24.01.2022 To everyone out there trying to combat the negative effects of the chair! Here are three dynamic movement patterns to keep you mobile, strong, and stable! This is the first of a 3 part series where i will be exploring the squat, downward dog, and crab (anti-chair) positions, and their huge benefits. LETS MOVE! 1.) Frog - is an excellent moving squat pattern, that brings strength to the shoulders, is a great handstand prep warm up, and allows you to sit in a deep squat for a ...long period without realising. 2.) Bear walk - this pattern is an opposite limb crawling pattern, it forces you to think whilst moving, increasing neural drive, you also get fantastic benefits of stretching your entire posterior (backline) chain, excellent for opening up tight hamstrings, calf muscles, and releasing tissue around the lower back/pelvis, it also brings great shoulder flexion benefits. 3.) Crab walk - this position is excellent for avoiding slouched-chair-postrue, immediately you will feel your chest stretch, your shoulders must open (externally rotate), and your pelvis is below your knees, this is fantastic medicine for long periods spent in the chair, please note to create space between the ear and the shoulder, as well as looking midway between the sky and the floor (the rising sun). These patterns will keep you mobile, increase cognition, add stability, and increase active range of motion to your joints.

16.01.2022 Day 2 of move well with Lenny 1.) Squat with Rotation - this is a type 1 thoracic mobiliser, it moves the mid part of your spine in ways that it should be moving, when we're stuck in a chair your hips don't go below your knees, and your spine is immobile, here's a wonderful solution to beat the chair and increase mobility. 2.) Downward dog W Rotation - this reach and spinal rotation (type 1), builds single arm vertical strength, opens up the entire chain on the backline of... your body, and will stretch those tight hamstrings. 3.) Crab Reach - an absolute favourite, this movement allows your hip joints to extend, getting you out of that seated hip flexed position, the reach adds a type 2 thoracic movement, this movement combined with any of the above patterns will aid in mobilising your spine, shoulder and hip joints, it also builds core strength, and single arm stability.
