20.01.2022 Wow! We all need doctors like this one for our children.

16.01.2022 On September 10th 2009, 14 years after his father committed suicide, Gavin Larkin chose to honour his father’s memory by nationally launching one very simple qu...estion; r u ok? Joining World Suicide Prevention Day, "r u ok?" day seeks to reduce the stigma associated with both mental health and suicide. In 2007, one in 16 Australians had an affective (mood) disorder while one in 7 had anxiety disorders. In 2013 the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported suicide as the leading cause of death for people aged 5 to 17. Of the 2522 Australians that committed suicide in 2013 three-quarters were male. Today serves as a gentle reminder that every day we should be asking r u ok? September 10th’s message stands alongside National Childhood Protection Week which invites Australians to play their part in promoting the safety and wellbeing of children. With the number of children in foster care expected to exceed 20,000 in 2015-16 there is an even greater need to acknowledge mental health issues, to provide support and to ask r u ok? 09.01.2022 It has been a long time since posting mainly due to our hectic lives and time on Facebook is low on my priorities at the moment. This year has truly flown and as another year draws to a close, we look forward to a well earned holiday break for all my staff and support workers. 2019 has been extremely busy and a rewarding year, as we meet the OT needs of so many families in both the Southern Highlands and the Southern Tablelands, including Gunning and Yass. We would love an...other therapist to join our team but have been unable to appoint someone that loves the area as much as we do. Commitment and longevity on our part are very important to the philosophy of our practice, as we know families are constantly dealing with changes and challenges often beyond their control. We like to provide some stability and certainty we are here for the journey and however long you need us. Cindy and Nicky in Bowral and Kathryn and Morgan in Goulburn pour their heart and souls into all they do with families and they always ‘go that extra mile’. They are an inspiration to me with their creativity and desire to keep the kids engaged in their learning and enthusiastic about the tasks set before them. We love what we do and our satisfaction comes from the smiles on the children’s faces as they succeed at doing something they thought they couldn’t do! We will return in mid January, ready to embark on another year full of great times. We will begin the New Year knowing it will be a great one and confident we can make a difference in the lives of the children and families we meet. Until then, wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with many blessings. Olwyn See more
