25.01.2022 Happy International Day of Persons with Disabilities! Today we celebrate all the marvellous individuals and families we work with who live with disabilities. 2020 has been a tough year for some and constant change, uncertainty and interruptions to services has made this year an interesting one so far! But with perseverance, strength and a good sense of humour we all soldier on and can celebrate all we've achieved together this year

24.01.2022 Time up your sleeve? Brush up on your signing skills!

24.01.2022 R U Ok? Day Lets all just take a minute to acknowledge that mental health can be a struggle for all of us at times, but particularly so for those in the population we work with. 44% of mothers of children with disabilities have depression compared to 5% of the normal female population. 75% of parents perceived a need for psych support but only 42% access it. Siblings are also at a higher risk of psychological distress (E Davis, University of Melbourne from AACPDM presentat...ion in 2017). Adults with disabilities experience higher levels of psychological distress than those without a disability (4 times higher prevalence). And young adults are the most likely to be affected. (ABS 2019). So a very important question for you and your family today is: R U OK? Reach out to a loved one, or contact Lifeline on 13 11 14, Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636, Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800, Headspace on 1800 650 890 or eFriend at efriend.org.au

24.01.2022 Looking for ways to keep the kids entertained? How about Pokemon yoga, Star Wars yoga, Frozen yoga or my own personal favourite, Harry Potter yoga? Yoga is a great way to way to build strength and balance and these sessions incorporate mindfulness for mental health too, super relevant in these times.

04.01.2022 You might have heard that in the new directive coming into place tomorrow (1st Dec) that masks are mandatory for all allied health staff for the next 2 weeks. So our lovely physios will be masked up for land-based sessions and have masks and faceshields on in the pool. We'll still have our smiles and silly personalities on underneath but it's a good idea to show this to your child so they know what to expect Not all heroes wear masks... but our SuperPhysios do!!
