18.01.2022 September 25 is Legacy's official 97th birthday! The Legacy promise was made nearly a century ago, forging an enduring commitment from one mate to another to care for our veterans’ families. Major General Sir John Gellibrand and Lieutenant General Sir Stanley Savige were instrumental in setting up initial Clubs in Hobart and Melbourne. Due to their commitment and enthusiasm for the cause, the movement grew - and in 1925 Legacy turned its focus to care for the children of dece...ased ex-servicemen. Today, Legacy looks after 52,000 beneficiaries nationally, and with over 4,000 volunteers Legacy provides caring and compassionate support for the families of Australian Defence Force men and women who have lost their life or health.
