24.01.2022 Solemnity of The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary "We never give more honour to Jesus than when we honour his Mother, and we honour her simply and solely t...o honour him all the more perfectly. We go to her only as a way leading to the goal we seek - Jesus, her Son." - St Louis-Marie de Montfort "Today the liturgy invites us to contemplate Mary, taken up body and soul into heaven. By a special privilege, she was enriched by divine grace from the moment of her conception, and Christ, who ascended to the right hand of the Father, opened the doors of his kingdom to her, first among human creatures. Now from heaven, where the Queen of the angels and saints is crowned, the Mother of God and of the Church is close to the Christian people before whom she shines as the new and immaculate woman (who) mediated for the guilt of the first woman." - Pope St John Paul II "In dangers, in doubts, in difficulties, think of Mary, call upon Mary. Let not her name depart from your lips, never suffer it to leave your heart. And that you may obtain the assistance of her prayer, neglect not to walk in her footsteps. With her for guide, you shall never go astray; while invoking her, you shall never lose heart; so long as she is in your mind, you are safe from deception; while she holds your hand, you cannot fall; under her protection you have nothing to fear; if she walks before you, you shall not grow weary; if she shows you favour, you shall reach the goal." - St Bernard of Clairvaux "Mary, who is a human creature, one of us, reaches eternity in body and soul. This is why we invoke her as the Gate of Heaven. There she awaits us, just as a mother waits for her children to come home." - Pope Francis The 9 day Novena to Our Lady of the Assumption can be said any time and is available on our website: https://www.legionofmary.net.au//87-novena-to-our-lady-of-

14.01.2022 Why is the name Mary Holy and Sweet? M - YRRH - or bitterness. MAR is sea. Mary had overcome the bitterness brought by sin. She's also the star of the sea. A - SSUMPTA - assumed into heaven. At the end of her life here on earth, she was taken up into heaven by the will of the Father.... R - EGINA - when she was taken into heaven, she was crowned as QUEEN of Heaven. I - MMACULATA - she was conceived without sin. And this is a belief, a Dogma of the Church. A - DVOCATA - someone who defends, who is there to help us in our troubles, anxieties, pains and hurts. Excerpts from the homily of Fr Perry Peralta, CM on today's mass at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal National Shrine Parish, Sucat, Philippines. 13.01.2022 12 DEC. Feast of OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE The Virgin Mary appeared four times before Juan Diego and once more before Juan Diego's uncle, Juan Bernardino. 09.01.2022 27 November FEAST OF THE MIRACULOUS MEDAL Properties of the medal... The Front Side Mary stands on a globe, crushing a serpent beneath her feet. Describing the original vision, Catherine said the Blessed Mother appeared radiant as a sunrise, "in all her perfect beauty." Rays shoot out from Marys hands, which she told Catherine, "... symbolize the graces I shed upon those who ask for them." Words from the vision form an oval frame around Mary: "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee." Seen as a matrix, the elements of the front design encapsulate major Marian tenets: Quality of Our Lady As Illustrated by the Medal Mother Her open arms, the "recourse" we have in her. Immaculate The words, "conceived without sin." Assumed into Heaven She stands on the globe. Mediatrix Rays from her hands symbolizing "graces." Our Protection Crushes the serpent (Gn 3:15). The Reverse Side A cross-and-bar surmounts a large, bold "M." 12 stars disperse around the perimeter. Two hearts are depicted underneath the "M," the left lapped with a crown of thorns, the right skewed by a sword. From each, a flame emanates from the top. Again, employing a grid analysis, we can see how the reverse-side design contains great symbolism reflecting major tenets of the Catholic faith. Design Element and its Catholic Meaning The large letter "M" Mary as Mother, Mediatrix. Cross and bar Jesus Cross of Redemption. 12 stars 12 Apostles, who formed the first Church. Left Heart The Sacred Heart, who died for our sins. Right Heart The Immaculate Heart, who intercedes for us. Flames The burning love Jesus and Mary have for us. O Blessed Mother Assumed into Heaven, after years of heroic martyrdom on earth, we rejoice that you have at last been taken to the throne prepared for you in Heaven by the Holy Trinity. Lift our hearts with you in the glory of your Assumption above the dreadful touch of sin and impurity. Teach us how small earth becomes when viewed from heaven. Make us realise that death is the triumphant gate through which we shall pass to your Son and that someday our bodies shall rejoin our souls in the unending bliss of heaven. From this earth, which we tread as pilgrims, we look to you for help. In honour of your Assumption into Heaven, we ask for this favour: (Mention your request) At the hour of our death, lead us safely to the presence of Jesus to enjoy the vision of God for all eternity together with you. 05.01.2022 8 DEC19 FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception celebrates the solemn celebration of belief in the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. It is universally celebrated on December 8, nine months before the feast of the Nativity of Mary, which is celebrated on September 8. The Immaculate Conception is one of the most important Marian feasts in the liturgical calendar of the Roman Catholic Church, and is celebrated worldwide.... By Pontifical designation and decree, it is the patronal feast day of Argentina, Brazil, Korea, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Philippines, Spain, the United States, Uruguay and Italy. By royal decree, it is also designated as the Patroness of Portugal. It is celebrated by the Roman Catholic Church as well as a few other closely related Protestant Christian churches, but not by the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Oriental Orthodox Church, and Church of the East. read more at https://en.wikipedia.org//Feast_of_the_Immaculate_Concepti photo by Marys holy and immaculate conception, by Francisco Rizi, Museo del Prado, 17th-century, Oil on canvas.

04.01.2022 Day 3 - Novena to Our Lady of the Assumption

04.01.2022 24 NOV 19 The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ King of THE Universe "That in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those... that are in Heaven, on earth and under the earth: And that every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is in the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:10-11 Christ Himself speaks of His Own kingly authority [see link for Bible Citations]: in His last discourse, speaking of the rewards and punishments that will be the eternal lot of the just and the damned; in His reply to the Roman magistrate, who asked Him publicly whether He were a king or not; after His resurrection, when giving to His Apostles the mission of teaching and Baptizing all nations, He took the opportunity to call Himself king, confirming the title publicly, and solemnly proclaimed that all power was given Him in Heaven and on earth. These words can only be taken to indicate the greatness of his power, the infinite extent of His kingdom. What wonder, then, that He Whom St. John calls the "prince of the kings of the earth" appears in the Apostles vision of the future as He Who "hath on His garment and on His thigh written King of kings and Lord of lords!." It is Christ Whom the Father "hath appointed heir of all things"; "for He must reign until at the end of the world He hath put all his enemies under the feet of God and the Father." read more at / and picture from http://www.catholictradition.org/Christ/cking-feast.htm

01.01.2022 Day 4 Novena to Our Lady of the Assumption O Queen assumed into Heaven heaven, pray for us

01.01.2022 Immaculate Heart of Mary The main difference between the devotions to the hearts of Jesus and Mary is that the one concerned with Jesus emphasizes his divine heart as being full of love for mankind, but with this love for the most part being ignored or rejected, while devotion to Marys heart is essentially concerned with the love that her heart has for Jesus, for God. Therefore, it is not an end in itself, so the love of her heart is meant to be a model for the way we should... love God. The fact that her heart is immaculate, that is sinless, means that she is the only fully human person who is able to really love God in the way that he should be loved. Honoring Marys Immaculate Heart is really just another way of honoring Mary as the person who was chosen to be the Mother of God, recognizing her extraordinary holiness and the immense love she bestowed on Jesus as his mother, the person who was called to share in and co-operate in his redemptive sufferings. The aim of the devotion is to unite mankind to God through Marys heart, and this process involves the ideas of consecration and reparation. A person is consecrated to Marys Immaculate Heart as a way of being completely devoted to God. This involves a total gift of self, something only ultimately possible with reference to God; but Mary is our intermediary in this process of consecration.
