22.01.2022 This week's reading assignment - a little bit about a few of the wonders the Illawarra and South Coast, NSW, Australia have to offer:

19.01.2022 Last Sunday Led by Locals ran a logistics/ trial day for friends and family. Stoked with the sunshine, the day began with some sightseeing of Kiama and Jamberoo before heading up the escarpment to trace the Shoalhaven River from one of its sources. Beginning with cascading waterfalls and remnant rainforest, we made our way toward the coast through the beautiful Kangaroo Valley with a riverside BBQ lunch. This continued to a spectacular view of the south coast and ended on the golden sands of Seven-Mile Beach, at the river's mouth. It was a great day out and a huge thanks to Michael Evans for the photography work. Stay tuned, we're looking to be up and operational in the near future.

17.01.2022 Last year Led by Locals ran our inaugural Camping Weekend with Refugee Families on the South Coast, NSW and we're gearing up for round 2! Camping is a quintessential part of growing up in Australia and something a lot of us take for granted. It is something, however, that those who have fled persecution to our beautiful country find very difficult to partake in due to lack of money, equipment, knowledge of where to go and of people who they could go with. It is also a magical... way to build a sense of place and a connection to their new home. As luck would have it, between us, Led by Locals and their legendary friends, we HAVE the equipment, knowledge, smiles and legendary attitudes to make a South Coast camping trip a reality for a few families. This year we have seen the event double in size and with continued interest to run follow-up events throughout the year. We are doing everything we can to reach out to as many families with refugee backgrounds as we can. As such we are reaching out to YOU to support us in what we do, and to allow New Australians to have the opportunity to create a special connection to their new home and feel a sense of place in our beautiful country. If anyone is interested in making a donation, please contact us via email: [email protected] AND Stay tuned for photos and the wrap up next week! LBL

15.01.2022 Led by Locals recently teamed up with SCARF - Strategic Community Assistance to Refugee Families to share one of our favourite camping spots on the South Coast with four fantastic families from refugee backgrounds. What followed was an absolutely unforgettable weekend including surfing, catching and cooking fresh salmon and blackfish, slow-roasted charcoal chicken over the open campfire, slack-lining and an assortment of killer pranks, laughs and shared stories. Our men behind the lens: Todd Hardingham and Matt Rees (resident fishing guru).

13.01.2022 The National Slow Food Australia Conference is being held this weekend in the Shoalhaven this weekend. Head on down to tickle your taste buds and learn a thing or two about the issues facing the food system within Australia:
