18.01.2022 Last night, the Prep Siddur presentation was broadcast live to family and friends at home. This message was given to the students by their teachers and the the leadership team. ... To our dearest Prep students, Mazel tov! We are so incredibly proud of you! Tonight’s siddur presentation marks the great milestone of you receiving your first Siddur. By davening every day, we are following in the righteous footsteps of our Avot/forefathers - Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaakov, who first instituted our tefillot of Shacharit, Mincha and Maariv. Whether you want to thank Hashem for something good that happened, or ask Hashem for something you want or need, you can do it right here, in your siddur. May Hashem listen to and accept all of your tefillot and may He continue to do so, every time you open your siddurim to daven. Mazal tov to each and every one of you! https://youtu.be/am33a6G8SBk

17.01.2022 Leibler Yavneh College were proud to welcome Former PM Malcolm Turnbull to speak to students at an assembly today in honour of the YouMatter Campaign a student-led initiative that seeks to destigmatise mental health problems, fundraise for mental health organisations in Australia and Israel and encourage peer-support among our students. Mr Turnbull spoke to our students about his struggles with anxiety and depression before he became Prime Minister and gave meaningful insig...hts and strategies to our students about how they can take care of themselves and each other. In a lively Q&A session, Mr Turnbull spoke to us about his closeness to the Jewish community, his admiration of Israel the ‘Start Up Nation’ and gave advice to Yavneh students who aim to one day be PM! 01.01.2022 Mazel Tov to the Bat Mitzvah class of 2020 '' Last night our Year 6 Bat Mitzvah class celebrated and reflected, showcasing aspects of their learning, their heritage and their still unfolding journey into womanhood. For anyone that missed last night’s spectacular and meaningful event you may watch the live broadcast by clicking here:... https://youtu.be/dfCZHAkKJto An excerpt from Morah Rivka’s (Bat Mitzvah teacher) speech: "During our many months of Yavneh baBayit, we all wrote in a gratitude journal each night and then each lesson we would share something we were grateful for, from the week gone by. Just this past Shabbat I was reading back on all I’d written in that time and noticed there was a weekly theme each Wednesday night in my journal, and here it is in summary... I’m grateful to you for taking me out of my comfort zone and giving me the confidence to bake once again I baked my first cake that didn’t flop with you, over Zoom and I’ve even had the confidence to bake a couple more sweet delights since! I am so grateful for your efforts, your commitment, your open-mindedness, your teamwork, your energy, your kindness, your patience and your enthusiasm - all of which you’ve drawn upon and invested graciously to approach this aspect of your learning. Each of you has imbued and embraced so many of the values we at Yavneh promote. I am grateful and proud to have witnessed solid values in action. Not only can I describe you as a strongly connected and cohesive team of individuals, but I can also say you consistently came together throughout this year and showed nothing but care and support for each other throughout our Bat Mitzvah classes. You opened your hearts and minds to every experience and brought enthusiasm, individuality and creativity to all that you did, despite the obvious limitations and challenges. I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to have watched you grow, culminating in tonight’s celebration evening. Each of you has wholeheartedly given of yourself throughout this process a voyage of personal discovery - of learning more about who you are, where you came from, your shared traditions and rituals and the traits that characterise each of you as individuals".
01.01.2022 This week, as part of their Chumash Readiness Program, Year 1 Aleph students had a tour of the Elsternwick shule with Rabbi Sendor. Rabbi Sendor took out a Sefer Torah, spoke about how a Torah is written, how we look after it and how it is read in shule. The differences between a page in the Chumash and the text of a Sefer Torah were also discussed. The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves. #LYC #Torah
