12.01.2022 The City of Playford approved these concept plans for the $5.2 million Virginia main street upgrade during their May 26th Council meeting. The works are set to begin in December 2020, with an expected completion date of December 2021. The upgrade will include a shared walking and cycle path along both sides of the road, storm water infrastructure, new street trees and street furniture (such as bins and seating), pedestrian crossings, an entry statement, and the undergrounding... of power lines. The upgrade will also include the development of Institute Park into a community destination that incorporates new play equipment, seating, BBQs, toilets, fencing and an entry feature. In 2018, Virginia saw a 33% increase in dwelling value (the second highest growth in South Australia!). Will we see the same boom over the 2020-21 period upon the completion of the upgrade? We can't say, but we're excited to find out!
