23.01.2022 What a week!! This is my 4th water fast retreat with Sarah @whitelotuscleansing and I will continue to come back. Fasting is the fasted and deepest way to cleanse and heal the body. It’s like a reboot for the body mind and soul. It should be evident by the pictures that going without food for a week doesn’t have to be a horrible experience. Quite the opposite in fact!! Once we are no longer attached to food so many hours of the day (thinking about food, grocery shopping, ...making 3 meals a day, being bombarded by food marketing) suddenly you create space for so much else. Healing on a profound level, clarity of mind and plenty of time to concentrate on other things that are not related to food. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE food and am a total #foodie but taking time out and resting our usually overloaded systems, leads to a myriad of health benefits and clears the body and emotions of disease, rapidly and also OPTIMALLY. I highly recommend fasting, even one day per week. How can one the most ancient health practices in the world, not be incredibly beneficial?? Go on, give it a go!! 22.01.2022 Morning ritual Upon rising, 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate soda in glass of purified water to alkalise the digestive system Oil pulling with coconut oil to draw the bacteria out of the mouth and gums, whiten teeth, heal gum disease and gingivitis, bad breath and even prevent cavities worsening 1 teaspoon of flaxseed and psyllium husk in a glass of water to attach to the toxic molecules and draw them out and scrub clean the digestive system....... 18.01.2022 There’s nothing like a cup of warm veggie stock on a chill winter’s day I was brought up to not waste a thing as a child, and considering one area I will spend money is quality (organic where possible) natural, unprocessed foods, I really try and use everything. Stocks are great for all your left over kale storks, fennel cores, carrot tops, ginger peels, onion skins etc. If I’ve been cold pressing juice I even use all the fibrous byproducts one would normal throw away. Put... in all in a slow cooker with some water and dried herbs and good quality salt, and let it do it’s thing over night or before you leave for work so when you come home in the evening the house smells delicious and inviting. You can use the broth as a base for sauces and soups and adding liquid to cooking. Wonderful for easy digestion of lots of macronutrients, optimising guy health and restoring wellbeing. 12.01.2022 Break-fast After a water or juice fast it’s important to introduce food slowly, and with the right sort of foods. Your digestive system is rested and will super clean so you don’t want to be suddenly throwing down a whole lot of heavy processed foods. Start light, a vegetable juice, some red papaya or other single fruit perhaps with some lime juice or mint leaves, salads, soups and lots of leafy greens are the best way to go for a few days, introducing more dense or harder... to process foods after a week or so. This way you will not go stacking straight back on any excess weight you may have lost and will stimulate your digestion to break down optimally what you do intake. Most importantly chew your food, even your juices, as digestion first starts in the mouth with saliva production alerting the stomach to prepare for food. Take your time, enjoy and savour each mouthful. Appreciate the textures and flavours and sensations you can feel. The psoas muscles are coined the muscles of the soul in yoga, as it’s where we often hold tension and emotional stress and if not released can lead to disease within the body. Raising the arms up and, if possible, deepen the opening with a slight backbend which creates even more length, stimulates the... digestive and respiratory systems and massages the kidneys and adrenals, which in turn balances hormones.
