22.01.2022 Friday fun fact. A lot of radiant energy comes from traditional and CFL bulbs in the form of heat. On a sweltering Australian summer night, that becomes ineffective to air quality management. This is another good reason to switch to cool LED lighting right now. A great benefit of LED lighting is that is that it doesn't get hot since any heat is dissolved through the design of the diode and heat sink, whilst fluorescent, halogen, and CFL light bulbs generate a lot of radiant heat. Bear in mind though that LEDs can get hot, but only if they are used in the wrong way.

20.01.2022 LED lighting myth debunked. LEDs can't be dimmed and/or controlled. Yes, they definitely can. LEDs are digital, which means they are either on or off. In order to dim them, they are switched on and off very rapidly, even faster than the human eye can see so they can be controlled. However, not all LED light bulbs are designed for dimming, so if you want to use a dimmer, you should buy the bulbs that can be dimmed. Look out for the dimmable logo on the packaging when shopping for LED light bulbs. In a lot of cases, you can also use your existing dimmer switches. All you need to do is remove your current light bulb and replace it with a dimmable LED light bulb.

20.01.2022 LED lighting myth debunked. LEDs dont get hot at all. Not entirely true as LEDs do give off a little bit of heat, but much less than energy-saving sticks, twisters, and traditional light bulbs. Just as importantly, when you use an LED bulb in your light fittings at home, they will only emit visible light and not infrared light (IR). You cant see IR so it doesnt contribute to the brightness of the light, but it does make the bulb hotter and wastes energy. Another great benefit of LED light bulbs is that they dont emit ultraviolet (UV) light either.

20.01.2022 LED lighting design tip. Outdoor path lighting. Enhance your landscaping such as your flower beds, shrubbery, and borders whilst safely illuminating your pathways with the outdoor path and area lighting. For the effect shown on the picture below, path lights are placed all around the walkway to create pools of light and illuminate a safe passageway to your home's entrance. This not only emphasises the dynamic design of the landscape but will also greatly improve the looks of your home.

19.01.2022 Burning question of the day. Why is LED technology classified as solid state lighting? LED technology is classified as solid-state lighting because the electronics produce light directly from solid materials in which the electrons are embedded. This is unlike fluorescent technology, for example, which needs a gaseous discharge medium to initiate production of light.

18.01.2022 Did you know? LEDs are extremely durable. LEDs are hollow inside and they are not made of glass, therefore making them much more durable and able to withstand harsh conditions. For this reason, LEDs are a perfect choice for outdoor lighting systems where they may be exposed to extreme weather conditions. You can even use LEDs for freezer rooms and iceboxes!

17.01.2022 Friday fun fact. Set a mood that makes people happy at your workplace, or have a good workplace ambiance control, which is also a great recruitment benefit. The advantages of LED lighting in offices are much more than just your bottom-line asset management. When a potential new employee walks into your office, you want to make a good impression on them. This fact is true for guests who come to your home too. Whether it's your office or your home, it's always important to leave a good first impression. 16.01.2022 LED lighting design tip. Use uplighting in your front or backyard to create an amazing focal point in the landscape. Uplighting refers to illuminating an area, object or surface from below. For the effect shown in the picture, use a spotlight that's aimed at the tree in the foreground whilst the front of the home remains relatively dark.

15.01.2022 Did you know? The lifespan of an LED is NOT affected by the number of times they are turned on and off due to them being semiconductors, unlike discharge lamps.

13.01.2022 Burning question of the day. Can a retrofit be put in an enclosed or sealed luminaire? The general answer is NO. The electronics in the retrofit will overheat and lead to a short lifecycle. Using an LED module with a remote driver is a far better solution.

13.01.2022 LED lighting myth debunked. LED isnt value for money as yet. The average LED light bulb has a lifespan of up to 20,000 hours, which when they typically run around three-and-a-half hours per day, means it will be at least 15 years before you need to change the bulb. As an added benefit, youll also notice that youll get lower electricity bills as they consume around 80% less energy than traditional lamps. So yes, LED is already value for money, and as the price continues to come down, the added value will increase. 11.01.2022 Burning question of the day. Why is the heat sink design crucial for the performance of an LED fitting? Heat management is crucial for the performance of LED light bulbs. Increasing heat in LED light bulbs has the following effects in their performance: 1. A reduction in luminous flux. 2. Change in colour appearance or colour shift. 3. A reduction in the lifespan of the LED light bulb.

10.01.2022 Friday fun fact. If every American changed one of their regular light bulbs to an LED light bulb it would reduce seven billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions. It is also the equivalent to removing the emissions from 648,000 cars.

08.01.2022 Lighten up your Monday. LED light bulbs will give you consistent lighting from the first day to the very last. Traditional light bulbs lose their intensity as they age. A major benefit of LED lighting is their excellent quality, they won't fade or lose their effectiveness as it ages.

07.01.2022 LED lighting design tip. Use LED downlights in a more traditional way. LED downlights look great in more traditional settings such as rows or corners of a room. When using this type of lighting, you should ensure that you don't overuse downlights, especially in large open spaces, as this can make the light way too bright and might make the ceiling look really cluttered, even when the lights are turned off. When buying LED downlights you should pay close attention to the watta...ge, lumens, the angle of the beams and the colour of the light. Keeping these factors in mind will help you work out how many lights will be needed in a large space to make sure there are no 'dead' zones or areas that haven't been lit properly. It can be a bit complicated to work all this out, but at LED Lighting Products Australia we have a great range of LED downlights for you to choose from https://www.ledlightingaustralia.net.au/ See more

06.01.2022 Did you know? Your produce stays fresher for longer with modern LED lighting. Produce, especially fruit and vegetables like apples, bananas, potatoes, and tomatoes, are more susceptible to fluorescent light standard in older kitchens. The light does matter, as these are the types of produce that are typically on the counter or table. With the LED light bulbs, which are common in the new and modern refrigerators, for this reason, your perishables will stay fresher for longer, which means that LED will also be a cost saver for you in this regard. If chilled, fruits like apples, grapes, oranges, and all types of berries will last a bit longer. So, if you have extra room in your fridge and especially if it's one of those new LED light ones, you'll get much more life out of your produce items.

05.01.2022 Lighten up your Monday. LEDs are very eco-friendly. LED light bulbs have no toxic materials in them and they are 100% recyclable. They will help you reduce your carbon footprint. 05.01.2022 LED myth debunked. LED lighting is harmful to the eyes. Not true, LED lighting is as safe to the eyes as any other artificial light source. The light isn't focused on a single point and they are not like lasers. The intensity of LED lighting is comparable to the traditional bulb and halogen lamps.

04.01.2022 LED Friday fun fact. Use LEDs for your car. LED light bulbs for cars are more vivid, consume less energy, last longer, have a faster response time and on top of that, look a lot better than traditional car lights. The only disadvantage that you might find is that it isn't as bright as light bulbs with filament, but the colour is generally more intense. Let's have a look at the facts: 1) LED is more energy efficient than traditional lighting which saves you running costs.... 2) But it's not all about the money - LED bulbs have a faster on/off response time which means your visibility to other road users is instant the moment you switch your lights on. 3) With a massively long lifespan of around 50,000 hours LED car bulbs simply outperform other bulbs in terms of lifespan. 4) Say goodbye to boring white! LED comes in a wide range of rainbow colours from red, white and blue through to yellow, orange, green and even hot pink, so if you want to turn the inside of your car into a technicolour light show, then you can! 5) The range of LED bulbs out there is huge. You can literally upgrade any of your car, van or truck's lights. Don't just replace the headlights, your brake and tail lights, indicator/turn lights, fog lights, interior, and dashboard lights, and side lights can all have an upgrade too. Swapping your existing car bulbs for LED bulbs makes your car stand out amongst those road users who haven't yet seen the light and are still using traditional bulbs, so whether you're after a Barbie-pink dashboard or you want vivid white headlights, there's a huge range of car LED lights for you to choose from.

04.01.2022 Friday fun fact. LEDs are a lot more tolerant of temperature variances. LEDs are able to tolerate temperature extremes, which makes them a useful and durable option to have if you live in an area with various different temperatures throughout the year. LEDs are known to be capable of working successfully in harsh climates and they can tolerate temperatures that range between -40 C to +85 C. This makes them a perfect option in areas with an extreme climate and they are also a great alternative for any home or workplace.

03.01.2022 Burning question of the day. Are LEDs noisy? Fluorescent light bulbs are known to be extremely noisy, especially if they have been used for an extended period of time, which can be distracting. They tend to give off clicking sounds intermittently, but most annoyingly, they have a low buzzing sound. LEDs, however, do not have these problems and operate silently with no annoying flickering or buzzing noises.

02.01.2022 Burning question of the day. What does the "future-proofing" of LED lighting products mean? LED technology is constantly changing. The performance of LED lighting is improving on an almost daily basis due to rapid innovation. Future-proofing of LED modules enables luminaire manufacturers to switch from one generation to the next improved generation without the need for major retooling or changes in luminaire design. It also offers backward compatibility with drivers.
