25.01.2022 Club History 2000 Olympic Year part 1.To To celebrate our 40 years anniversary we are posting photos and articles of our history from each year of the 40 years, this week Part 1 of 2000 before Olympics. 2000 saw our Head Instructor GM Ross Hartnett busy in the role of National Coaching Director and Head coach of the Taekwondo Olympic Athlete Program prior to the Olympics and Head Coach of the Olympic team. GM Carmela Hartnett won her 4th US Open Championships among other ...competitions. Our son Graeme Hartnett was selected for World Junior Championships along with two other Oh Do Kwan students David Southern and Renae Smith a student of Oh Do Kwan club instructor Dominic Destefano. We also had Cynthia Cameron, John Massiello, Kavita Kumar and Fabian Quaid represent us at either World Cup or Asian Championships in the National team. Many of our own club members won selection to National teams and or won medals at a variety of international & National Competitions. We salute all clubs that made it this long or more and we thank our members and friends worldwide over the 40 years that helped the club to its success.

24.01.2022 The World Wide Campaign 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign Has ended, however domestic violence continues and is a every day problem. Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan is pleased that again a number of our clubs have taken on supporting through the Pink Belt scholarship program in a small but we hope meaningful way toward helping eliminate Violence Against Women. As we are the club with the highest number of high Dan's in Australia even though the principle founder is a... male, Mr Ross Hartnett we strive to show through our actions and record our support for females as equals, who should never have to face violence or bias. It is even more important for us in that over the years we have found even in a club so overtly supportive of women, accusations of domestic Violence against at least one past member and on occasion disrespect toward female instructors. Do not turn a blind eye to these kinds of attitudes and behaviour. Be supportive and help were you can in these instances. We are glad that Oh Do Kwan and its instructors can contribute in a positive way to women in need. We look forward to welcoming our new scholarship holders over the next few weeks. https://youtu.be/Yue4oGa8RZ8 See more
