25.01.2022 We absolutely love this example of a community/business (Power Living Adelaide Yoga) courageously celebrating mistakes and welcoming breakthroughs of all kinds! In what ways are you encouraging your team members to own their stuff ups on the pathway to progress and mastery? Remember, the willingness to do so is a hallmark of a high performing team.

25.01.2022 LeadersHP is growing! So fast that we now have a wonderful new office home to accommodate our expanding and dynamic team. We’re also looking for someone with their own special blend of super-powers to join us. So if you, or someone you know, have exceptional organisation skills (and perhaps a love of the game Tetris), can you multi-task across a number of different projects, are an open and effective communicator and could live with Matt’s Dad jokes and Mia’s sometimes cringe-worthy word-play, then check out our job ad on Seek. https://www.seek.com.au/job/52073067

25.01.2022 This is the kind of breakfast you don’t want to miss! Join us next week for a fabulous event to acknowledge Mental Health Week and create some new perspectives for you and your team! Hear stories of hope from keynote speaker Bek Smith (Smith and Wellness and also a much loved LeadersHP Associate) and be guided through a reflective process from Art Therapist Bel Ryan (Ignite Art Therapies) LeadersHP are proud to be sponsoring this event and these incredible women. Organise a... table, get your tickets now and help raise funds for mental health research! We look forward to seeing you there. https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/growing-hope-a-breakfast-se

24.01.2022 Good morning Port Lincoln! Today is your day to have your say! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/EFNHEALTH

24.01.2022 Are you feeling sufficiently recharged? Have you taken some time over the break to ponder the future? Do you intend to make some changes in the way you lead your life and or organization in 2020? Whilst on holidays, we discovered a perfect place to recharge as well as productively consider the future. Overlooking the glorious Normanville Beach is a bench. Like all benches it is a place to take in the view before you. The genius of this bench though, is that it is a Smart Ben...ch, installed by the District Council of Yankalilla, and solar powered to enable you to recharge your mobile device whilst refreshing your mind and body. While recharging there, the Council poses a couple of strategic questions, inviting you to consider the future of the Normaville beach and surrounds, and encouraging you to provide feedback on the Council’s website about what you want to see there into the future and also what you hope will be different. What an inspiring and unique approach to community engagement and visioning for the future! And as these are two services that LeadersHP will be offering across our state and beyond in 2020, we took note. As a team, we’ve also taken some time to sit, recharge and reflect on the past year and what our goals look like moving into 2020. With our calendar already filling up, we will be using the Smart Bench as a metaphor and reminder to ensure we take time to recharge frequently (preferably in nature) and regularly refocus on the vision of the future we want to create for our business, the leaders, organizations and communities we work with. We look forward to sharing our exciting adventures as we slowly but surely return from our festive break!

24.01.2022 Today we commenced our next leadership development program (online) with a number of health leaders. It’s so great to be supporting our health system and the people in it, in particular those who are leading others in this complex time! Our focus for today: self-awareness. Exploring our preferences and differences in teams and relationships.

24.01.2022 We absolutely wholeheartedly love Brene Brown and her work! Matt and Mia recently completed her free ‘Wholehearted Inventory’ and courageously shared their results with the team and we then shared them with you. Today its Sharon’s turn! The assessment highlights your strengths and opportunities for growth (framed as things worth letting go of vs things worth cultivating in order to live and lead more wholeheartedly).... Have you taken the survey yet? Or perhaps you’ve invited your team to take the survey? We would absolutely love it if you’d share your results with us! Stay tuned for Belle‘s results! *please note the red, blue and yellow of Sharon’s t-shirt is to reflect her love of the Adelaide Crows Football club. However I’d like to state the pear has nothing to do with football - it is just a

23.01.2022 Last but not least *drum roll* we are sharing Belle Ellery Wholehearted Inventory! The assessment highlights your strengths and opportunities for growth (framed as things worth letting go of vs things worth cultivating in order to live and lead more wholeheartedly). If you know Belle, it won’t surprise you to see Laughter, Song and Dance as one of her top strengths!... Have you completed the inventory? Were you surprised by any of your results? #justbeeyourself

23.01.2022 We have a sneaking suspicion that RESILIENCE will continue to be a key theme for leaders in 2021. That’s why, over coming weeks, we’ll be introducing you to some of the most resilient people we know. We’ve asked a group of LeadersHP Associates and colleagues to share with us a key take away from 2020, their own intentions for 2021 along with their top resilience tips. First up we’d like to introduce *drum roll please* Dr Clinton McCauley. After suffering a severe back injury... as a teenager, Clinton’s promising career as a competitive swimmer was in question and he was told he would need major surgery or could end up in a wheelchair. This led him to seek the help of a Chiropractor who successfully treated his injury, relieving immense pain. From that moment on, Clinton knew that he wanted to help others in the same way. Immersing himself in Chiropractic philosophy, Clinton came to understand that his recovery had not been merely due to the physical treatment that he’d received. Although he went on to become a Chiropractor for over 25 years, he also became deeply involved in learning about human behaviour, psychology, personal transformation and the power of the mind. His mission became about inspiring others to be the best version of themselves in all aspects of life. For over 15 years, Clinton has offered business and life coaching, facilitated workshops across Australia and presented on stages throughout the world, transforming the lives of thousands of people. Now, as director and co-founder of Planet Personal Growth (www.planetpersonalgrowth), a training organisation that delivers life changing experiential retreats, Clinton and his team help people to thrive in life by awakening them to their personal power. Check out this video in which Clint talks about the importance of dialling-up courage and perseverance to stay the course in tough times, and the importance of consistency in all things, in particular, simple acts of self-care.

23.01.2022 One more sleep!!! Tomorrow Mia Handshin and Gemma Munro join forces for our next LeadersHP Masterclass, Finding Your True Voice! For more info: www.leadershp.com.au/events

23.01.2022 I needed this training 3 weeks ago! was one of the comments we received from a participant in our last online Masterclass. This comment inspired us to reach out to you, our community to find out What is it that you would like us to cover in our next Masterclass? What is it that you need from us? ... Would you benefit from discussing mental fitness tactics, or maybe you want tips on building trust over screens in place of building face to face rapport? Maybe you want to start looking forward and you’d like some tools to help you rebuild after this collective trauma? What ever it is, we want to hear from you! Please comment and let us know!

23.01.2022 What are you grateful for? The past couple of weeks, months well, let’s face it the past year has been nothing short of a roller coaster! Sometimes it can be hard to find the positives, yet we know this is so important. Gratitude has proven potential to be a transformative habit in both your career and personal life. Regardless of who you are or your circumstances, the health benefits of gratitude are undeniable. It provides us with fuel for our resilience tank. Much like... exercise or healthy eating, gratitude is a habit and as with any habit, the key is to create consistent routines and every day practices. The connection and commitment of our LeadersHP team is something we don’t take for granted! To cultivate gratitude within our team we often take time in our meetings to highlight and share what we are grateful for. On a Friday afternoon (or ‘wine down’), this can be looking back at what we’re grateful for from the week, or ahead to what we’re looking forward to. What do you do personally or within your team to show/share what you are grateful for? Do you encourage your team to share their gratitude? 3 tips we offer in practising gratitude: - Focus on every day moments and events - Identify why they matter to you and/or the team - Share them regularly

22.01.2022 During our team meeting on Monday morning Matt Cesaro gifted us with a happi affirmation card each. I (Belle Ellery) pulled this card. It is going to sit on my desk as a reminder till I feel I no longer need it. Such a wonderful way to start the week, giving us each the opportunity to check in with ourselves, each other as well as serving as an uplifting reminder throughout the week! ... Do you or your team participate in any uplifting affirmation rituals?

22.01.2022 We’re excited to be supporting this dynamic leadership team! Co-owners of NIDO, Laura and Max Sharrad and chef David Poole are about to launch an exciting new venture at Fugazzi Bar and Dining Room on 1st May. Matt has been supporting them recently to clearly define their vision for Fugazzi, the team values they want to lead and how they can create the culture they want. We look forward to seeing this vision come into reality and wish them well in their launch.we also look forward to giving their amazing food a try!

22.01.2022 Recently I found myself struggling, I found myself in a hole. In the past I would've told myself to get over it, to move on, to toughen up. I've learnt this isn't helpful for myself or for others. With RUOK day tomorrow, this blog is a timely share of some of my reflections on the topic of self-awareness, self-care, our shadows and letting the light in. Read the full blog on our website: www.leadershp.com.au/post/am-I-ok

22.01.2022 WE HAVE A NEW WHITEBOARD WALL... And there is a lot of excitement around who will be the first to write on the wall... Who will it be? ... Matt Cesaro OR Belle Ellery?! See more

22.01.2022 Matt and Mia spent this morning in Kimba hosting a forum providing an important opportunity for the community to voice their thoughts and concerns regarding the future of their local health services. It was wonderful to see such diverse representation of people passionately coming together to contribute to a better health care system. The online survey is still open - have your say at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/EFNHEALTH

21.01.2022 Courageous vulnerability impacts powerfully on a team dynamic. We spent Tuesday engaged with a group of health sector leaders and asked each to share an internal story which may be impacting on how they show-up in their team. Self-doubt. Fear of judgment. Thinking I have to fix or know it all. It can be tough to share what’s going on inside of us when we assume it’s our job to be holding it together out-there. So we asked our leaders to bring along an everyday item to symbolize their inside-story. To make the subjective, object. There were some significant stories shared and important new insights into each other. This is where inside out leadership starts and what generates new energy in teams. How courageous and vulnerable have your team members been with one another lately?

21.01.2022 Last week we launched a program with health leaders on the Limestone Coast. Our reflections on the experience? Magic happens when people come together. When we’re physically together, mirror neurons in our brain light up, increasing empathy, connection and enhancing learning. We don’t take these opportunities for granted. We need this quality of connection now more than ever.

21.01.2022 Matt recently found himself asking ‘Am I Okay?’. His blog delves deep into why ‘being cool’ comes at a cost, and how he is learning to find his way out of an emotional straight jacket’. 21.01.2022 Bek Smith is one of our associate facilitators, friends and founder of Smith and Wellness among other things. She is passionate about helping people to develop sustainable practices to build and maintain their mental fitness, health and overall wellbeing. As a physiotherapist, fitness instructor, mindfulness coach and group facilitator, Bek integrates and provides mental and emotional health strategies that are based on science, with a style that engages people to reflect as ...well as take action. Bek has recently launched an amazing new online program. Based on neuroscience and psychological research, her program is scientifically valid. It is designed to help you connect and stay connected with others along the way and, with over 20 years of Bek’s hard earned knowledge and experience behind it, you are guaranteed to gain new skills and tools no matter who you are. Bek’s message: during crisis, our state of mind is vitally important. The more mentally fit you are, the better you can respond to help yourself as well as others. 21.01.2022 And that's a wrap! Matt and Mia are enjoying their last day of the consultation tour in Port Lincoln today (and what a beautiful day it is!). Yesterday was spent in Cummins and Tumby Bay inviting the community to share their wants and needs for the new health network strategic plan. ... It has been such an eye opening experience meeting and learning so much about the region and the passionate communities that really want to contribute to a better health care system. Please take 10 minutes to complete the survey (see link below) and share around - the more voices the greater the impact! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/EFNHEALTH

20.01.2022 In this video Mia takes us into her bedroom and asks us to peep over her back fence Very often our external environment mirrors what’s going on within us. It is a valuable leadership skill to read the clues and take cues from the world around us to help us reflect more deeply on what’s happening and how we are feeling about it.... We want to know how have the changing circumstances of the past few months afforded you valuable insights into what’s really going on within you, in your team or organisation? How have you been preparing the ground to construct something new? And what is it that you want to create or renew?

20.01.2022 In the context of leading teams, clarity of context is everything. Our awesome business coach Adam Frampton of Pink Bamboo Business Growth has been skilfully drilling this lesson into us over the past year! Creating a clear context for your team at the start of the year increases understanding, sharpens collective focus and generates an outcome orientation. While strategic plans framed over multiple year horizons often fade into the background, the process of identifying a si...ngle context word each year and displaying it somewhere prominent helps to keep team members aligned and mentally primed for getting you what you want. Yesterday morning, we decided that our word for 2021 is *drum roll* Evolve To evolve is to develop gradually, or to cause something or someone to develop gradually. Our context word for 2020 was expansiveLooking back, we can see that despite the challenges of the year, we set some expansive foundations as a business, explored ways we could be of service more expansively, expanded into new sectors, expanded our team and our community and now it’s time for us to evolve! We’ve spent some time exploring what this word means to each of us and over coming weeks we’ll be applying this context to our planning conversations including asking questions such as: in what ways can we evolve as a team in 2021? How can we evolve our services and the way we are of service? At the end of 2021, how will we know, in real terms, that we have evolved? If you want some help to land your team’s context word for 2021, stay posted because we’ll be following up with some tips and prompter questions over the coming week!

20.01.2022 What an amazing experience with this group of emerging regional health leaders over the past two months including six days of workshops and group coaching. We’ve explored leading with awareness, authenticity and adaptability. This group has showed up wholeheartedly each and every time, it has been such a privilege to support them in their ‘inside-out’ development. When participants are saying this program is a life changer, we couldn’t wish for more.

20.01.2022 Move over Elf on The Shelf Sharon Simonetta surprised us all yesterday with some fun-filled gift giving that gave us all a giggle (except Matt who looks decidedly non-plussed here)! Do you encourage your teams to get a bit silly during the Festive Season? You, know, in moderation of course. Wink. Do you have any traditions or rituals that your team have adopted?... Leave a comment - we’d love to hear about how you are bringing cheer into your final work days for the year!

17.01.2022 Fear is a kind of unintentional storytelling that we are all born knowing how to do. Many of us are experiencing a heightened level of uncertainty right now and we also know this triggers anxiety and fear. Fear is something we may try to ‘overcome, fight or conquer’. What if we were to think about fear differently? Fear is born from our internal storytelling and ‘mental time travelling’. If we are the authors and the readers of these stories, we get to choose how the...y are narrated and interpreted. What if we were to bring as much ‘judgement and realism’ to our fear stories as we do ‘imagination and indulgence’? Check out this great TED talk (11 min) from Karen Thompson Walker on understanding fear, our stories and how we choose to read them. Just like all great stories, our fears focus our attention on a question that is as important in life as it is in literature: What will happen next? https://www.ted.com//karen_thompson_walker_what_fear_can_t

17.01.2022 Merry Christmas! Today is our last day in the office for the year and we wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas! Hoping you get some much needed time to rest and recharge as well as spending quality time with those you love. We thank you all for your love and support this year and look forward to seeing what the new year brings!... Much Love, Matt, Mia, Belle and Sharon

17.01.2022 When @miahandshin is on another zoom meeting which prevents her from attending the morning huddle ... interrupt said other meeting by sending a photo of the rest of the team!! So much love xxx

17.01.2022 This is going to be a conversation not to be missed! There are still a couple of spaces available - follow the link below to grab yours before its too late... If you're unable to attend but don't want to miss out please email [email protected] to purchase a recording of the Masterclass.

17.01.2022 A couple of weeks ago Mia Handshin and Gemma Munro joined forces and delivered a slightly different kind of Masterclass. Finding Your True Voice took us on an adventure of personal stories, valuable tools and powerful reminders. Speaking of reminders, Belle Ellery prepared this sketch note as a summary of the conversation but there was so much goodness that she couldn’t squish it all in!... (Don’t forget you can still purchase a recording if you want to hear it all. https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/118588113239) The moral of the Masterclass story was we all need to start showing up as we are and speaking up from who we really are

16.01.2022 "It's not magic, it's science" - some wise words and a quick practice from Matt Cesaro to help you breathe easy over the weekend.

16.01.2022 Mia Handshin came to work with a hangover this morning... this is her confession. See comments for more information (after you’ve watched the video of course!)

15.01.2022 Knowing our individual and collective strengths as a team helps us to better delegate tasks, improves engagement, psychological safety, performance and overall wellbeing. Having awareness of one another's strengths enables us to bring out the best in ourselves and each other. We highly recommend using the Values in Action survey at (https://www.viacharacter.org/survey/surveys/takesurvey). ... We support teams to take the time to do this quick survey to identify new ways they can leverage higher performance and increase energy levels which can be a valuable exercise at the end of a long and challenging year! Please see the sketch-note for our teams collective strengths!

15.01.2022 We started our business to help leaders navigate complexity and uncertainty. Whether you are leading a team remotely right now or having to adapt the way your team is working in another sense, all of us are leading our lives in dramatically different ways right now. Navigating plenty of complexity and uncertainty! So we wrote and shared this blog post https://www.leadershp.com.au//leadership-in-uncertain-times and published it internally a week ago. Times are changing fast and context is shifting every day. But our community has encouraged us to share our words more broadly. So here we are. Trusting that there’ll still be something of value in it for you. A little nudge. A big reminder. Or some further food for thought. Well wishes and much love from the LeadersHP team x

14.01.2022 The other day we spent the morning working with a group of health administration leaders on team building, leadership and navigating change. A key challenge for this group was feeling overloaded with too much to do. We explored human needs and the brain science behind what can trigger stress at work, as well as discussing the links between burnout and disconnection from others. What the science shows is that when we reconnect with others during times of stress, we actively s...upport ourselves to "reconnect" the part of our brain that helps us to navigate complexity, solve problems and tap into our creativity. So, the next time you are feeling burnt out or overwhelmed, and feel like you don't have time to stop; take a moment to look up from what you are doing, stand up, move and make eye contact with someone, have a conversation and reconnect!

14.01.2022 As the fear fog of COVID rises again, we encourage you to hold the space for yourself, between receiving information about what is happening out there, and how you choose to respond. We invite you to slow down, pay attention to your thinking right now and find the ‘space’ to respond, rather than reacting out of fear, to news updates or getting swept along with other people around you. Question what is true for you, what’s important to you and how you want to show up. This is a core inside out leadership capacity. And we have the opportunity to dial it up right now.

14.01.2022 The illustration we’ve posted summarizing our June Masterclass, paints the picture that it was absolutely overflowing with valuable, thought-provoking and insight producing content. Take a moment right now to focus on the illustration. Notice what words or symbols stand out to you? This process works as a kind of mental-note-to-self from your subconscious. Our eyes are always drawn to what we need to see! And now that you’ve seen the sign-post, pointing you in the direc...tion of exactly what you need to pay attention to in your own leadership at present, what is it that you need to support you to keep working on it? Feel free to reach out to us and make a request. We want to be of service. Oh, and having put you in the picture about our last offering, we invite you to check out our upcoming Masterclass, Finding Your True Voice with special guest Dr Gemma Munro via Zoom on 25 August. Register now https://www.leadershp.com.au/events

14.01.2022 LeadersHP invites you to participate in our first Masterclass, Presenting on Camera and Connecting Online. During this time of physical distancing, we’re all rapidly adapting to meetings and conversations via video conference. We’ve got to do it, but let’s face it, speaking into a webcam and seeing ourselves reflected back on a screen multiple times a day is not something that many of us are entirely comfortable with. Join Mia Handshin and Matt Cesaro along with our specia...l guest Lisa McAskill (former Channel 9 TV presenter and owner of video production company Fever Pitch Films) for this timely 2-hour Masterclass on how to set your body and brain up to communicate on camera with presence and confidence. Delivered via zoom, the Masterclass will offer practical tips and tools to enhance your presence, ease and connection in online meetings, digital presentations and video communication by adapting professional on camera presenting techniques. We want to support you not just to survive in this new context but to thrive in it. This will be a live and interactive event with video playback for those unable to attend. Tuesday 28 April 2020 10.30am-12.30pm AEDT $35 including GST Secure your place ASAP with [email protected]

13.01.2022 Stumbling out of the thick fog of COVID-19, leaders everywhere are trying to get clear about the way forward. While contemplating the time we’ve been through, many of us are considering how to show-up as leaders now and ways to prepare ourselves to navigate crisis and complexity into the future. In an engaging 2-hour Masterclass, Mia Handshin, Matt Cesaro and special guest executive coach and leadership guide Dana Carman will share stories from their work with leaders and... teams while exploring some of the big questions facing many of us, with the intention of offering participants: Opportunity for reflection on recent leadership challenges and lessons learned, Insights on how to thrive in times of crisis and complexity, plus The chance to plot some compass co-ordinates for revisioning the future and finding our way forward with renewed commitment and clarity.

12.01.2022 Once upon a time, There was a business named LeadersHP LeadersHP squished all of their team members into a small room in a shared office space Whilst they all loved this space very much after bumping into each other one too many times... They decided that it was time to find a new home. One of their team members located a lovely old building Oozing with charm and excitedly showed the others It was love at first sight LeadersHP had found their new home. 2/262 Magill Road had space for the LeadersHP family to grow, lovely neighbours and a gorgeous little park just across the road (perfect for lunch time basketball games and ice cream picnics)!!! LeadersHP and their new home have been living happily ever after for 12 months now. Gosh time flies when you’re having fun! They have grown so much together we can’t wait to see what the future holds.

12.01.2022 Mia Handshin and Gemma Munro join forces for a conversation unlike any other! Mia and Gem are such powerful and inspiring women in their own rights with a wealth of lived experience! You don’t want to miss this opportunity to laugh and learn with these two incredible ladies! For more information: https://www.leadershp.com.au/events

12.01.2022 Mia’s first meeting for the week was not in the office. Nor was it on the phone or in a Zoom room. It was a meeting with herself. In nature. We often talk about self-care in leadership. But we believe we need to get bold and start using the language of love in leadership more often. Taking an interest in yourself, taking the time to know your needs and taking the space to meet them is a courageous act of self-love. And it’s vital that we do this in order to serve and lead o...thers more effectively. So take the time this week to go outside on your lunch break. Schedule a walk and talk meeting. And hot tip while you’re out there: look up. Oh and then tell us about it. We’d love to hear how you made time for self-love today

11.01.2022 When we hear the word resilience we can’t help but think of our wonderful associate Rebekah Smith of Smith and Wellness ! Bek is one of the most resilient people we know so we’ve asked her to share a key take away from 2020, her intentions for 2021 along with her top resilience tips. Last week Bek was awarded the SA Woman First Nations Woman In Business Award for 2020! *ROUND OF APPLAUSE* We couldn’t be more thrilled for her! Bek is a speaker and subject matter expert in well...being and psychological health. She has a background and qualifications in psychology, a decade of experience as a physiotherapist, 17 years as a group fitness leader and now works full time as a consultant and educator in mental fitness. As a Master Resilience Instructor for the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute's Wellbeing and Resilience Centre, and their former Lead Trainer, Bek inspires people to think about resilience, mental health and well-being differently. As a Reebok sponsored athlete representing Les Mills Asia Pacific for eight years, Bek is also uniquely positioned as somebody who understands the mental game of peak performance both from a formal learning and an experiential point of view (in other words, she's uniquely sporty and nerdy at the same time!) Next week, we're looking forward to sharing a stage with Bek at the Eyre Peninsula Local Government Association Conference 2021 in Port Lincoln. Check out this video in which she talks about the importance of ensuring your actions are linked with your personal values, practicing mindfulness, daily stillness and emotional mastery.

11.01.2022 Last week Matt Cesaro courageously shared a beautiful blog post Am I OK? https://www.leadershp.com.au/post/am-i-ok Maybe you didn’t get the chance to read the blog in its entirety? Or perhaps it left you wanting more? Belle Ellery is learning some new creative skills on the iPad and decided to create a visual synopsis of Matt’s blog. ... Please see the image below what stands out for you?

11.01.2022 How do we make sense of our experiences? And how do we share them? Through stories. Brain scans show that all parts of our brain ‘light up’ when we hear stories, unlike when we just hear facts and information. After 4 months immersed in the Growing Leaders program co-facilitated by Matt Cesaro and Tanya Lehmann, Manager of Organisational Development, Rural Support Service, SA Health, 30 health leaders spent their final workshop creating and sharing the stories of their experience. As humans we are naturally wired to tell and hear stories. As leaders, stories are such a powerful way to communicate who we are and what’s most important.

11.01.2022 When was the last time you and your team made time for a decent check-in (or as this team would put it, pit stop) to ensure you’re all on the same track about how you want to work together? Too many teams waste time spinning their wheels as a result of unspoken assumptions and unmet expectations. Like any motorsport car, we know that high performing teams benefit from slowing down from time to time, and preemptively fine tuning, so they can speed up with power and endu...rance over the course of the race. Last week Mia spent time facilitating a pit stop workshop with a dynamic group of leaders who form one of the many high-performing teams in the SA Department of Human Services. Over several sessions, the team has been developing a clear vision of who they want to be in 12 months and a set of explicit agreements about how they intend to work together to achieve their vision. They’ve also become clearer about their shared purpose and values and, with our support, are in the process of crafting a Team Charter. One participant mentioned he was feeling surprisingly energized and inspired at the end of a full day’s planning workshop! It’s amazing what a scheduled tune-up like this can do for a team! Want to book one in?

10.01.2022 Is disruptive leadership required during times of disruption? Join Matt Cesaro and Bek Smith of Smith and Wellness next Wednesday for a conversation on conscious leadership and mental fitness. Can't wait to see where this conversation goes! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/conscious-leadership-and-menta

09.01.2022 Matt and Mia visited Wudinna, Cleve and Cowell yesterday. Cowell has had the biggest turn out so far with around 80 people determined to have their say about what the community needs now and for the future of health and aged care. Those who attended yesterday are passionately rallying community members who were unable to get to the Listening Post at the Ivy Care Community Centre, making sure they fill out the online survey. ... Tumby Bay - Matt and Mia are heading your way!! Its your turn to have your say!! Today @ 12:30 - Spencer Street Foodland! If you missed Matt and Mia or cant make it today follow the link below and spend 10-15 minutes having your say: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/EFNHEALTH

09.01.2022 We’re with Arianna Huffington . We also believe that resilience was the defining word of 2020. (Check out her case for this at: https://thriveglobal.com//arianna-huffington-resilience-w/ ) But it’s all a matter of perspective. Iconic dictionaries Collins, Merriam- Webster and Oxford chose to retrospectively define the year by choosing words such as lockdown and pandemic, social distancing, coronavirus and quarantine. How we choose to define what’s happened to us i...n the past has a big impact on how we navigate what’s next. That’s why we love Arianna’s word choice and belief that resilience isn’t [just] about bouncing back, it’s about bouncing forward! It’s about using adversity as a catalyst to get better and become stronger. At LeadersHP, we teach the skills and strategies to support leaders to cultivate resilience. Key to this is honing our capacity to uncover the meaning, learning and growth in even the most challenging of situations. To ask questions: How have you grown as a result of what happened? What new skills have you developed? How could you apply what you’ve learned in the future? When leaders invest in developing and applying a resilience skillset, they have a resilience effect that ripples through the people, teams, communities and systems around them. So resist the temptation to allow some of the more common perspectives on 2020 to cloud your vision. Take a resilience lens and use what has been, to help you bounce forward with renewed strength and clarity of foresight. Ask yourself: how do you want to define 2021? What context word will you and your team choose for the year to come?

09.01.2022 At LeadersHP, we are pretty big fans of Star Wars so when we stumbled across an article by Keith Ferrazzi talking about Yoda and leadership needless to say, he had our full attention! Did you know that conflict avoidance is the one of the leading causes of low engagement, low productivity, attrition of shareholder value and misdiagnosing critical risks in organisational change transformation? According to Keith, colleagues who are afraid to speak honestly to people’s fac...es do it behind their backs. This behaviour exacts a price. He suggests that making like Yoda IS the way to strengthen your team and help grow a successful, open, transparent culture where people feel safe to address issues with courage and candor. Check out the full article to understand the role of a Yoda https://www.linkedin.com//conflict-avoidance-kills-shareh/ You’re welcome. Oh, and may the force be with you.

07.01.2022 We absolutely wholeheartedly love Brene Brown and her work! Matt Cesaro recently completed her free ‘Wholehearted Inventory’ and courageously shared his results with the team. The assessment highlights your strengths and opportunities for growth (framed as things worth letting go of vs things worth cultivating in order to live and lead more wholeheartedly). As a way of further developing our self and team awareness, Matt invited our whole team to complete the survey and share... our results with one another. Inspired by Matt’s leadership in going first, Belle Ellery suggested that we also lead the way by sharing our team’s results with the world. Watch this space as we share each of our results, starting with Matt’s today, as well as some helpful insights on cultivating wholehearted leadership. Hey, and maybe you’ll feel inspired to take the survey and invite your team to do so too. Feel free to share your results with us. Was there anything that surprised you? What steps do you intend to take to cultivate growth? https://brenebrown.com/wholeheartedinventory/

07.01.2022 Holy shit is a phrase that’s been repeated multiple times by various members of our team over the past few weeks. And that’s not just because one of us (i.e. Matt) likes to think of himself as Batman. Nor because of the current toilet paper shortage. Although that situation is getting a little dire here at LeadersHP. We’ve found ourselves whispering it under our breath whilst reading news reports. Digesting updates. Taking in stories being shared by clients and colleagues ...about the impacts they are experiencing. There’s a lot going down right now. 06.01.2022 After a few empty threats... Matt and Belle decided to call it a truce and write on our whiteboard wall together

05.01.2022 Last week we had the opportunity of spending two days working with an amazing team on their collective purpose, identity, strategic vision, values and team dynamic. A key theme that emerged for this organization from the sporting arena clarity rises from uncertainty, confusion and feeling stuck. We can generate movement when we take the time to make sense of our different perspectives. From feelings of frustration and a sense of inertia, we can find clarity and new direction when we are prepared to engage in courageous conversations. We believe that navigating complexity is a team sport.

05.01.2022 https://www.facebook.com/simonsinek/videos/3118558585035434/ - This is how we start our weeks. Every Monday we have a team huddle and check in with one another on a personal level, we ground together, meditate and share uplifts before we start the "work" part of our meeting/day. We find that sharing this time together re-ignites the fire in our bellies for the week ahead. Strengthening our connections with one another is one of the best motivators to kick goals together!

04.01.2022 As we are wrapping up the work year here at LeadersHP, we’ve been considering the gifts of 2020. We appreciate that the notion of this past year having been a gift could be very unpopular. Many of us may have preferred instead, to on-gift this year to someone else entirely! The task of leadership however is mining for the gold in all situations, even the seeming worst or most challenging (including a year that has rocked many of us to the core and left us, at times, with ...more of a sinking feeling!) This quote by Brendon Burchard reminded us of one of the gifts that we’ve all more fully understood and appreciated because of 2020: The most crucial task is to forge more life into your day. This does not mean new to-dos; it means less. It means creating space to think, walk, eat, sleep, read, love, dream. This year has forced us all to rethink the way we live our lives. Brendon reminds us to slow down, cherish the opportunity to pause and find more space to feel more of life, to find ourselves and to reconnect with what matters. Intentionally creating space for less ultimately fuels more creativity, clarity and more effective decision making. As we are heading into the New Year what is it that you want to create in 2021? How has your approach to life and leadership changed as a result of this year? What 2020 inspired habits are you choosing to take into 2021? Comment below and let us know!

04.01.2022 Light bulb moments and verdant pastures <3 thank you for joining us and for sharing Write Lane!

04.01.2022 The rivalry started early in our office! Eagles vs Roosters grand final this weekend and Matt and Sharon are taking things pretty seriously! Who are you barracking for?

04.01.2022 Now this is our jam! We love unearthing a clear and understandable vision/mission statement (or as Simon says: A Just Cause statement) for our clients. And we love what Simon says in this video about the three criteria to ensure your statement leads to more cohesion and less confusion both internally and with your external stakeholders. It’s a good time of year to review strategic statements and we reckon Simon’s checklist could be very useful. Ask yourself, is it:... 1. Resilient Able to endure political, technological and cultural change? 2. Inclusive Open to all those who wish to contribute, inspiring all to make their worthwhile contributions and feel valued for it? 3. Service Orientated Does your cause primarily benefit others? If you are questioning the effectiveness of your vision/mission statement and could do with some help, please reach out! We are incredibly passionate about helping our clients to create compelling, inspiring and visionary strategic statements and, importantly, to ensuring your teams and communities are engaged in the process.

04.01.2022 At LeadersHP we believe that in life and leadership, we learn some things from our experiences but even more so from reflecting on our experiences. Our ability to "make meaning" of what happens to us is a key resilience building strategy and developing a reflective practise is a core leadership skill. We believe in this so much that, as a team, we consistently make the time to engage in reflection on how we are experiencing our work, as well as to share our personal reflecti...ons on how we are each leading our lives. Time and time again, we see how this process of shared reflection pays off by profoundly re-energizing and re-connecting us to meaning. We also believe that everyone's voice is valuable, everyone's story important and that every team member, regardless of their role within an organisation, has a significant gift of leadership to offer. Our Belle (otherwise known as LeadersHP's Business Support Manager or "Alchemist"... because she turns stuff into gold) shared with us, the written reflection piece below. There have been plenty of influential thought leaders who've offered reflections on the meaning that we could all make of this time. We are sure you will have read or heard various of them! As a team, we all felt so moved and inspired by Belle's words, and the meaning we made of them in our own lives, that we felt compelled to share them with you. In reflection, Mia and Matt Directors, LeadersHP Please click the link to read the full article: https://www.leadershp.com.au/post/what-the-rain-reminded-me

04.01.2022 The leader of the wolf pack got this so right! Thank you @ariannahuff for drawing our attention to this fantastic quote by Zach Galifianakis. How often do you rush to rest in the same way that you rush to work? ... Are you leading in a regenerative way? Do you intentionally create space for reflection, recovery and renewal? For yourself and your team? These are all valuable questions to sit with and answers to act on because they’re at the heart of conscious leadership. And conscious leadership is exactly the kind of leadership that we need more of in the world. #consciousleadership

04.01.2022 Have you taken a moment to celebrate your team and their achievements lately? We recently celebrated the first anniversary of our business with a lovely lunch, some wine (in moderation of course), too much cake and even decorations (thanks to Belle and Sharon). But special occasions aside, we make time as a team to acknowledge the ground we’ve covered and the progress we’ve made, each and every week. Our hardwired negativity bias means that unless we make the effort to focus... on the positives, we can easily get stuck fixating on what’s not working or what’s difficult right now. Regularly acknowledging one another, extending sincere appreciation, noticing what’s going well is the glue that helps our team stick together. It’s a foundational practice of high performing teams and sustainable leadership. How sticky is your team-glue right now? #leadershp #birthday #celebrations #sticky #teamglue #leadership #curiousleaders @ Magill Estate Kitchen

03.01.2022 We absolutely wholeheartedly love Brene Brown and her work! Matt recently completed her free ‘Wholehearted Inventory’ and courageously shared his results with the team and we then shared them with you earlier this week. Today its Mia’s turn. Stay tuned for Belle and Sharon’s results next week!

02.01.2022 "The art of communication is the language of leadership." - James Humes When people stand shoulder to shoulder and communicate clearly and calmly it creates a state of balance in a team. This results in clearer expectations, a greater sense of connection and belonging and higher levels of collective achievement.... We’ve enjoyed standing alongside health sector leaders on the Limestone Coast this week for the start of their Growing Leaders program.

01.01.2022 You have shared with us that your most significant leadership challenge at the moment is dealing with big feelings about what’s happening globally and its impact locally. Something we engage in here at LeadersHP is the practice of degriefing which fundamentally is about a leader intentionally creating a safe space for feelings to be expressed and acknowledged. Read more about degriefing in our newest bloghttps://www.leadershp.com.au/post/degriefing

01.01.2022 As a leader, or parent (or both), you’ll be very familiar with the language of complaints. It’s among the most prevalent languages in the world! When working with a group of health sector leaders recently, they shared that this has been one of their biggest challenges of late. And they feel worn down in the face of persistent negativity. Our invitation to them was to attune their listening to the frequency of commitment beneath words of complaint. ... People only complain about things they care about. Apathy is more dangerous than negativity. So, as a leader, the skill of listening through negativity to hear what a person cares about, and reflecting this back to them, with clarity, is essential to building a sustainable and positive culture for your team. For example a common complaint in our small team is that internal meetings frequently get bumped for more urgent tasks. We’ve identified our commitment to flexibility and that we also value following through and being planful. Voicing the complaint and hearing the commitments has helped us to put in place strategies to work together more effectively. If you’d be interested in attending a Masterclass on enhancing your listening skills for more effective leadership, give us a thumbs up in comments below!
