21.01.2022 "Like an iceberg, the bulk of behavior’s mass is found below the surface; it is what gives rise to the part that is visible. Behavior is triggered from feelin...gs, which stem from the more deeply rooted needs of a person. These are not needs like, I need candy/ I need a new toy/ I need to play video games. Basic human needs consist of things like autonomy, safety, security, trust, empathy, understanding, adequate sleep and nutrition, a sense of belonging and inclusion, competency, respect, and love." https://parentingfromscratch.wordpress.com//behavior-is-a/

17.01.2022 Its been a long time since I thought about it but I started singing with my dad at a very young age ... :) Our singing wasn't quite as fun-based as this video - later on my sister and dad and I worked as a dance band for quite a few years and I didn't enjoy it much by the time I was a teenager .. but I realise now that my dad enjoyed singing with my sister and I, just like this dad enjoys doing so with his little girl ... Wish I had realised when I was young .. What a great musical start my dad gave me ... Unbelievable that it is almost 20 years since he passed away ...

13.01.2022 Do you have concerns about a child's physical development? Do you know when to refer for further help or guidance? The Red Flags Early Identification Guide supp...orts conversations with parents about developmental concerns and developing a plan of action to obtain a more detailed developmental screen and/or assessment. What is the Red Flags Early Identification Guide? The Red Flags Early Identification Guide (for children aged birth to five years) is a health resource for professionals (including general practitioners, child health nurses, allied health professionals and early childhood educators) working with families, to help identify developmental concerns early so families can receive support from the right professionals at the right time. https://www.childrens.health.qld.gov.au//red-flags-blank-c

12.01.2022 Just had to post this amazing demonstration of rhythmic genius ! https://www.facebook.com/asiancrush.tv/videos/1631356790220515/

12.01.2022 I have worked with preschool aged children for over 15 years and have seen many cases of little ones, utterly distraught and unable to soothe themselves, without a screen. Little ones, initially lured by the captivating color, lights and movement of the screen, very quickly prefer the habitual escape to relaxing entertainment, to the struggle required to solve situations or problems which require robust thinking, creative, and problem-solving, through productive play. These challenges help a child to develop confidence through robust thinking, perseverance, strategies for life, and relational and emotional strength.

06.01.2022 Children need adult support to regulate the emotional and physiological states that drive their behaviours. Time-out, where an adult isolates a child as a form ...of consequence/punishment, does not provide children with the support they need to develop their ability to regulate their emotions and behaviour- it cuts the child off from accessing that support. In contrast, time-in is about creating a calm and connected space for you and your child to allow big feelings (and then behaviour) to settle within the safety and support of your relationship. For older children, time-in can be a time to talk through big feelings. Children develop the capacity to regulate their own feelings and behaviours over time through repeated experiences of having their emotions soothed and regulated by a caregiver. They can’t do it without our support. AND when a child is emotionally regulated, they are less likely to display big behaviours. Supporting children with their feelings really is the key to helping children and families shift from moments of chaos to moments of calm. For great resources on time-in and other relationship-based parenting ideas, check out the Circle of Security Parenting or the Gottman Institute online. ____________________________________________ #gentleparenting #parenting #parentingquotes #kidsofig #baby #mama #circleofsecurity #timein #childdevelopment #mentalhealth #calm #mindfulness #consciousparenting #family #familygoals #relationshipgoals #relationshipquotes #quotes #motivationalquotes #dailymotivation #therapy #rachelsamson See more
