22.01.2022 Today's sustainability 'classrooms'. To learn about sustainability issues you have to get your hands dirty. #bali #immersionlearning #sustainability #innovation

21.01.2022 Learning Options is seeking to renew, refresh and add to our portfolio of training solutions for clients. We’ve spent 15 years delivering accredited training s...olutions to public and private sector clients but it doesn’t give us maximum space to be innovative. We’ve had so much more fun (and fulfilling outcomes) teaching outside of the box. Thinkinnovation through collaborative creative art classes, teaching small business through start up weeks, teaching leadership through connecting with other leaders, teaching diversity through cultural immersion. Perhaps you are a trainer already with a training solution we can promote to our clients? Or maybe you have never thought about it but you have a skill you can share given some guidance and opportunity? If you think you can make the link to skills needed in a workplace (corporate or community based employers) then give us a shout. There is no such thing as a dumb idea! We have taught sustainable development concepts through composting cow poo nothing is out of bounds. [email protected] or [email protected]

21.01.2022 One of our Bali immersion experiences.

20.01.2022 Congratulations Fiona Fonti. What a whirlwind day for you, from an early morning Skype interview for this award (complete with rooster chorus in the background), to swinging through trees and smashing goals at Bali treetops at lunch, to award winner in the evening. We have loved sharing this weeks leadership journey with you in Bali.

20.01.2022 The Rehabilitation Specialists are with us this week on their immersion leadership/innovation/sustainability tour. We are hoping Mt Agung continues to sleep this week whilst they are here (well we are hoping that! They plan on moving into the lodgings here). Bali remains on volcano alert but life here is normal - although that could change very quickly. The team will be donating their games and school supplies to the relief efforts. This morning commenced with beautiful prayers and offerings at the temple before we headed out for skills exchange at the local tourism and hospitality vocational school.

19.01.2022 One of my favourite photo's from our study tours with Ibu Sari Pollen,m one of our local leaders. Keep an eye on upcoming tours at www.learningoptions.com.au

19.01.2022 Meet one of our local heroes: Ibu Sari During our study tours, our students get to go and visit Pusat Kegiatan Perempuan (PKP Women's Center of Ubud). This organization is a community center for Balinese women and girls in need of support and growth. The Women’s Center overall goal is to facilitate female empowerment and gender equality to Balinese women and girls in the local area. PKP empowers women by facilitating job skills, training, and support programs to establish in...dependence and autonomy. Job training programs include sewing, cooking, and computer skills. Support groups for women include events such as yoga, peer counseling, and English classes. In addition to, these groups provide a safe haven for divorced women who are generally highly stigmatized and ostracized in the community. Also, job training helps ease stress on families that are caused by financial difficulties. The village as a whole benefits from these programs because the families can use the additional money for education or nutrition. This source of income provides better opportunities for their children to create a more successful future. If you wish to support Ibu Sari, you can contact us and we'll happily connect you. But even better: sign up for our next tours to meet this amazing woman in person and be ready to be inspired.

18.01.2022 I really should post more often but we have been head down for over 18 months with the new TAE qualifications. At times I feel like we and the other 103 RTO's registered to deliver this qualification are leading a change management process across the industry. The requirements have increased, students are not always happy with the increases for a Cert IV qual, and we are trying to correct years of substandard delivery through a single qualification. Feedback like Mark's bel...ow in his industry newsletter is so rewarding, we just don't always have time to share it! TAE40116 Upgrade Marks pathway to achieving currency recognition in workplace training and assessment Mark Taylor, Instructor, Toowoomba This year I made the decision to upgrade to TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment which I accomplished in a minimal timeframe through Recognised Prior Learning (RPL). I was motivated to utilise this TAE Training and Education Training package upgrade opportunity, as a pathway to be better prepared for my professional aspirations to obtain the relevant TAE Diplomas. Upon completion of my final assessment, I achieved a satisfactory result. Contributing to my qualification success was the inclusion of redacted evidence of QATC completed assessments, RPL documents and validation participation evidence. I provided this evidence along with my industry currency. On reflection I need to improve on maintaining future vocational education and training (VET) professional development activities to maintain TAE qualification currency as per ASQA standards. Overall the RPL of TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment was a rewarding experience, made possible with the valuable support of QATC team members and the team from Learning Options in ACT and I would like to make a special mention to my assessor Karen Nicholas. Thank you to everyone involved.

16.01.2022 We are at Bali Centre for Artistic Creativity this morning unlocking our creative and innovative minds with Bruce Sherratt. "Individually we can create great things, together we can create AMAZING things." Excited to see how our collaborative pieces emerge from the blank canvasses.

16.01.2022 We were hosted by the Purworejo Regency on Java last week. The govt are looking for Australian training provider support to start a skills centre. Love the govt support behind it... all the department heads were there and the Indonesian hospitality is always beyond expectations too.

15.01.2022 Positive changes for Australia education coys in Indonesia

04.01.2022 Extension of implementation date for new trainer and assessor credential requirements to 1 July 2019. Updated credential requirements for trainers and assessors set out in the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 were due to take effect on 1 April 2019, bringing the requirements in line with 2016 changes to the Training and Education Training Package. Recent feedback from the vocational education and training (VET) sector showed that trainers and asses...sors at some RTOs may not have met the new requirements by 1 April 2019, due to the increased number of trainers and assessors accessing gap training. This resulted in some RTOs being unable to keep up with demand to assess and issue relevant documentation by that date. In response to this feedback, Skills Ministers agreed to delay the introduction of these requirements to 1 July 2019, so that trainers and assessors can continue to train while undertaking gap training for a further three months. The Standards for RTOs have been amended accordingly. Please note that no further extensions to the new credential requirements will be made.
