17.01.2022 More fantastic news! Weve been successful in our Acciona.Australia Waubra Wind Farm Sponsorship Program application! Well receive $2,375 for a portable round yard, providing us with a safe, enclosed area for our beginner riders and Riders Without Ponies members. We are so thrilled and thankful for this incredible grant. As a new club, we are very much in our humble beginnings phase and reliant on the generosity and goodwill of local organisations. Without their support, we would not be able to grow and prosper, or offer equine activities in our area. We cant wait to get started again once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, and put our wonderful new infrastructure in place! Thanks again, Waubra Wind Farm!

Its been uploaded to YouTube if you want to check it out - subscribe to Equitation Science Inter...national - ESI. The new Pony Club Victoria membership year begins on July 1, so nows the perfect time to enquire about joining. 13.01.2022 EXCITING NEWS! Today the Learmonth Pony Club received a letter from Pony Club Victoria advising that we have been granted full affiliation with PCAV. From humble beginnings in September 2019, our Club has grown to be a family friendly, inclusive, welcoming environment with a very fast growing membership.... To be granted full affiliation 12 months from commencement is no small achievement. It would not have been possible without the incredible support we have received from the Learmonth Community, the Learmonth Football Netball Club, Ballarat Council Grant Tillett - North Ward Candidate and our wonderful sponsors - Caf Sidra, Victoria Armstrong Podiatry, Real Estate Home Loans, Shape it Up Performance Horse Arenas, Ballarat Connected Communities and Acciona energy Special mention to Sue Foley, Linda Gerring and everyone at Midland Zone.

08.01.2022 Pony Club Australia has responded to the issue of over-rugging horses by including information about horses Thermoneutral Zone in the revised syllabus of instr...uction. We dont just teach people how to ride and care for horses, we include a bit of biology too ;) #alifewithhorsesstartshere #horsefacts More on rugging and temperature Overweight horses struggle more to cope with hotter temperatures and underweight horses will struggle more with colder temperatures. Horses sweat to cool down, but this only works when their sweat comes into contact with the air and/or a breeze (evaporation). Light summer rugs block this natural cooling effect and increase core body temperature. The process of digesting food warms a horse from the inside out, so you can give them some extra roughage on cold days instead of adding more rugs. On cold and wet days, your horse will struggle more to keep themselves warm when it is also windy. This is why natural shelter or rugs are important on wet and windy days. Old or sick horses may struggle at both ends of their TMZ (ie hotter and colder) and need some assistance and extra care to keep warm and dry on cold days and keep cool on hot days.

01.01.2022 Do you have friends or family near Stawell? Please share and support our fellow pony clubbers. Stawell Pony Club has been a member club of the Midland Zone of the Pony Club Association of Victoria since 1981. In its first year, the club had a strong membership of 18 riders. As with all clubs, the membership numbers have fluctuated over the years but sadly as the 2019/2020 PC year draws to a close the club is struggling for members.... Stawell PC has wonderful grounds with a training XC course, a sanded area for showjumping and a fenced mnage. The current committee recently installed a new kitchen. All these fabulous facilities need new members to enjoy them! The club is open to riders in all pony club membership categories including Adult riding members who now receive full pony club membership benefits including instruction at rallies, gaining of pony club certificates and competing in adult riding member pony club classes in pony club competitions, plus 24/7 insurance. The club needs riding members and it also needs people who are passionate about pony club to step up and take on committee positions. The executive committee of the Midland Zone is united in supporting Stawell Pony Club in mentoring and training new committee members through this time of rebuilding. Anyone reading this who would like to get involved or who knows of someone in the Stawell area who would benefit from joining the wonderful community and learning experience that is pony club please contact Jenny Barber [email protected] or Sue Foley [email protected]
