24.01.2022 There are a couple of ways to book your furbaby in at Leahs Grooming Salon: 1) Scheduled Appointments - if you have a particular time that suits you to get your dog groomed we can schedule them in regularly over a 6-12 month period. This will ensure your dog stays looking fabulous all year round and you wont have to spend time organizing appointments. 2) Rebook on pickup - when you pickup your dog we can discuss the best timeframe to get them in next and organize an appoint...ment that suits 3) Call, or message to book your dog in at the earliest convenience. We at Leahs Grooming Salon understand that not everyone has regular schedules they can work around. If this is you feel free to contact us by phone or Facebook and we can organize an appointment. Please be aware though that we may not be able to book your dog in as soon as you would like. If you have any questions feel free to post them below. I hope everyone has kicked off 2020 with a bang. 06.01.2022 In light of the current COVID-19 Pandemic we have changed some of our procedures to reduce potential transmission between clients, myself and my family. Leah's Grooming Salon will endeavor to stay open as long as possible and this will be helped by all customers following the below procedures: 1) The gate is now self closing so please minimize contact and open it with your foot or elbow. When exiting you may need to handle the gate, this will be disinfected with Glen20 after ...each client exits the premises. 2) A new dog drop off and pickup area has been setup inside the gate. Please place your dog in the pen or crate and take off any collars, leads and/or harnesses and take them with you. 3) When coming to collect your dog, a tap and go payment system will be ready for you. Simply turn on the phone located in the pickup area and tap your card on the square reader when it displays a single green light. Again all surfaces will be disinfected upon your departure for the next client. CANCELLATIONS / RESCHEDULING No cancellations fees will be charged during this time. If you have been advised to self isolate or are experiencing any cold or flu like symptoms please contact us to cancel your appointment. Rescheduling options will depend on government advise and restrictions at the time. A $20 No Show fee will still apply as it is common courtesy to let me know if you can't make it so I'm not waiting around for clients. If Leah's Grooming Salon is required to close for any reason we will contact clients individually to cancel affected appointments.

02.01.2022 What's in a matt? Each year as warmer weather approaches groomers are often faced with clients that want longer coats on dogs that have been left all winter with coat that are unfortunately matted. So what's the big deal? Why do groomers have an issue with matting? Unfortunately it's not just knotty hair. Apart from the knots constantly pulling on their skin they can cause some serious health issues requiring visits to the vet:... 1. Grass seeds are great at hiding in matts and once they work their way through to the skin they'll keep going. You'll never know they're there until the matt is removed and you can see the inflamed hole in their skin. 2. Ear infections and skin infections are common with dogs that get matted as there is decreased airflow to the skin and ears. You might find this is not so much an issue if your dog is young but as they get older, fighting off infections get harder. 3. In extreme cases matts can actually cut off blood circulation, more often if the ear is encased in matting, blood flow is restricted and once that matt is removed the rush of blood back to the area can cause a big blood blister that can burst if not drained by a vet. Regular grooming is so important to the health of your pets so keep them warm and healthy over winter with regular visits to your groomer and avoid those unnecessary vet visits.
