25.01.2022 Onwards and upwards! Our Sovereign Shores residence has now commenced construction. @ Paradise Point

25.01.2022 As Hutchies get closer to the level 16 Penthouse of Cerulean, we are frantically finalising customisation of the Penthouse with a recent purchaser before their slab is poured. #conciergearchitect #designmanagement #interiorarchitecture

24.01.2022 Hope the set out dimensions are all correct Ian?

24.01.2022 From little things big things grow.

23.01.2022 When you have room to sprawl, why not?

22.01.2022 At LDS we relish a design challenge. How to replace this old fibro beach shack on a very small and narrow Palm Beach site with two new dwellings? Stay tuned for the outcome! #designchallenge #goldcoastarchitect #palmbeach

21.01.2022 Site security country style. Well camouflaged, operates day and night, seven days a week. Coincidentally, this giant orb swimming pool could be symbolic of the Tawny Frogmouth’s eyes!

20.01.2022 The first in a new series - "Design Speaks" - presents interviews between home owners and their Architects and can be viewed online. https://vimeo.com/429101568 #architecture #architecture_hunter #architecturaldesign #residentialarchitecture #residentialdesign

19.01.2022 You can lead a horse to water....! We recommended demolition over renovation to no avail. After meticulously stripping out the old house, in the end the client realised it was far simpler to demolish the whole structure and start afresh. Lesson learnt the hard way.

19.01.2022 Transforming a deck desert into a vibrant new outdoor entertaining area. Thanks @jbpoolconstruction.com.au for the great photos. @ Gold Coast, Queensland

19.01.2022 Sadly these entry doors won’t be welcoming any more guests. They are destined for the wrecking ball as a new Gold Coast high-rise is destined to replace this LDS designed home.

18.01.2022 One of the few annual Festivals to have survived Covid, this year's Swell Sculpture Festival was as good as any in the previous 17 years.

18.01.2022 Congratulations to Hutchies for taking out Project of the Year for Northcliffe Residences at this year’s Master Builders Gold Coast Housing & Construction Awards. LDS provided Design Management Services throughout the preconstruction stages, including working closely with the purchaser of the Penthouse to customise their double storey sky home.

18.01.2022 Backlit breeze block lantern will ensure First Light also has night light!

17.01.2022 The devil is in the detail. Many Clients when embarking on the design of a bespoke new home are unaware of the time and effort that is required to comprehensivley detail their project. This ensures every important element is considered and resolved well before construction commences. ... A large and complex project like Chateau de Reves involved a consultant team of well over 20 professionals in a variety of specialist disciplines working for about 18 months to design and document ready for tender, and then several more years to construct. The end result reflects the effort expended by everyone involved. https://vimeo.com/245872703 #bespokedesign #architecturelovers #goldcoastmansion

15.01.2022 Maximising yield with cookie cutter units in a traditional "six pack" isn't always the best use for a medium density site. In our latest project the Developer has opted for two upmarket 3 storey houses instead which also results in a more dynamic streetscape. #architecture #residentialarchitecture #coastalliving

15.01.2022 True carpentry, not a gang nail plate in sight.

15.01.2022 Further to our earlier post, the sale of this early LDS project has now featured in today's GCB. https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au//9c96895158595d08b18a #goldcoastarchitect #residentialdesign #contemporarydesign #timelessarchitecture

14.01.2022 Frame up and flying! @ Helensvale, Queensland

14.01.2022 Havana nearing lockup.

13.01.2022 The ocean views from Firstlight’s ground floor apartments are now evident. Onwards and upwards! @ Kingscliff, New South Wales

11.01.2022 Every Gold Coast home deserves a swim up bar!

11.01.2022 As Cerulean begins to rise above its smaller neighbours we continue to work with purchasers in customising the interiors of their new skyhomes. #conciergearchitect #designmanagement

11.01.2022 Uncanny! @ Tallebudgera Valley

10.01.2022 Level one almost done, three more to go.

09.01.2022 Architecture isn't always limited to the design of buildings, hard landscape structures like swimming pools are often an integral part of the outdoor living environment. On this project the client had unsuccessfully approached a number of pool builders to design and construct a new pool to replace the old and leaking pool before engaging LDS to redesign their waterfront outdoor recreation area. It proved to be a complex design challenge fitting in a twin lane 15m lap pool an...d spa within the waterfront setback zone and addressing flood storage considerations. JB Pool Constructions then did an excellent job in turning the design into reality. https://www.jbpoolconstruction.com.au/bundall2-luxury #goldcoastarchitect #swimmingpooldesign

09.01.2022 Renovation command centre. Adding 2 storeys to this existing single level dwelling will open up impressive city skyline views.

09.01.2022 Finally the DA is approved and we can begin construction of the long awaited O’Brien’s Lodge! @ Tallebudgera Valley

07.01.2022 Tall and skinny requires good structure.

07.01.2022 Sometimes there is a fine line between renovation or full demolition. @ Helensvale, Queensland

06.01.2022 Havana - waiting for the steel portals.

06.01.2022 Further to our annual blogs on architectural design trends, this article supports the shared direction residential interiors are also taking. https://www.archdaily.com//interior-design-trends-that-wil? #designtrends #architecture #interiordesign

06.01.2022 A bit of retro mixed with some nautical, the design of our new 5 storey residence at Tugun is progressing well.

05.01.2022 Bring on summer!

05.01.2022 Another early LDS project on the market. @ Surfers Paradise, Queensland

05.01.2022 Summer living, no doubt this pool will get plenty of use in the months ahead.

04.01.2022 The ability for Architects to convey their design vision to Clients is critical in ensuring a successful outcome. Hand drawn perspectives and watercolour presentations have long been replaced with computer generated imagaes - CGIs. Advances in photo realistic rendering now often make it difficult to tell the difference between CGIs and reality as some of these examples illustrate.... https://www.archdaily.com//renders-vs-reality-projects-fro #photorealisticrenders #architecturalvisualization

02.01.2022 Another client falling in love with their virtual new home.

01.01.2022 Dealing with such large timber members requires a little mechanical assistance.

01.01.2022 Architectural photography requires quite a different "eye" to landscape or portrait photography. These examples illustrate how important careful composition is in creating context for the architecture. https://architizer.com//one-photo-challenge-2020-competit/ #architecturalphotography #architecture #photography

01.01.2022 A grand arrival lets you know you've made it!
