After doing online teaching for the last 6 months, I have found the powerpoint below to be extremely helpful for my online spelling and reading lessons. It has drag and drop grammar rings, syllables, vowels, consonants, breves, macrons and syllable types. There is an example below. This can also be sent to your students. 13.01.2022 Today we revised the phonograms and making words plural. I said a word; e.g. apple, my student wrote the word, then made it plural and explained which strategy he used to make it plural. If he was correct he scored a point. Revision, revision, revision! These four strategies make teaching plurals so easy to teach!

12.01.2022 Teaching how to visualise is such a powerful way to teach adjectives. In this morning’s lesson, I explicitly explained the concept to my student. He gave me a word. I taught him how to review the word in the thesaurus and find synonyms for the words. He then wrote a sentence using the great word.

In this half an hour session we covered: -proper nouns - syllables - closed syllables - short vowels... - breve - when to use er - the fives sounds of a and why it says that sound. I want my student to know why I am teaching these strategies and how it will help them. Tomorrow I will go over them all again.
