24.01.2022 2021 is here and I’ve been very slow to share some of the many amazing portraits that have come out of the studio in recent weeks and months.. so let’s go! 21.01.2022 A morning at the @belair_national_park in nature and making some family self portraits! From faded yellows and browns to deep lush greens, hot sun to cool fine rain, super chill! Always happy to go to places like this to create pictures for you too

18.01.2022 Keeping your lighting simple always allows your subject to shine through. There’s no need to over complicate anything! First and last shot is a one light setup, beauty dish direct over camera, 2 black vee-flats either side of subject. Second shot is same but with a gridded kick to the left.... Always a joy creating with this human!

18.01.2022 Recently Ive not been super active posting portraits and headshots of my wonderful clients here on Instagram.. I have however been super active shooting up a storm in the studio in prep for shutting down over Xmas and New Year! 16.01.2022 This shoot was from back during my exhibition of personal work in the LUCID series. (Long exposure portraits) I brought in @courtneysrh to the venue where my work was hanging and we created a fantastic series of portraits!

16.01.2022 Friends over on Facebook, you may have noticed that my personal account is no longer, and hasn’t been for a few weeks now... I’m taking some time away to focus.. Social media is draining, none of them more than Facebook! So it’s gone. As you can see, I’m sharing to my photographer FB page via Instagram, but I’m not actively going into Facebook for this. Keep in touch with me by phone, Instagram @leeknowles_photographer or LinkedIn ... I know I took 6 month away from it last year, but I feel this absence will be much longer as I feel much lighter.. There’s always time to study and to make yourself better. On knowledge you can sit comfortably, knowing with each new professional challenge, you’ve got this!

14.01.2022 Here’s an oldie from back in 2014 at @forgewarehouse with my friend and creative human @cephalopodx we did away with all of my lighting, drop down the aperture and used only the spotlight in the ceiling , a tilt of the head and Boom, perfect Rembrandt!

12.01.2022 A couple of years ago, we took a trip up to Noosa for New Years Eve in the VeeDub and met some lovely people on the road who we interviewed and photographed. Here’s Mitch, legendary Blue mountains climbing instructor. He was taking some time off driving around Australia and making art!

06.01.2022 Photography is about where you place shadow, as much as it is where you place the light.. Often when people first get into photographic lighting they blast the scene with as much light as possible and shoot away. Then we start to realise that with shadow comes depth, and with depth, we start to have an interesting picture! This self portrait was made using flags to block out parts of the flash to create an effect of a stream of sun light coming in through a window.. ... I think it makes for a much more organic portrait, what do you think?
