25.01.2022 Hi everyone, We hope you're all keeping safe and well! With the recent rise in local COVID cases we know there's a lot of anxiety about being out in the community. We want to assure you all that we're constantly monitoring government recommendations and taking extra measures to keep our staff and clients safe.... If you feel more comfortable seeing us online via Zoom right now, we completely understand! Get in touch with us by phone or email to let us know, and our clinicians will be able to set up online appointments for you. As always, if you are unwell, we ask that you reschedule your appointment, or give us a call and change your appointment to a Zoom appointment. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch - we're here to support you through this crazy time! The Leaps & Bounds Team

22.01.2022 One of our favourite games to play this week has definitely been ‘Guess the Face’! We’re making the most of mask-wearing and focusing on identifying a person’s emotions just from their eyes. (It also helps us to remind kids that we’re still smiling when they do a great job, even though they can’t see our mouths! ) On a side note, how cute are our cloth masks! We wear these over our NSW Health-recommended surgical masks to make our masks a little more fun and exciting for our little clients

22.01.2022 Did you miss out on registering for our July holiday groups? Lucky for you, we have limited spaces still available and it's not too late! Contact us to book your place.

21.01.2022 Today is Swallowing Awareness Day! Did you know that humans swallow 500-700 times per day? Usually around once per minute while awake, 3 times per hour while sleeping, and a whole lot more when we eat! Over 1 million Australians are affected by swallowing difficulties. This includes people who are affected by strokes, and people living with dementia, brain injuries, and neurodegenerative conditions such as MS and Parkinson’s.... Who can help you manage swallowing difficulties? Speech Pathologists can! We provide assessment and therapy for swallowing difficulties in people of all ages. Let’s become #SwallowAware together - let us know in the comments what else you’d like to know about swallowing and dysphagia!

17.01.2022 April is Autism Awareness Month, so we're highlighting all of the different ways people can communicate! We love working with people and their families to find the best way, or combination of ways, that they can talk to and understand the people in their family and community. One way we can communicate is by using AAC - click through the pictures to find out just what AAC is, and how it helps us to communicate with others!

08.01.2022 Yes to this! Behaviour is a way of communicating when we don’t have the words to use. (Especially at the end of a busy term when everyone’s tired! ) How can we help our kids find the words to communicate what they need? Give everyone time and space to calm down BEFORE we talk through what’s happening.
