18.01.2022 Bench press with an arc or not? Before getting into this, ANY movement first needs to be safe and then ideally stable. The shoulder joint is not stable. Yes its a ball and socket joint but its more like a golf ball on a golf tee Its the role of ball your back muscles to stabilise that joint. If they dont, well dont expect to have a shoulder that moves well.... The best way to recruit the muscle that stabilise the shoulders are to pull the shoulders back and down. Then hold them together in place otherwise youll end up smashing the inside of your scapula against the bench. And be unstable. When you pull your shoulders down, were activating the lat muscles. 17.01.2022 The best glute/hamstring exercise in all the land My experience is whatever your weakest point is, thats where youre going to feel this the most. Couple things Im focusing on; - crunching and squeezing my abs as tight as possible - pulling my heels and toes up as hard as possible... - keeping a constant contraction in my glutes. If your hamstrings really really suck youll end up feeling this in your calves instead. Hence pull those toes right up. This can of course also be done of a 45 degree hyperextension. 16.01.2022 This is a cable face pull. The exercise is done for the external rotation component which is a big link that is missed in the majority of upper body training. I hope for every pushing exercise you do a pulling exercise, which is awesome and what you should do! However both the pecs and lats are internal rotators of the shoulder joint meaning that to much pushing and pulling and youll end up with that look like your carrying shopping bags under your arms.... The missing link to not make you look like another gym bro with skinny calves is external rotation. This is my favourite way to hit external rotation as it stabilises the scapula which the external rotators attach to. Yay go anatomy. 04.01.2022 Think of your muscles as rubber bands. Without any real strength your rubber bands are just going to be the small and skinny like the ones youd flick at your friends. They dont stretch real far, nor will anyone be concerned with get hit by one.
