19.01.2022 South Australian Police have visited our venue and just informed us that we can no longer sit anyone at our bar even though 3 police officers prior advised us it was a non compliance bar. If we fail to comply theyll issue us with a $5000 fine and we will be prosecuted. This is 50% of our capacity wiped out meaning we now have a non viable business model. ... This is beyond ridiculous. Our government can allow home gatherings of up to 50ppl with ZERO social distancing measures and yet small venues and bars who operate safely with covid marshals and hygiene practises are deemed unsafe?! WTF?!?! How can our state entertain the idea of welcoming international students, the footy prelim finals etc yet not protect its own small businesses and hospitality sector?! What makes this even more ridiculous is we have ZERO cases and no local transmission !! Friday is our first birthday and whilst we should be celebrating we will now instead be contemplating closing indefinitely. We apologies to all guests who have bookings that we will no longer be able to accommodate.
