01.01.2022 There has been a lot of love for our SSB this year, great to top it off by being included in Matthew Jukes 100 Best Australian Wines 2019/2020. www.matthewjukes.com thank you. In the notes: A first appearance for Lenton Brae in the 100 Best, these guys are acknowledged SSB specialists and I have always liked their wines and so it is superb that Private Cellar has stock for us all to enjoy. In 2018, this wine is a soaring triumph with exactly the right balance between peashoo...t and jasmine freshness, and accompanying aromatics, and mesmerising palate juiciness. It is so difficult to get this combo right because if you are one step to the left you encourage veggie notes and one step to the right there is always sweatiness and other nasties, which some mistake for complexity, but which I cannot abide. 2018 Lenton Brae is laser-focused and also morerish, each sip willing the next and I know that 100 Best fans will adore this forward-drinking wine. There are always a few newcomers to the 100 Best Roadshow who ask for a Sauvignon Blanc. I make the obvious joke about them being at the wrong tasting and send them straight to the Semillons and lighter Rieslings. This year, they can sit atop this Brae and admire the view. See more
