16.01.2022 Growing up on a cattle property in the hills and ranges north west of Kyogle Nsw, I learned the old ways from my father who had mustering horses and earlier in his life, harness horses. While on my first job at 16 after leaving school I was introduced to the Jeffery method of horse handling, later working on the stations in N.T. and for a race horse trainer. At 21 years I was introduced to a similar Ray Hunt method of harmony with horses, I had enormous success with a bay fil...ly and from there on was completely sold on building a trust based relationship with the horse and always giving the horse a choice ( setting things up so that the horse chooses the way I want him to go). All my life I've had horses and continued working on unlocking the simple wisdom delivered by the leading handlers in this field. During this time I became a farrier and later met Monty Roberts in the UK, another man I admire for his efforts to help people on the journey of better understanding the wonderful relationship of having a horse try his very best because he trusts you and wants to please. Now at 47 years I've realized that I'm working with my own Rod Vaughan method that's taken a bit from here and a bit from there, even some old school from those great fellas I've met along the way. Every horse I start, I keep learning, the horse questions us and looks for security and comfort provided by a hand of experience and confidence. See more
