.01.2022 The children here at LEAD Childcare have been busy working on our vegetable garden with the help of Miss Jo and Miss Amy, our childrens cook. Each day the children enjoy checking on our garden teaching them a valuable life lesson. Learning about the world that lives below, healthy eating and physical activity. In time we hope to be able to incorporate what we have grown into our daily menu and some yummy recipes from our families creating our Centre cook book.
