23.01.2022 Under the new vaccination requirements for child care, the new requirements prevent child care facilities from enrolling children unless immunisation certificates proving that they are fully immunised, or have a specified exemption, are provided at enrolment. This means that child care facilities must have documented evidence that children are up to date with their vaccinations, or that they are on a recognised catch-up schedule, or that they have a medical contraindication t...o vaccination, or their parents have a conscientious objection to vaccination, before enrolling a child. Unvaccinated children may be excluded from child care facilities in the event of an outbreak of a vaccine preventable disease for their own protection. This is a friendly reminder to all parents who need to supply up-to-date immunisation records. Your immediate attention is highly appreciated...
21.01.2022 Dear families, In hot weather it can be very easy for physically active children to suffer from dehydration, heat exhaustion, or even heat stroke. A physically active child can be described as a child who participates in at least an hour of high intensity physical activity every day. Some examples of high intensity activity include team sports such as soccer, football or netball, swimming training, running or tennis. It is known that children do not stop to drink as much as a...dults do and are likely to only stop when they are quite thirsty. At this stage it is likely that children are already mildly dehydrated.Water should always be the first choice of fluid. Children should be encouraged to keep a water bottle with them at all times and to stop regularly during activity to re-hydrate.It is somewhat difficult to accurately estimate how much fluid an active child requires on any one day. This is due to variations in the intensity of exercise and the weather. A child aged under 10 years will require about 200mls of fluid prior to starting activity and at least 100mls for every 20 mins they are involved in physical activity. This is equal to ~ a 300ml bottle of water or per hour. Remember: Active children should be encouraged to drink regularly to make sure they do not feel thirsty. Regular drink breaks during activity are therefore vital.

17.01.2022 Yes! Our philosophy towards creating a preschool dedicated to environmental sustainability is a huge achievement. However, realistically, it is but one small grain of sand in the ocean of an environmentally unsustainable planet. How can it affect our future? What impact does it make on the community? How can the benefits of this be carried over to other aspects of society? The answer is: through the children. The environmentally sustainable developments, while aiming to redu...ce mainly water and electricity consumption of the preschool and reduce waste, it has also been about educating the children in sustainable thinking and practices, and through them, influencing their parents and the wider community. Its about learning to care for our planet together. Actually, the sooner society embraces environmentally sustainable practises, the closer we will move towards creating a sustainable future. Small changes in our ways of thinking and making conscious decisions regarding our choices and our behaviour can and will make a difference in the long term. Furthermore, educating our children to make informed, responsible decisions towards an environmental sustainable future will have a lasting impact on the whole community. See more

11.01.2022 Zucchini Pizza Boats Prep Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 15 minutes... Yield: 12 boats, about 6 servings Ingredients 6 small zucchini (2 1/2 lbs) 1 Tbsp olive oil 1 clove garlic, finely minced Salt and freshly ground black pepper 1 cup marinara sauce (I used Classico Four Cheese) 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (6 oz) 1/3 cup finely shredded parmesan cheese (1.4 oz) 1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices 2 Tbsp chopped fresh oregano Directions Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat liner, set aside. Cut each zucchini into halves through the length (if they dont lye flat trim a thin portion from bottoms so that they will lye mostly flat. I only had to do this with one of them). Pat insides dry with paper towels (cut portion). Align on prepared baking sheet. In a bowl, stir together olive oil and garlic then brush lightly over tops of zucchini. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste then brush a slightly heaping 1 Tbsp marinara sauce over each zucchini, leaving a small rim near edges uncoated. Sprinkle tops evenly with mozzarella cheese then with parmesan cheese. Top with pepperoni slices (placing them more near centers as the cheese will melt and spread). Bake in preheated oven 12 - 18 minutes (bake time will vary depending on how thick your zucchini are and how crisp/tender you want them). Remove from oven and sprinkle with chopped fresh oregano. Serve warm.
11.01.2022 Thank you for the parents who attended the meeting yesterday. We discussed several topics with our Parents Committee including parent input, resources donations, photos and graduation. Also discussed future excursions to different venues including library, schools, nursing homes... One of the parents suggested introducing Ethics as part of our learning program. If youd like to add more ideas please do as we are open to discuss any suggestions......Thanks again for any contribution from your side.
10.01.2022 Just came back from our walk to the shops! It was really fun and the children enjoyed the excursion. On the way they talked about similar experiences with family and they practiced road safety measures. In the shops, they shared in picking the groceries and made choices of which fruits they prefer. They were all well behaved and showed a a great sense of responsibility for active community participation. They were happily involved in an experience that will broaden their understanding of the world they live in. Looking forward for more and more enjoyable excursions with our lovely Children!
10.01.2022 A parent asked if we could use this plastic apple container and of course the answer was yes. The children have enjoyed sorting the coloured items and reuse of things that would normally be thrown away is what our sustainability philosophy is all about.

06.01.2022 The skin on your face, ears and neck is much thinner and more sensitive to UV damage. Choose a hat that provides good shade to your face, head, neck and ears. For the best protection during the daily sun protection times, use all five SunSmart steps clothing, sunscreen, a broad-brimmed hat, shade and sunglasses. When choosing your hat:... look for a wide brim (at least 7.5 cm brim for adults) or bucket (should have a deep crown, angled brim of at least 6 cm and sit low on the head) or legionnaire (should have a flap that covers the neck and overlaps at the sides of the front peak) check the material: does it let a lot of light through or does it provide dark shade? A fabric with UPF 15 offers good protection while one that is UPF50 offers excellent protection. Even if the fabric is excellent, make sure the hats overall design is effective too. make sure it is cool and comfortable. This is a reminder to all our families to make sure to include a hat in their childs bag. For more info on sun protective hats, please visit thse Sunsmart Website on Sunsmart.com.au
05.01.2022 Being resilient means being able to handle things going wrong and having the ability to find creative solutions to problems. It means bouncing back from emotional hurts or coping with failure. In short, being resilient is about surviving lifes adversities. Kids encounter challenges every day that bring up inevitable feelings of frustration, anger, sadness, or fear. Things such as: Trying to make something work that doesnt Not feeling smart enough... Not being perfect Failing Wanting to hold on to a good experience Not being able to have mom or dad all to themselves Wishing to go back in time (wanting to change something theyve done) Trying to defy the laws of nature (making magic work) Losing at games or contests Wanting to send back a sibling Not being able to know what will happen in the future Not being big enough/ tall enough/ strong enough for their own satisfaction Being excluded (among peers or siblings) Not being able to control outcomes or anothers decisions or choices Not being able to have their own way all the time It is in these kinds of situations that we tend to want to protect our children. We are inclined to offer rationalization, justification, and protection from lifes futilities. What do you mean you dont like your picture? Its beautiful! Youre really good at this game; well play again and maybe this time youll win! Oh, you dont want to play with those kids anyway, not if theyre not going to invite you. Our instinct is to protect our kids, but in our eagerness to do so, its also easy to overprotect. We tend to want to shield our kids from all of lifes difficulties. After all, we just want them to be happy. The thing is, a little unhappiness is the very thing thats needed when it comes to a childs development of resilience. The more we try to protect children in difficult situations, the more we send the message were afraid theyre unable to handle them. But they can. And they will, if theyre given both opportunity and support.
04.01.2022 Our school readiness topic this week is The Human Body. We will be exploring many different aspects, including the digestive system, our organs, bones and muscles.
03.01.2022 Today the eye dropper painting activity developed and extended into a sensory colour experience. Children enhanced their fine motor dexterity as they squeezed the eye droppers, transferring and mixing the coloured water with their peers.
02.01.2022 Dear Parents At the moment the Australian government has invited a productivity commission to undertake an inquiry into the childcare system. Many of the recommendations the Productivity Commission has made in their draft report may impact negatively on parents and families and of course, their children. These recommendations may see education and care become more expensive and less accessible for families. The quality of education and care available to children may be dimini...shed. This survey is from The Parenthood - a lobby group of parents. It is a 2 minute survey and The Parenthood will share the results with the Productivity Commission and ask them not to take our early childhood quality care backwards. I urge all parents to please take this survey and hit the submit button so all our voices reach the productivity commission. Please right click on the link below and choose open Hyperlink from the menu. Alternately hover the mouse on the link and press Ctrl+click. http://www.theparenthood.org.au/campaign/childcaresurvey/ On behalf of all educators and children we thank you for taking a few minutes from your precious time to address such an important issue.
02.01.2022 At Learn & Play, all rooms are built upon interests that the children have, leading them to different creations. The childrens interests are explored and discussed using a variety of techniques, then environments are set for them to use such as sand playing, gluing, finger painting, drawing, brush painting as well as paper mache..... Every child takes pride in their work and are able to use their own skills and... imagination to enjoy memorable and treasured moments of their lives. See more
02.01.2022 The lovely people from Bunnings Warehouse Casula came to preschool on this week and installed a vertical garden and some other plants and accessories, to brighten our outdoor area. The children loved helping to plant and water the seedlings, wearing their special Bunnings aprons.
