25.01.2022 Powers of Attorney. These are a must for any person who owns assets in their own name or who might one day suffer from ill health and be unable to conduct their own affairs. Oh - guess what - that is ANYONE of us. Make sure you have a PoA in place and an alternate / backup. talk to us or your solicitor now. Dont wait.

25.01.2022 With all this talk about the "bank super funds" profiting from the exposure to cash and not paying a competitive interest rate, it is a good time to remind clients in Wealthtrac Super & Pension that the Platform cash account at Wealthtrac is currently paying 1.97% pa. That is higher than most at call cash accounts.

19.01.2022 WARNING If you get a call from AUSTRALIAN WEALTH INITIATIVE hang up immediately. It is a scam and they are giving false information about Age Pension and Tax rebates. This time they got a CFP on the phone and I let them have it. Please do not get caught.

14.01.2022 Leishman Financial Services are proud to announce we have been accepted for membership the The Alpha Group. A group of elite, like minded professional boutique financial planners in Victoria.

14.01.2022 The Dow is up over 4.8% overnight. The ASX 200 went up over 3% yesterday. But that restores order and calm so Aussie media does not report on it. Very frustrating.

14.01.2022 We would like to remind you that we have free green shopping bags for collection at our office. Just pop in and see one of friendly team members.

14.01.2022 This weeks Pet Star of the week is "Roxie" Roxie is the fur baby of Sharron & Dave and lives in Wheelers Hill. Everyone say "Hi Roxie!".

12.01.2022 Dont let the Banks behaviour stop you from getting professional advice from qualified, professional advisers who stand behind their advice. For over 30 years we have continued to do this. We have always acted in the clients best interest and didnt need laws to tell us that was the right thing to do. In our recent compliance audit we had all the boxes ticked because we care about our clients and their future.

12.01.2022 The Coronavirus (covid-19) has certainly had an impact on share markets over the last week, with the Aussie share market now down 10% and the US share market down 12%. However, unlike past share market scares, this downturn is not financially or economically based, but rather based on an outside non-monetary event. Chances are the performance of the markets will reflect the performance of the virus, with more new cases appearing around the globe we will see markets fall. Howe...ver, the mortality rate as a percentage of the number of cases appears to be stable, and we are starting to see a large number of recoveries coming through. As we see more and more recoveries from the virus, we will no doubt see more recoveries in the markets. The message from this is that it is important to continue to maintain a long-term view and therefore maintain a diversified portfolio that reflects your relevant investor profile. See more

11.01.2022 This is one of the reasons we are always cautious about Industry Funds and their claim to be so "honest" http://www.moneymanagement.com.au//govt-accuses-industry-f

10.01.2022 Here it is, before it even gets to the printer, the new edition of Money Matters by Leishman Financial Services. Our newsletter for you. Happy reading.

09.01.2022 Some facts about the proposed lifting of the Centrelink Age Pension age to age 70. 1/ It will only impact people born AFTER 1966. 2/ These people will have had Compulsory Super (SGC) almost all of their working lives, since 1991. 3/ The Politicians pensions are their super, not an Age Pension, despite being funded by tax payers. this is a whole can of worms that needs an independent review.... 4/ The increase in the Age Pension age does not mean people have to work longer, it means they have to fund themselves from the time they retire after age 60 until at least age 70, depending on their ability to qualify for an Age Pension. 5/ The Age Pension, for people born after 1966, was always going to be a back-up, a safety-net, not the main source of their retirement funding. So, what should you do if you were born after 1966? Speak to us about savings for your future and make sure you do not put yourself in a position where you NEED an age pension in retirement.

09.01.2022 Whilst our office is closed the team is here to help you. Call 03 9561 9699 and select the team member you wish to speak to. Stay safe, stay home Melbourne.

08.01.2022 So that Industry Fund that the "shoeless gambler" recommends, they have changed their Ts & Cs to restrict withdrawals for members, right when the share markets globally have fallen, property markets are being pedcited to be hit, people have lost their jobs, the Government is allowing a $10,000 payment. Strong, public super funds like those we recommend to our cilents would never pull such a stunt.

07.01.2022 Please find below our March 2020 Newsletter. Hot off the presses.

06.01.2022 By Jan 1st 2024, if proposed regulations go through, Chris, Harry & I have to get a NEW qualification. Minimum of 6 university units possibly more. Observation: it has been 10 days since the RC came in and scathingly bashed mortgage brokers. Already the MFAA has released an radio ad campaigning against the proposals it is over 2 years since FASEA has been trying to literally destroy the livelihoods of thousands of Experienced Financial Planners because they had the audacity ...to qualify before 2007 and even though they have done all their CPD and maintained a CFP they have to get new qualifications which still have not been clarified, And yet there has, to my knowledge, been NO PUBlIC campaigning by our so called industry associations against these proposed rules. Where are they? Why are they not going loud and public? My clients and friends are appalled at the proposals. GPs with a pre 1970 medical degree have never had to re-qualify to become formally university trained in more modern recent medical treatment. Their PD is good enough. I am so disappointed with the FPA, the AFA and others. Lobbying Canberra and FASEA has achieved almost nothing to help Senior, older advisers. See more

05.01.2022 Ok so I am very excited to announce the following finalists:

04.01.2022 Congratulations to Team LFS on getting through another Covid-filled fun week. See you Monday and enjoy your weekend. Self-care times starts in 9 minutes......

04.01.2022 To our loyal clients, from Thursday August 6th we have to work remotely to comply with covid restrictions. More to come but we will publish phone numbers to contact us for various requests and as always we are in email as per our website: www.leishmans.com.au Thank you for your support as we all play our part to beat this virus.

03.01.2022 Dear Clients The world is quickly changing at the moment and there is a lot of fear, panic and impulsive behaviour. As your financial planners, part of our role is to employ discipline in investment practices and investor behaviour. In the main, our clients have reacted appropriately, not with panic and fear. This will see them fare well in the coming months and into the inevitable market recovery.... Most news outlets have been reinforcing the message we sent out 2 weeks ago, to remain calm, stay invested, and in the long run, those who do not move to cash will recover the best. History tells us this is true. On the office front, we are no longer accepting face-to-face appointments, but more than happy to speak to you on the phone or via email. Why have we done this? Well, to protect you. Most of our clients are retirees, many are elderly or have elderly parents. While no one in the LFS team, nor anyone we know has come down with Covid19, we are extremely conscientious that the bulk of our clients fall into the most vulnerable category. For that reason, we want to avoid contact for the time being. That does not mean we dont want to hear from you. Quite the opposite. We will continue working from the office while we are able to, and from home if bans come into place on worksites. Our team is here to help you with any enquiry you may have and we will help wherever we can. Annual reviews can take place via phone and we hope to set up remote video for those clients who have access to Skype or Zoom or similar very soon. We assure you that we are not on holidays (they have all been cancelled) nor have we run for cover. Please let us know if we can assist. We will continue to keep you up-to-date when relevant news is at hand. Please stay well, stay calm and stay home. From Simone, Chris & the LFS Team.

02.01.2022 LFS is supporting the Red Cross to help victims of the current bush fire tragedy. If you would like to help please email [email protected].
