25.01.2022 Good Evening Patrons!!! Due to the chage of dates for State Championships, it has been difficult to set dates for Leeroy's Bistro (as Friday's are needed to travel the ridiculous distances). Below is the summary of the WINTER DATES for Leeroy's Bistro. As we need time to prepare our kitchen and dining room (to meet Covid-19 responsibilities), we have set a definitive re-opening date of FRIDAY 3rd JULY 2020 at 6:00pm. Booking sheet will be available at the club in two weeks ti...me. At this stage, we are unable to offer a buffet until we have further updates from the Government. 25.01.2022 FOOD TIPS #7 - A flawless Curry I thought it was about time I passed on a simple curry recipe that will leave any takeaway for dead! Amazing, delicious and impossible to stuff up!! Note: all measurememnts in spoons are HEAPED spoons... SHRUNGER BEEF GARAM MASALA INGREDIENTS 600gm beef steak diced (chuck is good) 2 teaspoons bi-carbonate soda 1 tin crushed tomatoes 1 tin coconut milk 2 onions diced roughly 4 birdseye chillis 2 teaspoons minced garlic 1 teaspoon crushed ginger 1 tablespoon garam masala 1 tablespoon curry powder 3 teaspoons ground coriander 2 teaspoons ground turmeric 1 tablespoon white sugar 40 gm butter Olive oil, salt, black pepper, coriander or parsley, sour cream and chilli powder THE CURRY PASTE In a blender, combine garlic, ginger, garam masala, curry powder, chillis, ground coriander, ground turmeric, white sugar, a teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of black pepper, a tablespoon of olive oil and a quarter of the tin tomatoes. Blend for 2 minutes until paste is well mixed and fine. METHOD 1. Place steak in a freezer bag with bi-carbonate soda. Shake well and refrigerate for 1-2 hours 2. After above time, wash steak thoroughly in cold water and dry in paper towel or chux. Season with salt and pepper 3. In a pan, put 1 tablespoon olive oil and fry off beef for about 2 minutes until it has colour but not cooked through 4. Take meat out and set aside. Do the same with the onions using the juice left in the pan from the beef. Take onions out and put in a bowl with the beef. 5. Add 40 grams of butter to the pan and deglaze all the flavour off the bottom. Once melted, add curry paste and cook for 2 minutes stirring well. 6. Add tomatoes, combine and cook for 1 minute. 7. Add Beef and onion back and cook for a further minute. 8. Add coconut milk, mix and bring to the boil. 9. Simmer on low for 2 hours (the longer the better). Stir every 15 minutes and taste. After 2 hours if curry is not hot enough, sprinkle in chilli powder and taste until curry has reached ultimate heat level. 10. Sprinkle chopped coriander or parsley on top. Serve with steamed rice, bread and a good dollop of sour cream. Let me know how you went. I guarantee it will be delicious and you will be thrilled to have made a dish so yummy!!! :)

21.01.2022 Due to the "State of Disaster" announced by the Premier of Victoria this afternoon and due to the reintroduction of Stage 3 restrictions to Regional Victoria, I am sorry to report that Leeroy's Bistro at Bendigo East Bowls is CLOSED until further notice. If patrons are interested in a take-away service, we may consider it in the immediate future. Please post comments if you would like to see a take away option on Friday Nights for the next six weeks.

21.01.2022 A dozen walk in spots have opened up tonight if anyone is still keen to come. Open 6pm, last orders taken at 7pm.
20.01.2022 We can now have 40 inside, but with the 10 per room rule (and having only 2 rooms), we cannot reopen just yet. Hopefully a little more freedom by 1st November and a planned reopening on the following Friday. Fingers crossed.

18.01.2022 We are still subject to density limits. 38 in Greenview Room, 26 in Longroom. This means our bistro numbers are capped at 64 for Friday. With 30+ on the list already, we are half full. Book today to avoid disappointment.

14.01.2022 I regret to advise, that due to incredibly low bookings received, Leeroy's Bistro on Friday 3rd July has been CANCELLED. Attached is our next planned Bistro on Sunday 19th July 2020 - a lunch time bistro. Sheet will be up at the club later today for bookings.
13.01.2022 URGENT NOTICE: We have decided that we will await further State and Federal announcements before re-opening the bistro as planned on 5th June 2020. At this stage, we forecast a two week postponement to 19th June 2020. Please keep an eye on this facebook page for further announcements. Apologies for any confusion this may have caused but we are vigilant with complying to current restrictions.

10.01.2022 FOOD TIPS #8 - Stainless Steel Time to provide one of my great cleaning tips. It involves stainless steel and makes it look like new everytime you clean it. The most stubborn stains and burn marks will vanish in front of your eyes. Tip: Spray windex/glass cleaner on the area thoroughly and leave rest for 5 minutes. Then, using steel wool or a magic scrubber, dip into tub of Gumption and scrub away. When done, wipe with dishwashing cloth and then finally paper towel. For 10 mins work, your stainless steel will be back to its clean self.

08.01.2022 FOOD TIPS #6 - Food Storage and Preparation Some things we all should know, but worth passing on some safety points for food storage and preparation: 1. Always make sure raw meat is covered completely when in the fridge and that it is stored on a separate shelf from other fresh food... 2. Always wash fresh ingredients thoroughly in cold water before prepping them for your meal 3. After opening a block of cheese, either wrap the remainder in cling film tightly or store in a chinese container in your fridge. Open air will spoil the cheese before its best before date 4. As with the above, open onions, capsicum or most other partly used fresh foods can also be stored in chinese containers or wrapped tightly. An open onion will absorb all the bacteria and nasties in your fridge, which makes it relatively dangerous when used again, especially raw in salads 5. Once you defrost meat, you cannot freeze it again. However, if you cook the meat in a dish, you can freeze it again. Refer to past posts for how long you can freeze it for. Stay safe everyone and eat well!!
