22.01.2022 To express our gratitude for our expert speakers’ time and insights, we make a contribution on their behalf to a WA-based not-for-profit. In 2020, one of the not-for-profits we supported was the Regional Men’s Health Initiative, an organisation that raises awareness of men’s health and wellbeing in rural and remote communities throughout WA. This week they got in touch to show us some of the materials this support contributed to in 2020. Thanks for the update guys! Click here to learn more: https://regionalmenshealth.com.au/

16.01.2022 Yesterday our Alumni were fortunate to hear from Dr James Muecke AM, 2020 Australian of the Year and co-founder of Sight For All, a not-for-profit dedicated to creating a world where everyone can see. Dr Muecke spoke about how adventure and innovation are key factors in social entrepreneurship, which he defined as innovating to provide a sustainable solution to a social problem. And adventure in particular is key! Dr Muecke told the story of working as an ophthalmologist in Kenya, being captured by rebel soldiers in Uganda, and surviving both malaria and dysentery. All of these experiences gave Dr Muecke a background in finding innovative solutions, which he continues to apply in Sight For All. Thank you for your insights Dr Muecke, and thank you Auspire - Australia Day Council WA for helping us organise this webinar.

06.01.2022 As part of our Rising Leadership Program, participants work in teams with local not-for-profits to not only gain experience, but help solve a thorny problem for the not-for-profit. In 2020, our Rising participants helped Perth City Farm with a venue analysis for the event spaces within the complex; Co3 Australia with a research project into technology relating to their work; Sudbury House with a framework for their new Education Hub; and Perth Inner City Youth Service with a successful $16,000 funding application and a bidding template for future applications. Thank you Rising participants (now our latest Alumni) and the not-for-profits! #leadership #leadershipdevelopment

05.01.2022 If there is one thing the COVID-19 crisis has shown, it is the importance of leadership. Yesterday, at The West Australian's annual Leadership Matters event, WA Premier Mark McGowan spoke about the challenges of leading the state through a crisis with so many unknowns, and the importance of clear decision making and decisive action. He also imparted four leadership lessons, which we’d like to share with you now. If you’d like to listen to the speech, follow this link: https://podcasts.apple.com//exclusive-mark-m/id1501795096 Premier McGowan is the Vice-Patron of Leadership WA.
