24.01.2022 For our penultimate player profile in the series, we bring you a Life Member and recently retired Club Vice-President - Glenn Hack! Hacky was one of our longest serving club committee members with his service going back to the President terms of Ipsen, Hersey and Seaward before serving as Vice President to current President Peter Coombs for 5 years. During this time, if you have been to any club social event be that a wind-up, Christmas Party, Gillam Cup Game, Winter 20/20, H...orse Racing Night etc, then Glenn would have been on the mic as your MC. All this to go with the behind the scenes work as well as being part of a long term club sponsor at the Hack family run EES Shipping Pty Ltd. Hacksta has also done it on the field, winning multiple Two Day and One Day Premierships as well as skippering our 2nd, 3rd and 4th Grade sides along the way.

24.01.2022 The Leeming Spartan Cricket Club were delighted to meet with the Labor candidate for Riverton Dr Jags last night alongside the member for Jandakot Yaz Mubarakai MLA! We discussed a number of important issues pertaining the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club, which we hope will continue to see us move forward in our 102nd year. Dr. Jags and Yaz have also been influential in adding a noise reduction wall on Karel Avenue - 200m from the club - as part of the current roadworks nearby.

24.01.2022 2020 Annual General Meeting Please be advised that the Leeming Spartan Cricket Clubs 2020 AGM will be held at the John Connell Reserve clubrooms on Sunday the 28th June 2020. All Spartans are welcome to attend, although as part of the COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing measures and a maximum limit of 100 attendees will be in place. ... The Spartan AGM allows for all club members to learn how the Club fared on a corporate level over the past 12 months, the direction the Club is planning to take in the next season, and our off-season fundraising activities that will be taking place. As is the case with all AGMs, all committee positions are declared vacant and are subject to a nomination process as outlined in our constitution. Following the completion of the meeting, refreshments will be provided free of charge to all attendees. The meeting will be held in the board rooms of the John Connell Reserve clubhouse complex.

12.01.2022 Ahead of our first games in the one-day format on Saturday, we’re pleased to announce there has been a tweak to our grades and we’ve added in an eighth side! There’s been a few movements across the grades with the release of the final fixtures by the SMCA- South Metropolitan Cricket Association earlier this week. We are now literally the ODD one out with our One Day D side replaced by a side in the One Day B’s.... With the extra side, we can now boast that we’ll have 88 Spartans on the park each week, and we cannot wait to see everyone in action this Saturday! Check out all the revised grades below;

10.01.2022 We have yet another and possibly final Player Profile for now. Tonight we feature a man who does a lot of work behind the scenes to keep the club running. Into his 6th season as Club Treasurer, Geoff Burgess, is a fixture behind the bar most nights after training or play. On the field, he never dies wondering with the willow in hand, punishing many One Day Grade attacks from the first ball of many an innings in very quick fashion. Burgo is also one for a quick one liner to help boost the morale of team-mates while in the field.

09.01.2022 Heres a blast from the past - the Spartan website in early 2009! Safe to say its come a long way that year! That season saw us win the 2008/09 First Grade flag against Armadale. ... Incredibly, we lost the first game of the year comprehensively and then did not lose another game for the rest of the year!

05.01.2022 2020/21 Spartan Committee Following Sundays Annual General Meeting, we are delighted to announce the Committee for this coming 2020/21 season! Congratulations and thank you to all those have put forward their hand to aide the Spartans this season!... The AGM has seen some major changes as youll see below! Peter Coombs returns as President, and Geoff Burgess returns as Treasurer positions they have held since 2015. Their enormous work continues this season and we extend a special congratulations to both! A very special thank you to our retiring Vice President Glenn Hack who has been brilliant in the role for the past six years. Glenn will continue to be a regular face down at the Club and we wish him all the best for the future. To our new Vice President in Graeme Tysoe, it is going to be fantastic to have you part of the team! GT was previously a Committee member until 2017 and has also won our Best Club Person award making him the ideal person to take on the role! After a one year hiatus, Daniel Coombs also returns to the Committee this season and will once again serve as Secretary which he last held in our enormous 100th year. To our new committee members in Todd Gill and Ron Mcdonald, special thank you for coming on board and we cant wait to work with you this season! 05.01.2022 The Leeming Spartan Cricket Club was invited to a Community Reception with State Government Ministers this afternoon at the Royal Aero Club of WA in Jandakot! It has been a fantastic afternoon and was also great to speak with Ministers including Premier Mark McGowan about local issues!

05.01.2022 Lest we forget. To all our ANZAC heroes, the young men who on this day in 1915 arrived at Gallipoli and would go on to bravely gave their lives in honour of their country, we thank you and we are forever indebted. The reason the Leeming Spartan Cricket Club itself was founded in 1918 in Fremantle was in honour of our returning servicemen, and this fact has never been forgotten more than one-hundred years on.... Many Spartan players fought in the First World War, and later the Second, and their memories live on to this very day. To them, for their sacrifice, we thank you.

03.01.2022 Club Captain Announcement - Sticking to a Winning Formula! Following on from our AGM on Sunday and our new committee announcement for Season 2020/21, we are thrilled to announce our Club Captain and Club Vice-Captain for the upcoming season. We can confirm the club has elected to stick to our back-to-back Two Day Premiership winning duo in Paul Kalleske and Ben Harris as Club Captain and Vice-Captain respectively. ... With Kalleske, a stalwart of Leeming Spartan, a Team of the Century Member who has not only coached the club before and is now the only Spartan 1st Grade Captain in club history to steer his side to back to back SMCA 1st Grade Two Day or One Day Premierships, the decision for Paul to continue in this role was a no-brainer. Then to have Harris as his deputy, as one of the SMCA competitions leading batsman who has represented the SMCA Seniors in the past two seasons provides solid support to Paul. The club entrusts these two fine men with the quest for three flags in a row!
