25.01.2022 A G R E A T Leader takes people where they 'need' to go but might not want to at first ... and helps them see the value it brings to all on the other side. We've seen a bit of that lately in our current global situation haven't we. www.leadershipwithin.com.au

23.01.2022 Leaders with trust issues are the plugs in the process workflows within teams. They are often the micromanagers and often present with burn out and decision fatigue. We are seeing more and more of this emerge in our current climate, as we are all moving in never before seen or experienced economic and social environments. ... When we are already under stress, lacking trust in your team creates a roadblock that suffocates innovation and agility, right when we need them the most. The thing is that trust issues can be overcome. When we understand our behaviours and how others operate, we can start to move forward, create an environment where everyone is in the game, on task and the outcomes can be revolutionary. We work with great people who just need some help to realign their thinking. We CAN HELP. Reach out www.leadershipwithin.com.au

21.01.2022 How many balls are you holding up in the air right now? Look we hear that people who can multitask are some kind of hero or legend. Truth is that when we multitask we reduce our cognitive ability significantly.... If you are working on four things you can only give 25% of your brain-space to each of those efforts. The point is that if you compare the output of someone who is 100% on task to someone who is 25% on task the outcomes speak for themselves. Here's how ... 1. Focus on one task at a time 2. Schedule and stick to it 3. Delegate everything you can Jugglin' just leaves us strugglin' ...

18.01.2022 We know that great leaders are not in it for the role but they ARE in it to ensure they reach the goal. Time and time again we talk to professionals in our coaching and leadership program work, who get so tied up in their role. They forget to focus on what they are trying to achieve and how they are going to craft a path for their team to get there. Great leaders aren't in the game for the title, they are in it for the story behind the title.

14.01.2022 "You don't get paid for the hour you worked. You get paid for the value you bring to that hour." Interesting statement and obviously not applicable to all industries or is it? Thoughts?

14.01.2022 mind congestion ... It's a thing. Right now our brains are on overload with new information that is affecting our work and personal life on a daily basis. Add into that anxiety about the economic future and social future and it spells P R O B L E M.... But just like any problem in life we need to adapt and find solutions to help us deal with where we are right now and what's in front of us. Here is our number 1 TIP .. WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN. Don't rely on your memory to get you through. You might have had an amazing memory pre 2020, never forgetting an appointment or remembering what was said in every meeting. BUT we know now that our brains are filling up, we are now missing deadlines, writing that report and somehow forgetting what we need to say. Keep a diary, take extra notes in meetings, schedule stuff - even down time and that way you will make sure you have a back up should 'mind congestion' sneak up on you and crash your brain 'server'. Promise - even the best of us are feeling this right now.

11.01.2022 Self reflection is actually a hard skill to master. Just like you would practise shooting hoops to get better at basketball you need to practise leadership skills to become a better leader. We often find it interesting when coaching clients on their thoughts on their own performance. So often we look outwards to solve issues or problems when it can be just as important to look inwards. It's another skill to master but once you nail it the benefits come in droves!... What part in that situation did I play? How might I have handled it differently? What could I try next time? It sounds basic but It's not easy to remove the reaction of the other person when analysing your input. Keep practising!

11.01.2022 Decision fatigue. It's a thing! (and even more so right now) Our current work environment and the economic situation has forced our hand to make many more decisions than we would in a normal day, week, month and year.... Here are a couple of tips to help support you through this time 1) meal plan .. I know it sounds ridiculous on this page but it helps we promise!! Make one set of decisions at the start of the week and then just follow through. Don't think about it just follow the plan. 2) Delegate wherever you can ... Yes, there are decisions that only you can make but wherever possible delegate and let go. 3) Plan your 'work-robe' for the week. If you are still in a position of going to work or even dressing for work plan what you are wearing ahead of time so you are not adding a daily decision to your list. 4) Add 'chill time' slots to your diary - Make sure you add downtime to your diary and prioritise it. It will help you regroup and show up rested and ready to face the next set of decisions with a clearer mind. It's hard to plan and make decisions given a set of parameters that we haven't faced in 100 years. One foot in front of the other. You've got this

10.01.2022 Great leaders help us find the keys to unlock the paths we need to go on for success. They don't hand us the colour coded key, stand behind us as we unlock a specific door and make sure we go through it. We need leaders to help us find the freedom and space to thrive if we want organisations to thrive in this environment.... There has never been a time in history when self leadership and management has been more crucial. The irony of it is that most leaders are so entrenched in micro management within a safe and well explored economic environment. These leaders are struggling right now. We have a tool kit to help leaders learn how to better understand themselves and thus better understand their teams, and get better outcomes for their organisations, reaching their targets and goals. If you need a little support we can help. Reach out and let's chat. We have a range of programs that can be personalised based on your needs. www.leadershipwithin.com.au

06.01.2022 We've all heard it's not what you say but how you say it right? Well is that necessarily true... In recent work with a team leader we had the conversation about why the team were not coming on board to new ideas.... After much discussion, we talked about language and how effective or ineffective it can be. Lets look at these two sentences. "I think we should .........." "What if we could ........." First of all there's the I and we all know that there is no i in TEAM but more importantly there's the use of the word should. By removing should and adding a could that immediately changes the reception of the language in your team. The word 'should' feels like you are telling me to do something. The word 'could' feels like you would be open to hearing our ideas about how we can make that happen. Sometimes tiny tweeks help...

05.01.2022 Attention leaders .. You don't have to have all the ideas. You do have to create the environment to ensure all the ideas are heard, so that the best ones take hold.

04.01.2022 Showing up is half the battle. Show up for yourself. Show up for your team.... Let's get today underway ...
