25.01.2022 Covid has really shook the wedding industry. I’ll be bold and speculate that it’s possibly the hardest hit industry. Within a week we lost 6 months of weddings. Half a years income gone. Not to mention I’d just bought a property to build my dream studio on. So many tears were cried. But some great things happened too. I’ve always had a desire to teach my skills. I’ve never been one to guard my knowledge and be competitive. It’s in my soul to help people and I love seeing ...people thrive. So after I cried and stressed and cried some more, I realized I had an opportunity in front of me. I suddenly had the gift of time. And that allowed me to chase a dream. As much as I adore doing weddings and will never stop creating magical days for couples. I was able to put build a little side hustle mentoring and teaching florists. At first I thought it was ballsy, and who’d want to learn from me? But I did it anyways. And it’s been freaking amazing. I ran my first design workshop for florists and seeing it sell out in 24 hours blew my mind. I couldn’t believe people wanted to learn from me. I’m my own worst critic. But I did it. And hey maybe once weddings kick back in and I’m running on coffee and flowers again, I won’t have time to run workshops... but I ticked that off. I wanted to achieve something and so I just bit the bullet and did it. And it was freaking amazing! Don’t ever give up on your dreams. 23.01.2022 MEET THE TEAM So you know alllll about me Cos I’m a classic over sharer, but I felt it was time you met some of the crew! This is Sara. She brings the rock and roll to Leah Mitchell Floral. She literally jumped on board in the middle of the madness of an epic wedding season and I’m not sure she ever recovered from the shock. But she got stuck in and took it all in her stride. I’m a pedantic perfectionist and I can’t say I’ve ever seen her roll her eyes yet! ... She wears a different pair of killer shoes everyday, rocks glitter eyeshadow like no ones business and has some epic tattoos. And her husband looks like a legit Viking. No joke. She adores him. It’s super cute. At work when I absolutely crack it, kick the bin and burst into tears after everythings gone wrong, Sara is always there with kind words and a hug. And then she brings cupcakes to work to make me happy. Bless. She’s the queen of organization, I’ll mention under my breath I need candles packed and she’s got them counted, packed and labeled. She’s such a gem. Nothing is ever an issue. So that’s Sara! She’s such an asset to my business and a great friend too. We’re a little family here and she’s the cool sister. 19.01.2022 I’m so lucky to have a fabulous team working with me. Especially for days like this pic. I was so looking forward to creating this magical space for our couple, but fell quite unwell the week before. I’d been to hospital with peri orbital cellulitis and told if it flared again I was to head straight back to hospital (it’s an infection of the eye socket and can spread to brain if left untreated). Of course it flared the morning of this wedding . I called our couple and explai...ned the situation, they were so understanding - the bride was a Dr and urged me to get to hospital. So my team headed off with a list of instructions a mile long. They FaceTimed me on site and sent a million pics. If I didn’t have an amazing gang of florists on hand it would of been a tough day! 06.01.2022 I’ve had a lot of feels today. Felt a bit down, sad for my couples. We had an end in sight and it seems to be changing daily. And to be honest I’m really really missing work. There is of course the worry about finances and jobkeeper running out, but it’s weighing heavily on me the lack of routine and everything I know. I’m one of those lucky people that actually really loves their job. I love the excitement of the flowers arriving, creating bouquets that a bride will carry on... the biggest day of her life. Making epic arbours for lovers to stand under. Climbing ridiculous heights cos I just wanna put one more rose in that hanging installation. I miss the chatter in the studio, talking about what we cooked for dinner and wondering if we should chuck our salads and get ubereats. I miss the other vendors. The photogs, celebrants, makeup artists, hairdressers and venue owners. The hugs and support they give. We’re really a little family this industry and I’ve missed their faces. I’ve missed the mess, the late arvo glass of wine when we’ve had an epic day. But most of all I’ve missed my couples. The connections I’ve made with them in the lead up to the wedding. Seeing a brides face light up when the bouquets arrive and it sinks in- the day is here. My business is my identity, it’s a part of me and my baby. I put my heart and soul into it. Tomorrow is a new day and I’m sure I’ll feel brighter. But today was hard. To my couples, I’m thinking of you all. We’re all in this together. Remember love is greater than this virus. See more

05.01.2022 COVID WEDDING! Mikahlia and Tom originally had a big bash for 100+ guests planned for their special day... until a global pandemic took that away. But they decided to power on and change it up. Rather than postpone, they decided to just have their family attend - 18 people. And let me tell you it was one of the most special weddings I’ve worked on. Just so much love around. Mikahlia had originally chosen a crisp white and green colour palette, but then spotted a bright... bouquet on my insta. With Matt from @theevokecompany shooting, I knew bright was the way to go. As much as there wasn’t a huge amount of guests, there was an abundant amount of flowers. 04.01.2022 How gorgeous is this rain! It reminds me of the day we had a beautiful Ravensthorpe wedding with similar weather... We were the last car through flood waters before they closed the road. We got soaked to our skin unpacking the van and had to pull apart amazing hanging installations as it was to windy to hang them. We weren’t sure how guests were going to arrive, roads were closing everywhere and Sheridan and I rang our husbands to say we might be camping out at the venue.... Our bride Brittany was an absolute trooper and told us to just do what we could. So we quickly pulled all the hanging installations apart, remade them to feature pieces and the day went ahead! This is why you need a great team of vendors on board. Everyone involved with this wedding hustled hard to make it a magical day despite the weather.
