15.01.2022 Have you driven past the historic Hill 60 house on Tanunda Drive in Rivervale? Named after the World War I battleground, this 1900s building was purchased in ...1934 by the Sisters of St John of God and was the beginnings of St John of God Hospital in Belmont. At the beginning only six Sisters worked at Hill 60, but after 1936 many improvements took place on the site and major extensions were completed in 1959. An additional hospital wing later opened in 1969. The suite of operating theatres is said to have been where the first brain surgery was ever conducted in Western Australia. The Sisters sold the hospital in 1996 and most of the St John of God buildings were eventually demolished. #ThrowbackThursday

12.01.2022 I've been wanting to capture the new footbridge from East Perth to Optus Stadium for weeks and finally got there today. The crossing will be named Matagarup Bri...dge and recognises the cultural significance of the immediate Swan River area to the Whadjuk community. Matagarup is the name given by traditional land owners to the area around Heirisson Island, meaning a place where the river is only knee deep, allowing it to be crossed. It sure has changed since I first saw the area in the 60s and what remarkable changes they are from toxic industrial site it was to a place of sports , recreation and enjoyment.

02.01.2022 Spent a few days R&R over the Christmas break. Took the bikes and started peddling-East Perth for a coffee break,Elizabeth quays for a late breakfast, then cycled home along Swan River. Finished the night enjoying Burswoods outdoor Community cinema experience. Perfect way to spend a few days and everything located close by
