25.01.2022 Calories dont count on Christmas! Merry Christmas everyone xx
25.01.2022 It’s been a while since I’ve posted but this is too important not to share. Make sure you speak to your GP about the length of time to take an antibiotic in order to protect your micro biome. https://www.australianpharmacist.com.au/new-cal-d-instruc/
25.01.2022 People often think anxiety is something they should be able to notice in others. Parents often tell me, I would know if my child has anxiety. They would be shaking and look worried all the time. This isnt always the case. Anxiety can manifest in many ways and some of the ways that are less obvious are listed in the post below. Such as being overly detail orientated or having intense, seemingly random outbursts.... This article serves as a reminder to always be kind to others. They may be going through something you are unaware of. https://www.powerofpositivity.com/7-signs-someone-high-fun/
23.01.2022 Its so hard as a parent to not try and FIX everything for our teens. We want to help and try to always have the answers when often, all our kids want to do is vent.
23.01.2022 I know which one I would be stockpiling! #australiagonemad #vitamincforimmune
22.01.2022 Have you gone outside tonight? The wolf full moon is amazing!! Do yourself a favour and go and bathe in the moons glory tonight xx
21.01.2022 Maybe this is a sign I need to learn how to read tea leaves!
21.01.2022 It feels this way at the moment. I spent a whole month before summer telling everyone who follows me how to achieve your goals. How to set them, how to stick to them and how to celebrate achieving them. Now, most of my new year goals are less important as everything is cancelled. Im not upset, Im embracing the uncertainty. Its actually been a huge relief to realise that nature has taken over for a little while. Nature has developed a virus thats made us ALL feel vulnerable.... It isnt discriminating between races and social or financial status. It may have seemed ageist at the start but with the death of a child recently, weve learnt not to assume we know its limits. And thats another thing, we dont know its limits. We cant accurately predict when this virus will end or how many people it will hurt along the way. We are in its hands at the moment. So if this is the case, why am I not all doom and gloom? Because I am just merely me. I dont have the answers so adding unnecessary stress would not be helpful for myself or my family. I have survived horribly hard times and I will survive them again. What is the other option? There is none, so why panic. Instead, I am choosing to be grateful. I am grateful for my beautiful children who I now get to spend more time with. I am grateful to be one of the lucky ones who has kept her job. I am grateful for the four years I spent studying naturopathy to know how best to protect my family. I am grateful for the people who do have to worry about how to keep everyone safe and make the tough decisions such as closing down businesses. I am especially grateful for science who is currently spending day and night trying to map this virus and keep us safe. Thank you, thank you, thank you. And to show my gratitude I am doing as you asked and cancelling my plans by staying at home unless its to get food, work or exercise. I am washing my hands and keeping my distance from others. We are all in this together. Cancel everything and we will get through this xx
21.01.2022 Here is a simplistic explanation about the coronavirus and general ways to support your immune system. As school returns this week, supporting your immune system is very important and easily done with a few small diet and lifestyle changes. Herbal medicine is an amazing tool of support. If you would like an individually tailored immune plan, please give me a call. http://worldnaturopathicfederation.org//Cornoa_Virus_WNF_J
20.01.2022 Tonight I saw an extraordinary movie. It is called In my Blood It Runs. Its the story of a young Aboriginal boy who struggles to be a part of the western education model. Dujuan is also a healer who uses Bush medicine and the healing gifts given to him by his grandfather. Dujuan highlights the struggle to fit into a one size fits all type model of education when you have other gifts that arent valued. My hope is more people can see the movie and open the conversation aro...und the value of cultural diversity as well as not loosing the amazing knowledge of Bush medicine healing. Please watch the trailer and if you can get to a screening I highly recommend it xx https://m.facebook.com/inmyblooditruns/
19.01.2022 How has the first two weeks of the new decade turned out for you? Are you still on track with your goals or are you totally overwhelmed by outside forces like this fisherman? sometimes all the best intention in the world doesnt prepare you for reality... you can set goals but be prepared that a lot is out of your control we are sometimes faced with challenges to achieving our goals to ensure we really want them. If they were easy we never would appreciate what we have achieved the journey to achieving your goal will open many doors of possibility for you. Find the beauty along the way and look out for signs youre on the right track. Just like this fisherman. Im certain hes chosen a healthy spot to fish if the waiting birds are anything to go by!!
19.01.2022 Who needs Christmas presents when you get to open new liquid herbs! #loveliquidherbs #bestpresent #merrychristmas2019
19.01.2022 I love New Years Eve. Not because its a party night, but because its the closing of a chapter with the promise of a new beginning. Tomorrow I will set new intentions for the year ahead but tonight I reflect on the year that was. And as we are closing out a decade, I will reflect on that as well. I am so proud of everything I have achieved these past 10 years. Sure Ive had massive heartache and loss, but Ive also had something even better, I found myself. I am becoming... who I truly am meant to be and that is exhilarating! I stand here tonight lucky enough to be feeding my horse Blondie and my thoughts go to those who do not have that luxury. We mourn with Mother Nature and our brothers and sisters who face loosing their properties and livestock by fire here in Australia, we trust and hope that the closing of this chapter happens soon for you. Take care everyone on this last day of 2019 and welcome 2020. We are anticipating great things from you xx
19.01.2022 Im sure my creativity is in here somewhere! What have you chosen to do in quarantine that you havent had time for in a while? Are you using this time to finally have a go at all those projects you never had time for with school sport, extra travel time to and from work, shopping and socialising commitments? #coronavirus #quarantine #stayhome
18.01.2022 Omg I love it! Don’t forget good old soap and water kills germs efficiently too.

17.01.2022 Find beauty everywhere. Can you guess what this is? If you walk around with a negative frame of mind looking for mud all you will find is mud. If you walk around looking for flowers to make you smile, you will find them in the most surprising places xx

17.01.2022 Having children of different ages, its often hard to find something to do as a family. But board games are always a hit in our family. This is a great list of games that will hopefully still keep my teenagers interested xx
16.01.2022 Do you still remember the goals you set a few months ago? As the year wraps up, are they still the same goals or have your priorities changed? Its ok to change your goals because as life changes so does what is important to you. One thing that doesnt change is our desire to be happy. Its not possible to be happy all the time but if you do more of what you enjoy, youll be able to get through the hard stuff easier. Are your goals going to make you happy? #happy #goals #goalsetting #naturopath #2020 #oxley #brisbanecity #kijana #clinicalnaturopath
16.01.2022 I wonder if iridology works the same on animals as it does on humans? Eyes are truly fascinating
14.01.2022 Love my tribe that lifts me up and supports me daily. Thank you for being there for me xx

14.01.2022 Walking into 2021 with the light of a rainbow that goes up with no end in sight. No expectations. Just open to continuing to help others. #happynewyear #2021
14.01.2022 Australia is on fire and its out of control. There is devastation to our wildlife, people and property and the effects are far reaching. You dont have to live in a fire ravaged town to feel its effects. We were kilometres away from fires here in Brisbane yet our house was filled with smoke, our eyes watered and nose stung. For those closer to the carnage, the health impacts are worse! What can be done to lessen the impact on our health?... Keep all windows and doors closed when the smoke is thick. Keep hydrated Use saline nasal sprays and eye drops N-acetyl cysteine has been shown to help with smoke inhalation injury. Always seek medical attention if you are feeling unwell and please stay safe xx

10.01.2022 As we try to remove plastic from our lives, heres some ideas to reuse what you currently have instead of throwing it into landfill
10.01.2022 We always have to look on the bright side! With the government trying to flatten the curve, most sporting events have now been cancelled for the near future. While this is upsetting to some, like my children, I choose to look at the positives. I havent been able to open on a Saturday due to baseball for a few months but now I can and have opened up my books! You can also book an online or phone consult and I offer acute consults of just 30mins for that quick advice. Wheth...er its questions about staying healthy during these times or something else health related, I am here for you. Naturopathic medicine is preventative medicine. While others are panic buying pasta and toilet paper , Ive been stocking up on vitamin C and herbal immune teas. I guess we all face a pandemic differently To book, head over to my website Kijana.com.au Yours in good health, Leah xx
09.01.2022 Well there is a first for everything. Today Im updating my first aid certificate in a pub!! Dont stress, I gotchu #naturopath #firstaid #cpr
09.01.2022 I love this description of what I do. Don’t get me wrong,I would love to wave my magic wand and fix everyone’s problems. But hunny, first I would be fixing all of mine I don’t want you to think I’ve got my life completely in order. It’s more as if you’re climbing your mountain over there and I’m climbing my mountain over here. It’s not as if I’ve reached the top and I’m having a rest. It’s just that from where I am on my mountain, I can see obstacles on your mountain that you can’t see. So I can point those out to you, and maybe show you some alternative routes around them. (Harris, 2006, p.8 )

08.01.2022 Absolutely love this! Stolen from my friend Robyn xx

04.01.2022 Love this. Please teachers, just ask what your student needs to feel safe at school xx
03.01.2022 Today is the day some students rejoice and some students dread. The first day back to school. It can be a time of excitement to see your friends again and also of apprehension meeting your teachers for the first time. Whatever the day you had today, remember not every day will be like this one. Find the light in every day. It may be hard sometimes, but it will be there. Wishing you all a great year xx
03.01.2022 With self isolation becoming the new norm, it’s time to adapt. As I work long hours and am offering online consults most nights, online shopping is the way to go. Here is a company that will do some of the staples delivered to your home. Don’t get caught in buying junk food to stock your cupboard! Buying frozen veg, meat, rice, legumes and spices will help you make many nutritious meals for your family. There are also companies such as the Spray Free Farmacy that will ...deliver your fresh fruit and veg. Now is the time to experiment with cooking and teach our children how to cook as well. Take turns cooking a meal each night. Children that are home from school have plenty of time to research a recipe with some of the staples you have bought. If you find a great recipe I would love you to share! I’ll do the same. If you would like an online consult, please book online at www.kijana.com.au Stay safe xx
02.01.2022 Yesterday I closed a door that was comfortable. It has served me well but now its time to say goodbye and move forward. In April 2018, while in my final semester of my bachelor degree, I started working at the local health food store. I felt I needed more experience with retail brands. I had been taught all about practitioner brands and formulations but I didnt know what the best toothpaste was, shampoo, body and cleaning products etc. My 20 months working there has been... amazing. I met some fabulous clients, worked with amazingly supportive people and had the pleasure of working close to home. Well yesterday it was time to say goodbye. I will still be working as a naturopath in my clinic, Kijana! But I will also be working 3 days a week with disadvantaged children in a government position. I feel a calling to help as many people as possible in this life and I am lucky enough to have learnt the skills. In order for true change to occur, you must start with our most vulnerable. I still look forward to working with my current clients and new ones Im yet to meet. Merry Christmas all xx
02.01.2022 Helping others is a calling that most people get, don’t forget to listen for yours. Now more than ever we need to be there to help each other xx #naturopath #helpingothers
02.01.2022 Focus on the why. Today I have been talking a lot about making lasting changes. People come to me and say I want to lose weight, I want to quit smoking, I want to be healthier. All fantastic goals. But I want to know why. Why do you want to lose weight, quit smoking, be healthier? The why is THE most important question to ask yourself because this is your motivation for change. If you dont have a strong why then you may fall at the first hurdle. ... When I lost 54kgs my why was to be able to play with my son. When I quit smoking it was the fear of my kids seeing me smoke. When I chose to be healthier it was to learn strategies to then teach my children. See a common theme here? My children are my why. Whats yours? xx
01.01.2022 My opening hours have changed for 2020. Bookings can be made on my website. Link in profile xx

01.01.2022 The last point will give you iron overload. Dont do that. Instead, walk away.
