Now, more than ever, we say thank you to our incredibly talented Family Day Care Educators for their work and contribution t...o our Children's Services unit. In this challenging climate, they are working hard to ensure the children's days are 'normal' and full of fun, play, learning and routine. 20.01.2022 I'm delighted and honoured to share the submission I received as a part of my nomination for this years Excellence In Family Day Care Awards. Kelly started Learning Tree Family Day Care with Sutherland Shire Council in June 2017.Kelly is Certificate 3 trained but demonstrates skills and knowledge well above this level. Kelly's focus is always about providing amazing learning opportunities for all the children that take into account children's interests,development,building th...eir knowledge and skills and providing environments that allow children to explore, experiment and be involved in nature. Kelly understands the importance of building relationships that build trust and security with the children and families to ensure that the children feel they belong and can become confident and involved learners. Kelly has incorporated her amazing outdoor environment throughout her program and the children spend many hours exploring and connecting with nature. The children have access to a mud kitchen, sandpit, vegetable and flower gardens that they have helped grow and then use in cooking experiences. The children love the natural grassy slope in the yard that they practice and develop many gross motor skills on such as rolling, running , using balls to chase after. Kelly's skills in being intentional in her teaching is evident throughout the day not only through the planned experiences she provides but with the way in which she she uses spontaneous opportunities and experiences to build, scaffold and nurture children's learning.Feedback from families is that they highly value what Kelly offers their children. 17.01.2022 So excited to have been awarded the excellence in early childhood education award for my outdoor environment. I was in wonderful company among the nine other finalists and, as the only Family Day Care Educator nominated I’m proud to represent the growing recognition and respect for Family Day Care.
