25.01.2022 We're hard at work on Gosford's Leagues Club Field! Central Coast workers are using local materials to shape the landscape, dig the tidal pool and create the play space mounds. See more at http://bit.ly/GosLCF

23.01.2022 The first set of timber poles are being installed at Leagues Club Field today. More will be added in the coming weeks, forming the park's cultural hub. More at hccdc.nsw.gov.au/leagues-club-field

22.01.2022 It was great to have Adam Crouch MP Member for Terrigal tour the site today!

21.01.2022 BUILT BY LOCALS Landscape Solutions Project Manager and Central Coast local Craig Mostyn is excited to help create Leagues Club Field Gosford - a world-clas...s public space, in his own community. I’ve lived on the Central Coast for four years now, after working on projects from the Northern Territory to Tasmania. The fortunate thing about my job is that I enjoy every project as much as the next. They all have their different challenges, some little and some large, but it’s the different people we get to work with every time that enable us to overcome those particular challenges. Building relationships with clients and stakeholders, and exceeding their expectations has always been a front-line focus of mine throughout my entire working career. The exciting part is, I get to build a team of people to turn someone's idea into reality. The cultural injections on this project will make this even more pleasing, and to hand over such an influential park to the community will be great. Visiting this park post-construction and seeing the faces of the community enjoying it will be our greatest reward. hccdc.nsw.gov.au/leagues-club-field

20.01.2022 It's a very low-tech approach to blackening the wood at Leagues Club Field!

20.01.2022 Get a birds eye view of the progress on Leagues Club Field, coming later this year in Gosford!

19.01.2022 The sun is shining in Gosford, perfect for checking out some of the landscaping underway in Leagues Club Field. Here you can see the transplanted palm trees and jogging track, as well as what will eventually become the play area and tidal pool http://bit.ly/LCFGosford

19.01.2022 A few more pics of Leagues Club Field's amazing Aboriginal art poles. Once the remaining poles are added, they will form a circular performance space in the tidal pool, based on a traditional dance ground.

18.01.2022 Adam Crouch MP Member for Terrigal got our "Give us a hand" activities underway today. We're inviting local school kids to send an outline of their hand print to be painted onto our totems by an Aboriginal artist. DM us to get your school involved!

17.01.2022 You may have noticed palm trees being removed and relocated on site this week. Some of the trees that were to be transplanted in Leagues Club Field are infected with a fungal disease and, along with adjacent trees, are being removed to prevent the spread. Where possible, we’ll keep the iconic trees and incorporate them into the design. We’re still planting more than 800 new trees and thousands of plants as part of our nature-inspired play space. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue construction on this important project for Gosford and the Central Coast.

17.01.2022 Once Leagues Club Field is completed, vehicles will be able to drive on, and park along, an extended Baker Street. The pedestrian-priority shared zone will link Georgiana Terrace with Vaughan Avenue.

17.01.2022 A mock-up of one of the smaller sandstone animals for Leagues Club Field's tidal pool is being created in Sommersby! The designs for these interactive sculptures are based on actual rock carvings at the Bulgandry Art Site Aboriginal Place, near Kariong. 15.01.2022 Watch as local artists from Studio2 craft the hardwood totems and Gavi from Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council applies the traditional designs. These totems share the stories of the Central Coast's Aboriginal people and will soon form a cultural centrepiece at Leagues Club Field, Gosford. A big thanks to all the Central Coast schools that provided the amazing hand stencils! More at hccdc.nsw.gov.au/leagues-club-field

13.01.2022 Today's aerial shot gives us a sneak peek at how the tidal pool will look! It will soon be populated by sandstone islands and a community space, inspired by local rock carvings and an Aboriginal meeting place.

13.01.2022 A short drive from Gosford is Bulgandry, a sacred indigenous art site rich in rock carvings. The amazing carvings are over 200 years old, with many believed to be 10 times that age. They depict Baiame, the creator, as well as fish, a dolphin, wallabies, a canoe and a bird. Some of these sea creatures are being recreated in sandstone in Leagues Club Field and will eventually form islands in the tidal pool. Sculptors will be on site to hand-carve the stone, so watch this space for more updates coming soon!

12.01.2022 The Gosford shoreline looked very different 100 years ago - much of the land now occupied by Leagues Club Field and Central Coast Highway was part of Brisbane Water! Land reclamation in the early 20th century saw new soil deposited on the site to create more usable space. The coastline of 1919 has been re-imagined in Leagues Club Field, with the main walking route through the park following the path of the original shoreline hccdc.nsw.gov.au/leagues-club-field

12.01.2022 This update shows some of the transplanted palm trees, the sandstone amphitheater seating and the foundations for the Aboriginal totems.

12.01.2022 The Leagues Club Field play area is taking shape, with the 'fishing net' now being built!

11.01.2022 Plants are popping up all over Leagues Club Field!

09.01.2022 The Leagues Club Field tidal pool is taking shape, with the remaining art poles now installed and waterproofing underway. Next up is the carving of sandstone animal 'islands' that will be covered and exposed with each tide! More at hccdc.nsw.gov.au/leagues-club-field

09.01.2022 Central Coast artists are hard at work carving the Aboriginal totems to be installed in Leagues Club Field's community gathering point. Each of the larger poles represents a nation of the region's First People, and will be painted and illuminated ready for installation in the coming months.

08.01.2022 It just got a bit greener at Leagues Club Field! Turf has been laid and the first saplings are being planted

08.01.2022 It's another stunning winter's day in Gosford! Our new time lapse camera angle gives the perfect view of the tidal pool.

08.01.2022 A big thank you to the local primary students who sent us hand prints last week! We're busy using them to create stencils that will be painted onto the Aboriginal totems, coming soon to Leagues Club Field

07.01.2022 Nothing to do with construction, but how stunning does Leagues Club Field look by night? #nofilter

07.01.2022 BUILT BY LOCALS In almost 20 years living on the Central Coast, STUDIO2's Jamie Sargeant has made quite a name for himself. His nature-inspired public art already adorns spaces in Gosford, Erina and Wyong, with Leagues Club Field the next big project. "We worked on the engineering and workshop drawings for the play pods, and we’re building the hardwood totems, the ‘European boat’ piece and the ‘fish trap’ play equipment. I love the shapes and scale of the play structures ...in Leagues Club Field, and the visual impact of the totems. This scale of project works wonders as a community attraction and should become an emblematic piece of local infrastructure. This is a wonderful site for an outstanding design and will be a great view as you come into the Coast across the bridge. It feels like the Central Coast is undergoing a radical transformation and finally embracing its real potential." See more of Jamie's work at studio2play.com . 06.01.2022 Much of Leagues Club Field's design is inspired by the local Aboriginal people and their relationship with the region. This rope play equipment takes inspiration from a traditional fish trap, reflecting the site's significance as a fishing spot.
