24.01.2022 Rainbow Rice ~ a perfect and important addition to any sensory play tray. Rice provides endless open ended play opportunities. Pour it, scoop it, share it, sprinkle it and mix it. It can be used as a main ingredient for dramatic play such as ice cream parlours, tea parties, teddy bear picnics and as a base for small world play set ups such as farm yards and zoos, oceans and outer space. Just chose the colour accordingly. To make your own batch (it will last a long time if ...looked after!) Follow the simple method below: pour required amount of rice into a ziplock bag add a cap full of vinegar (I used the 'white' variety add a few drops of food colouring (I used Queens) (for rainbow rice you will need to dye batches of rice separetly) close the bag and try get most of the air out. Massage the rice with your fingers by moving it around in the bag. Try to cover all the rice. empty the bag of rice into a grease proof lined oven tray and put in the oven on 100c until the rice is dry. You could also dry it out in the sun but it does take longer. How long can you last without mixing the colours together?! Have fun! See more

18.01.2022 - Prepping for our Stay and Play sensory sessions is always fun, especially when I get to do some experimenting. I need brown playdough for our 'Into the Woods' theme this Friday and came up with these combinations which smell DELICIOUS! They are both taste safe however I doubt they will be consumed as they are super salty! Smell better than they taste for sure! Cacao and Cinnamon Playdough Acai and Lavender Playdough 2 Cups Plain Flour 1 cup sa...lt 4 tbsp Cream of Tartar 1 tbsp of oil Food colouring and/or essential oils (1 tbsp cacao and 1 tbsp of cinnamon or 1 tbsp of acai powder and 3 drops of lavender oil) 2 cups of water Mix together really well then add to a pan and heat over a med heat until the dough congeales and forms a good smooth dough.
