25.01.2022 Has anyone else read this? It's brilliant!!! So beautifully written, this gothic thriller/romance is passionate, creepy and very atmospheric. Revenge, tragedy and suspense abound in post-war Barcelona...

25.01.2022 The wonderful Geoff Filmer at work on our new mural this chilly afternoon. We are just praying it stays dry...

24.01.2022 I am really happy with how this commission turned out. It was a very broad brief, bringing together many, very diverse elements - a real challenge! I enjoyed mixing both the highly figurative and the abstract and feel it has turned out to be a very arresting and charged piece. It is an acrylic on canvas and measures 44"X30" I really enjoy working to a brief and I find myself creating works I would never have dreamed of in my own studio practice!

23.01.2022 Just finished this mural with Geoff Filmer at the Veteran's Support Centre in Belconnen. Such an amazing group of people. I hope this mural brings some good energy to their incredibly important work.

23.01.2022 So here is the next installment in the emu mural - eyes and blocking in. Spray paint is really fun to work with!

23.01.2022 Another day on the brushes! This is a large cockatiel that I finished on Friday. I'm just loving working with paint and brushes on a large scale - so freeing!

22.01.2022 A very busy day at the End of Trip facility at Constitution Place today with Geoff, Pete and Jenny Filmer today. We were drawing out and painting a very large mural to brighten this basement space up. It was an early start, and a very productive day's work.

20.01.2022 Blocking in today... Concrete is a surprisingly lovely surface to work on. Nice texture - not too rough, not too smooth. Perfect for glazing, scumbling and using thick opaque paint. Coupled with a bit of cloud cover and birdsong, it's a smashing way to make art.

18.01.2022 A king parrot couple. These birds are so vibrant and clever - just gorgeous animals! Lots of layers to get those really rich reds and greens....

18.01.2022 Working with the wonderful Geoff Filmer in Weston Creek. It was occasionally a tiny bit whiffy as we were painting a sewage treatment facility, but we were really happy with how the artwork turned out.

17.01.2022 Sanding down a water tank today in preparation for priming and painting with a rainforest mural. There is something very relaxing about sanding and I love the cross-hatching effect it makes on the tank surface...

17.01.2022 I've been spending a bit of time this week painting this substation in Canberra Nature Park with the wonderful Geoff Filmer. I thought I'd share the 'before' photos before posting what we've been up to with spray paint.

16.01.2022 Finished this mural at Farrer Primary Preschool yesterday. Geoff and I had a great time painting and chatting with the kids. I had a real affinity with the big cockatoo - such fun to work on! It's always nice painting for such enthusiastic clients - thanks Farrer Primary!

16.01.2022 I've just spent the morning with Dennis Mortimer from Bunker Art Group judging this smashing exhibition. Lots of interesting work in a lovely space. It opens this weekend and is certainly worth a visit

12.01.2022 Salt Labyrinths by Japanese Artist Motoi Yamamoto

11.01.2022 Bee shoes and hands today... almost finished!!

10.01.2022 And here, after a couple of sessions on the brushes, is my female bee character. I'm pretty happy with how she is going. Still to finish off her body with the spray paints, but heading home for a cuppa now. Hopefully the kids will like her when they arrive back on Monday...

10.01.2022 Woohoo! It's finished!!! Really pleased with how the mural at Arawang Primary has turned out. The kids said it was so bright and colourful that you would be able to see it from space. Loads of fun working in a really lovely school with smashing kids and staff...

10.01.2022 Another winged creature from the mural in Canberra this week. It's been many years since I painted a butterfly (possibly 30!!!) and the trick is to get the tonal values correct so it looks as if it is flying. Smaller brushes for this one and lots of layering. Am I right in saying it is a Monarch butterfly? A lovely, delicate creature to work with... The mural is fairly flying along now with Graffik Paint and the wonderful Pete and Jenny Filmer

09.01.2022 This is my day's work yesterday. I think it is a common grass blue butterfly. Beautiful to paint with lots of subtle layers of purples, blues and browns. I wanted to achieve a shimmering, almost iridescent effect. I love painting butterflies - there is something quite magical about them....

09.01.2022 Just trying up some spare ends before I start back to the water tank murals next week. Doodled this while on the phone to a paper supplier today. Anyone got some doodles to share below?

08.01.2022 Here is the giant cockatoo I painted yesterday. I really enjoyed this one - it's painted with decorating brushes and Dulux Weathershield (the greatest exterior paint known to man ). It was lovely to be back on the brushes and I'm thinking about doing lots more of my mural work in this way.

07.01.2022 Sketching out emus on the substation. They are such weird birds - reptilian and slightly disconcerting with very intense facial expressions. Loads of fun to paint, not always fun to meet at a BBQ!!!

07.01.2022 I often spend time in the studio getting the likeness of someone in a portrait painting, but it's rare that I spend the day painting a bee portrait! It's been a lovely morning in the beautiful sunshine creating Baz the Bee, and I think I've got him just where I want him. Hopefully the kids will like him once they return from their school holidays...

06.01.2022 It was difficult to get a good shot of this lovely yellow trailed black cockatoo because of the sun, but here he is in all his glory!!!

05.01.2022 It was a pretty chilly few days creating this mural in Mitchell last week with the fabulous Geoff Filmer. The prickly pear theme was loads of fun to work with and it really brightens up the space. Thank goodness for thermals!!!

05.01.2022 Just finished this water tank mural last night and went back for photos this morning. It was a challenging surface to work on, but actually turned out to be lots of fun to paint. It certainly brightens up a dark space and brings some colourful nature into the courtyard!!!

05.01.2022 After much work and effort my wonderful student and friend Jeffrey has finished his very interesting communist propaganda painting. I must admit that trucks and crucibles are not my usual subject matter when teaching, but it was great to be presented with a challenge! Many weeks of drawing, blocking in, glazing and scumbling followed and this is the fabulous result - it is Jeffrey's 3rd painting ever, and it's a cracker! Great work Jeffrey

05.01.2022 Here are the finished emu murals I painted with Geoff Filmer at the Canberra Nature Park. There are another 2 walls to show you, but the sun made it difficult to photograph - I'll head back there soon in different light conditions to get better snaps. What a difference from the brick and graffiti we started with...

03.01.2022 Life doesn't get much better than this! It's the first time we've done the full 22km walk on the Kosciuszko trail. Weather was mixed, but cool enough for pleasant walking. Just spectacular!

02.01.2022 I've been waiting for Susanna Clarke to bring something new out for a decade, so imagine my joy when is spotted it at the bookshop last week. Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell is my all time favourite read, so I had high hopes. I must say, I really enjoyed this book and read it in 3 sittings. It doesn't reach the wonders of her first novel, but it was a really good, multilayered read with beautiful and thought provoking writing. Is it another decade to wait before the next one I wonder???

02.01.2022 Spent a wonderful day on Tuesday collaborating with Geoff Filmer on this mural. It was great to work together and I really enjoyed the energy and merging of different styles. As someone who works mostly alone, it's really fun for me to paint with another artist. We were pretty chuffed with the results

01.01.2022 The opening ceremony of my mural at Arawang Primary school with the Director General of Education and the Principal. Ribbon cut and we are officially open!

01.01.2022 I finished last week with this scaly fellow! I must admit, that I don't often get to paint reptiles, but this lizard was a fun way to finish the week. Lots of browns, yellows and greens to play with and a cheeky lizard smile...
