23.01.2022 It feels a bit surreal at this crazy time, but heartening, to be able announce the delirious completion of this super delightful project, "Recorder Queen". It ...has been a real pleasure conceiving this pretty audacious film, off and on over many years, with Australia's very own recorder virtuoso Genevieve Lacey. A woman of great integrity, generosity and the appropriate amount of nuttiness.. We've had some amazing creatives contribute their sensibilities and sounds to the film. But the biggest thanks goes to our third amiga and producer, Clare Sawyer for her love and enduring support, and her ingenuity! It's been an opportunity and rare privilege for me to bring together all my different passions into the one work: music, animation, documentary and forging wilfully down the road less travelled. Hopefully all that love translates onto the screen! We will be airing in two weeks on Compass, ABC 1, Aug 23rd at 6.30pm AEST Let us know what you think. See more

14.01.2022 UNTIL WE GATHER AGAIN - Alice Chance When I realised the Leichhardt Espresso Chorus would not be able to gather collectively for some time, I spoke to some composers about re-imagining what choral isolation could do for out creative process...and to look at this "instrument" (a community choir) I wanted in fact to celebrate the out of time "zoom effect" and make something beautiful from it. 12.01.2022 A few months ago, a singer in Tasmania had a wonderful idea, as his friends and singing colleagues around the country (and world!) went into lock-down to try an...d outsmart the current pandemic. The result of this kernel of inspiration is finally here today - a virtual performance of Thomas Tallis' epic 40 part motet, Spem in Alium, made by 40 Australian singers, in their lounge-rooms from across the country. This incredible collaboration has been directed and weaved together by the exceptionally talented and driven Nick Caddick and features singers from Australian ensembles including St Mary's Cathedral Choir, Sydney, The Song Company, Allegri Ensemble, Choir of St James' King Street, Sydney, Luminescence Chamber Singers, Pinchgut Opera,Adelaide Chamber Singers, and many others, some of whom met years ago singing together at Tallis Scholars Summer Schools, and have gone on to have music careers spanning continents. In Australia, the choral music world is small, but strong. And perhaps most importantly these singers are not just colleagues for this project - but friends, and lovers of a power that unites us across seas, across centuries - that is, beautiful choral music. We hope you enjoy this video, the singing and the glorious score, and can hear the passion resonate, in this strangest of times. With hearty congratulations to Nick, and credit to Brooke Shelley for her mix and Alex Wharton Abbey Road Studios for the mastering. Thanks for listening.

10.01.2022 New Music! I asked a choir what it felt like to no longer be able to gather and was deeply moved by their responses. I think you will be too. This collaboratio...n with Leichhardt Espresso Chorus as part of the Australian Music Centre's Peggy Glanville-Hicks commissioning initiative has given me work at a time when so many in my community do not have any, and for that I'm hugely grateful. If you've been feeling alone throughout the last few months, I hope this video might help you feel less so. And if you've been struggling with your creativity, please remember you deserve compassion. Huge thank you to Michelle Maria Leonard and the wonderful people of Leichhardt Espresso Chorus for your openness, enthusiasm and honesty. You guys have been championing my work for over 8 years now!

01.01.2022 LightnUp and the Lismore Lantern Parade have survived for 25 years, connecting people and bringing light, lanterns and laughter to communities right across Australia. They have been involved with the Moorambilla Gala concert each year, and have run workshops in the Inner West for the Leichhardt Espresso Chorus's Carols on Norton to create the wonderful lanterns in the children's parade.
