25.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR Let’s set intentions rather than resolutions ... ... Thankyou all for my 2020 .., I am eternally grateful for the year that was See more

24.01.2022 So this is what he says to me on Sunday. No, it's not some bizarre porn movie. Random phrases like this, and "just lie down and i will do it to you now" are commonplace in my house since David has started his Remedial Massage & Myotherapy Diploma! I chuckle to myself every time these gems are said. It's definitely a bit of a laugh amongst the stress at our house currently. #studentlife... I literally don't have time to lie down and have a rub up to be honest as I have a few things cooking behind the scenes. Want to know what that is? Well, we are expanding at Harvesting Health - to bigger premises, with a workshop room, a body work room and of course, the consult room. We have been shopping to deck out our new space and can't wait to show it off at the end of October. Please let me know of anything you have seen that made you feel welcomed in an allied health clinic and I will be sure to consider it until the money runs out

24.01.2022 How many times is too many? "I'm worried I poop too much" Yes, I have heard this in clinic. How much is too much? How much is too little?... Did you know that less than 40% of the population poop daily? (according to Wellbeing Mag) and I would probably agree. However, just because you fall into this 'statistic' doesn't mean it is all 'hunky dory'. You actually run the risk of becoming a different 'statistic'. Chronic disease is the leading cause of illness & death in Australia. 50% of Australians have at least one chronic disease. Yep, there's the statistic i was alluding to! If you 'got rid of the rubbish' (as one of my clients puts it) on a regular basis, your chance of chronic disease would be less. How much is too much? To be honest, I am happy with 2-3 times a day. Let's face it you eat 3 times a day, there will clearly be rubbish to get rid of. When we don't poop regularly, waste sits in the lower intestine & toxins are reabsorbed into the body ..... chronic disease If you were to put waste matter in a warm environment, it putrefies (it decays & rots) - this is not what you want inside you. Our body is designed to rid itself of waste - our lungs (exhalation), our kidneys (urination), our bowels (poop) and our skin (sweat). So, you don't poop every day, but you suffer with sinus, hayfever, rashes, heavy menstruation? The body is just trying to rid itself of waste. If your body is not pooping every day (ideally more than once) then you need to visit your naturopath or nutritionist to put it right.

24.01.2022 Essential Oils. Not for the faint-hearted I love all things natural, however, I do ask my clients to practice caution when using essential oils... Aromatherapy can be an amazing tool in natural healthcare - lavender lowers cortisol, diffusing blends of ginger, spearmint & peppermint relieve nausea and topical application of tea tree & oregano are useful for tinea & dandruff. Notice the words 'topical' and 'diffuser'. Essential oils are not for ingesting. The safety of essential oils have been compromised by poorly trained sales reps for MLM companies. Ingesting EO's leads to greater absorption by the gastric mucosa & increases the chance of interaction with meds or causing allergies or toxic reactions. "Overuse actually leads to lasting problems - once you become sensitized you will forever be allergic to it" states a leading dermatologist in USA. In fact, you don't have to swallow EOs to have a reaction. Citrus oils can cause chemical burns when skin is exposed to the sun. (A lady using lemon EO in water and in her laundry had this issue) Peppermint oil in mouthwash has caused sores in people's mouths. Just because it's natural, doesn't mean its good for us. Essential oils can enter the placenta & affect the unborn baby even just by being applied to pregnant mum's skin or via inhalation. The FDA in USA issued a warning about EO use in 2014 and our TGA here in Australia does not condone ingestion of EOs for good reason. To be honest, if dabbling in natural 'medicines' you really should consult with an accredited professional. For safe EO use, consult with a qualified aromatherapist, not what someone 'selling' a product tells you.

22.01.2022 No, you did not get this chronic condition by chance. You were not plucked at random from the crowd Did you know that .... When we suppress our emotional needs to make ourselves 'acceptable' to other people it increases our risk of chronic illness?... Emotional shutdown & protection avoids anxiety & blocks the experience but NOT the physiology of it. In other words, when we cannot express our feelings - we swallow them - we keep them inside and this WILL create disharmony & disease. 'Psychological influences make a biological contribution to chronic disease onset through the interconnections linking the components of the body's stress system (nerves & hormones), the immune system and the brain where emotions are perceived & processed.' Gabor Mate Would you expect a child to thrive, if it was withheld love? Why then would you?

22.01.2022 When Common Becomes Normal I’m really concerned I poop too much. When I ask how often they go to the toilet, they say sometimes THREE times a day!. Honestly, if you eat three times a day, it would be ideal to poop three times a day. As one of my older clients once said it is like taking out the rubbish. When we eat, the nutrients from food are absorbed and the rest (the bulk & the toxins the rubbish) is released by the body.... If the rubbish is not released by the body, it recirculates eventually causing a range of health issues. Similar goes for periods. Common doesn’t mean Normal. Period pain is common. That doesn’t mean it is normal. If you have period pain, beyond a stretching muscular pain in the lower back, it means you possibly have a hormone imbalance. Heavy or lengthy periods are common, that also doesn’t mean they are normal. I often say to women in my clinic Imagine being ancestral woman, running around in the wild, bleeding like a stuck pig, with wild animals around do you really think that is how it was? So, just saying COMMON DOESN’T MEAN NORMAL.

22.01.2022 Can you guess what this us a picture of???

20.01.2022 This is Caitlin She is one of our Nutritionists at Harvesting Health Caitlin has a special interest in the role of Nutrition when recovering from cancer.... Have you got a burning question for Caitlin? If so, why not book a DISCOVERY CALL with her TOMORROW while she is in clinic? How can you do this? Via this link https://HarvestingHealthBookings.as.me/

19.01.2022 So, this is what he says over coffee this morning! Oh, have I offended you? is the next line. The look on my face was priceless! Lucky I am thick-skinned! However, although I am by no means obese, I have developed a little extra padding over my gut. Why has this happened recently? Stress let me explain how this works.... Think of Ancestral Man (you know I love to bang on about him) the largest amount of stress he encountered was being chased by a wild animal, and seriously, that didn’t happen too often because if it did, he surely would not have survived. When in this ‘stressed’ state, the glucose is shunted to the skeletal muscles there is no need for digestive processes or reproduction. This is why stressed people have no appetite and explains the high incidence of infertility nowadays. With Ancestral Man, this type of stress was short lived a burst of extreme adrenalin. However, in modern-day society, stress is low-grade, but continual. Bills to pay, deadlines to meet, hurdles to overcome. We also ‘glorify being busy’ which is counter-productive to good health. The glucose is shunted to the skeletal muscles over and over again. This is also why you can exercise like a Trojan, limit your calorie intake and sometimes not budge a kilo. The body was designed to shunt the glucose to muscles for a quick getaway. It does not distinguish between different ‘stressors’, it only knows the one mechanism of action stress is stress to the body. Let’s face it, it wasn’t designed to deal with this rubbish it encounters today. However, one thing to note here - we are in control of the stress we place on ourselves. Back to my pudgy tummy as he pointed out so kindly. Running two clinics, completing post-grad study, now being prime income earner has been my ‘low-grade stress’ and the reason for the pudgy tummy. What to do? Create balance. It doesn’t have to be equal (5 days work, 5 days rest) but it does have to happen. Frenetic exercise is not creating balance it is more stress. Picture this. I have to set my alarm to get up at 5.30 to get to the gym (or bootcamp) so I can be ready for work (which lasts all day or longer), then the kids, dinner, bed. Sounds like stress to me. What am I going to do about balancing my stress? Socialising & laughing with friends, sitting on the beach, quiet bushwalks, 2 foundational yoga classes a week . What won’t I do? Diet food is not the issue here stress overload is. What do you do to create balance in your life?

19.01.2022 FOOD CRAVINGS? Who hasn't been on a diet & craved the 'naughty' foods. Actually, you probably 'bust out' on bread, cakes, chocolate or hot salty chips quite regularly? So, how come?... When we are on a diet we tend to limit the amount of food or restrict certain types of food. When the body is NOT receiving the minerals, vitamins and phytonutrients it needs, it will 'ask' for more. Hence the cravings. The body can't say to you "I need fat, or magnesium" specifically. Gee that would make life easier wouldn't it? Instead the body says "I need more" and the more we reach for is usually the food that gives us quick instant energy - usually those carbohydrate or sugar laden foods that are what we crave. Do you get it now? We crave and bust out because we are not feeding the body what it needs. Rather than dieting, restricting food or counting macros, if we ate foods intuitively, using foods that nourish us..... we would likely not have the cravings that are our downfall. Do you think ancestral man restricted food? No he ate everything that NATURE provided.

18.01.2022 Summer is just around the corner. On the Gold Coast you can feel it heating up. School holidays approach and I am sure these tartlets will definitely be a healthy sweet treat hit! STRAWBERRY & CHOC MOUSSE TARTLETS... Crust- * 1 cup almonds * 1/4 cup pitted dates * 1 tsp butter * 2 tbsp raw cacao powder * 2 tbsp cacao nibs (optional) MOUSSE - * 1 banana * 1 ripe avocado * 1/2 cup raw cacao powder * 1/4 tsp sea salt METHOD - Blend together the mousse ingredients and set aside in fridge. Blend together crust ingredients and press into silicone muffin moulds. Fill crust with mousse, top with fresh strawberries Devour!!!

16.01.2022 I feel like my body is letting me down. This is a phrase I hear a lot in my clinic. However, if you rephrase that to I feel like I’m letting my body down, it may actually be a truer statement. The body was created or designed to respond to a certain life. Man’s original life I like to talk of ancestral man as it encompasses everything biblical, evolutionary, caveman and the rest. In ancestral man’s time his body only had to respond to minimal stress. As I say to many of... my clients, ancestral man built a couple of homes (maybe he relocated, fire, flood that sort of thing), hunted a couple of times a week and the rest of the time he just hung out with family and friends or had sex and made babies. The body was used to this chilled existence. Nowadays, life is not so chilled, food is not so clean, air is polluted, soil is depleted, we have created plastic and other environmental chemicals. We glorify being busy, we have debts, deadlines, domestic violence and other modern-day stress. Our body doesn’t know how to respond because it was never designed for such issues. In our quest to be advanced, we have caused more chronic illness. It isn’t fair to blame our body, when we are the ones that have created the problem. Our body is only responding as it was designed to. Our body’s main objective is to preserve life and it does this very well. Most diseases we encounter is as a result of the body doing everything in its power to keep us going. So often the disease state is merely a symptom of a greater problem a message from our body to clean our shit up. We have the ability to modify the disease contributors and help our body regain its health. This is where both Naturopathy and Nutrition have a role to play. By identifying and reducing our exposure to the ‘triggers’ and repairing or modulating certain chemical pathways, we can help our body get back its equilibrium.

15.01.2022 In clinic I am seeing more and more people of all ages affected by COVID. No, not from the disease, but from the sanctions and restrictions put in place by our respective governments and the fear-mongering that is growing out of control. This virus will not decimate the nation, but the mental health repercussion will definitely have their impact. We need to think rationally and logically about what is happening around us. Have you stopped to do the math? Have you stopped to ...think with reason? Your physical health is very much intertwined with your mental and emotional wellbeing and this, my friends, is battered by sensationalism and inaccuracy. I actually urge you (for your health) to NOT buy into all the media surrounding COVID https://www.theaustralian.com.au//b403b6fa3b30879654a80d8e

15.01.2022 I believe natural healthcare should be affordable to all. ... Health Fund Rebates apply to the Nutrition component of every consultation ...... Our first consultation is finding out everything about you - your current health concern your previous health history symptoms and systems relating to those medications diet and lifestyle sleep habits family health history herbal remedies and nutraceuticals are then prescribed ... This consultation lasts about 90 mins for obvious reasons... there’s a lot to learn about YOU ... Our second consultation is 2-3 weeks later and is where we review and tweak your remedies, your diet and tackle any other obstacles you’ve encountered in that time. .. The third consultation is where if the MAGIC hasn’t happened already - it will now . This is where we make a plan that fits with you, going forward .... We decide the time and cost you can afford depending on if your health issue is situational or chronic ... Your time with a natural health care practitioner should not cause you added stress. Goodness knows you probably put your health on the back burner for financial reasons in the first place

15.01.2022 Happy Friday Everyone is on a diet now its warmer .....

14.01.2022 This week's funny Friday

14.01.2022 Not one of us went from ZERO TO HERO with our health. So many clients I see have unrealistic expectations of themselves. ... In fact, setting such high ideals, will ultimately lead to a 'fall from grace' and kicking yourself. Then, usually we stop giving a SH*T and go back to our old ways. There is always a journey on the way to better health - don't ask too much of yourselves. In fact, I generally only ask three changes from each client. Usually, we 'swap out' the devil for something a little more angelic. Be kind to yourself - one small change can make a world of difference. What would you choose to change for better health (emotionally or physically)?

14.01.2022 Welcome to Harvesting Health A few new people have joined our page and I thought I should explain what exactly a Naturopath does. A Naturopath is a degree-qualified health practitioner who uses nutrition, herbal medicine and lifestyle tweaks to bring about a return to health for those people who have lost their SPARK!... It's not as simple as googling 'a healthy diet' as one size does not fit all. Health is not a cookie cutter approach as we all come with different complexities that make us unique. It is important to understand disease pathology, human biochemistry & physiology to create lasting change. It is not all about me and what i want, it is actually about YOU and your ability to embrace new ways. Treatment plans should be realistic & achievable. It's not all mung beans, lentils & meditation. It needs to become a way of life - YOUR life. Two stand out differences in my clinic are that I have a fully equipped herbal dispensary onsite (yum yum!) and I have now completed my post-grad nutrition so I can offer you private health rebates for nutrition consults. The best of both worlds! I am lucky - I love what I do & I do what I love. So much so that I am about to share my time helping teach the next generation of student naturopaths at Endeavour College of Natural Health a couple of days a week! Rest assured I will be still conducting clinic on the other days. Welcome aboard new people!

13.01.2022 Seems my reputation precedes me. A very good friend of mine was referring a work mate to me. This is what she said (quote) "she's no bullshit and can ruffle feathers but she knows her shit. So trust what she says and you'll get results" ... Yep. Me in a nutshell. No I won't sugar coat it and no, I will not be your 'enabler' However I WILL empower you with education & knowledge I WILL give you the truth. I WILL create a treatment plan that is realistic (with your input) I WILL then expect you to stick to it then, I WILL support you on your journey and TOGETHER we WILL make the changes you need to regain your health. I can only guide you. The outcome depends on you. Leone Harvesting Health

13.01.2022 As we come to the end of a very extraordinary 2020, I want to ask you all .... "What was your finest achievement?" Although 2020 was a year like no other, it wasn't all doom and gloom. In fact, many of my clients could see the benefits of lockdown, the benefits of having to look inward. Others, not so.... For me, my finest achievement in 2020 was to create the Harvesting Health Hub. My holistic healing space, a space to build a 'community'. It is something I am grateful for every day I spend in clinic. Tell me, what are you grateful for this past year?

11.01.2022 I find it interesting some people's idea of 'clean eating'. Perhaps it is more a social media thing, but many people are actually eating worse by trying the some so-called 'clean eating' regimes. I have clients who are vegans who have not been educated to understand that there are chemicals in both grains (phytates) and raw greens (oxalates) that can cause serious health problems.... Many grains and vegetables are sprayed with pesticides that other countries have banned. It does stand to reason that if you are having more of these foods there could be problems - bye, bye 'clean eating'. Many of our non-vegan food sources such as salmon, beef, etc are fed grains and hormones to 'fatten them up' for sale by weight. Bye Bye 'clean eating'. As you can see vegan or non-vegan, 'clean eating' is a cliche that people might use to coerce you into a certain way of eating. To be honest, it is not about the type of FOOD, rather how it is farmed or sourced. Let's think of Ancestral Man again - why? because that is how we were designed and with that diet we will nourish our body and function well. * He hunted and killed and cooked or dried the meat for times where meat was scarce. * He fished. * He gathered nuts and berries/ fruits. He didn't learn to farm until later. Pretty simple, very clean. The difference? He didn't farm his meat - he ate wild animals that were 'grass fed', rather than grain fed. He caught fish that were wild caught, not farmed. He ate what nature provided, not farmed and pesticide laden. That is CLEAN EATING

11.01.2022 The weather is balmy in QLD! Time to replace the porridge with.... PINA COLADA CEREAL... * 1/2 cup rolled rice * 1 cup cocoquench or coconut cream * 1/2 tsp sea salt * 1/4 cup Jalna Biodynamic yoghurt * 1/4 cup pineapple juice * 1/2 cup crushed pineapple * 1 large peach or mango, chopped * 2 bananas, chopped * 1/3 cup macadamias, crushed * 1/3 cup freshly grated coconut * 1/2 cup goji berries Place the rice, salt, milk and water in a saucepan and slowly bring to the boil. Simmer until it is a similar consistency to porridge Cool slightly Place all ingredients in a glass bowl and mix Serve chilled with pineapple juice mixed with coconut cream or milk. Devour!

11.01.2022 Recently, I have met a handful of children who have done the rounds with doctors because they are experiencing a sore tummy followed by altered bowel motions. They also have a tendency to mid section weight or bloating alongside a new 'puffiness', particularly around the face. Often these kids have a voracious appetite.... sometimes missing a 'satiety' button!... With one young girl, I examined her fingernails and could see vertical ridging. Vertical ridging on the nails is a sign of poor protein absorption. This can be from a 'sick' tummy where the membranes lack their ususal integrity, or low stomach acid to break down protein's peptide bonds. It can also be because the child is not getting adequate protein in their diet. These children, that I have seen with this problem tend to be grabbing carbs and sugars, but having very little protein or good fats. Did you know 'low albumin', causes oedema (puffiness) of the limbs and face? It also causes changes in appetite and body weight. Albumin is a simple protein. How to fix this issue? Reduce salt and increase protein intake. It strikes me that even in developed countries, I am seeing many people with protein deficiency.

10.01.2022 "I don't know, I don't look"..... says many a client when I ask about poo. Do you look? Can you imagine not looking and leaving a blood bath in the bowl? "Oh no doctor, I didn't realise that was a sign of colon cancer - I don't look".... So, presuming you do look - when is it a problem? * when it splatters & sticks to the bowl * when there's undigested food particles seen * when it floats like a boat * when there's blood or mucous * when its yellow, white or black * when you have to run to the bathroom * when it causes you pain * when you can't go, but need to When is it normal? * when it sinks like a submarine * when it is brown * when it is shaped like a sausage * when you go at least once a day * when you don't have to plan your life around toilet availability If you didn't look before, bet you look now!

09.01.2022 Happy Sunday! #selfcaresundays I have allocated Sunday as my self care day amidst a busy life in clinic and lecturing at Endeavour College.... Do you allocate some self care time for you? I think it is an ideal way to end one week and begin the next and that is why I have scheduled in YOGA at 4.45pm and MEDITATION at 6pm at our clinic in #oxenford It is essential to book as spaces are limited to a small group of 8 for yoga and 10 for meditation https://harvestinghealth.com.au/yoga-%26-meditation-classes I have even had some new signs made so you can find your way!! #yogastretching #meditationheals #healingspace #oxenford #coomerariver #helensvale #hopeisland

09.01.2022 SKINNY FAT Still talking calorie counting. How many people I see who have significantly reduced their calories and increased their exercise in the quest for weight loss.... When the body perceives starvation, it makes fat deposits for fuel later on. Yes. the 'skinny fat' syndrome! Many 'diets' are actually very low in essential nutrients and this puts the body under STRESS. Stress is a physical state as much as an emotional one When the body is under stress, it shuts glucose to skeletal muscles and this is why, try as you might, you can't lose that 'tummy'. Again, if we eat 'real' food - the body receives what nutrients it needs to do the jobs it must do. This shifts our metabolism into gear. Denying our body, most often results in 'skinny fat' - high fat/low muscle composition - even in skinny people!

09.01.2022 This is Christine. Christine will be joining Harvesting Health in early December, offering Reiki Sessions on Tuesday nights and Thursday nights. Starting Thursday 3rd December. To book with Christine, please call or text her on ... 0400 776 115 Or send me a DM

09.01.2022 Life is a lot like the washing...... You have to sort out the 'delicates' and treat them differently. In clinic, I sort out the delicates -... There is no use expecting that everyone is the same and should get the same treatment. Some people come with very low vitality, and can hardly stay awake through the consultation. Others come with a Type A personality and need to know all the ins and outs of everything. They are hyper and bouncy. Some need everything spelled out for them. Some totally lack compliance and need only a couple of simple steps to apply. Guess what? Everyone of these people are in the 'delicate' pile. They need to be treated carefully and only given what they can handle. Cookie-cutter treatments are not appropriate with healthcare, or should I say, 'person-care'

08.01.2022 Sometimes I look in the mirror & I'm like oh my.... look at that naturopath. Not really a poster girl for the profession to be honest! Why do we do this? How I look, sometimes tired, sometimes stressed or holding that cortisol tummy pudge doesn't actually reflect how intelligent I am. It should not determine my worth.... Why do we determine our worth by our image? Oh come on, I know you have done this. To be honest, when i was a much younger woman I actually knew that overweight people were not allowed to have fun. True story - i actually thought that. Why? Clearly my family were a little more shallow than many..... they always judged a book by its cover, a woman by her image. Any wonder I got Anorexia at aged 12? Many women I see in clinic these days still seem to live by this theory. So much importance is placed on how they look, or how much they weigh. I have seen some incredibly healthy women who are not slim like Twiggy. In fact, they carry a little extra weight, but have far better health than many of those who don't. How many times do you hear of the woman who was thin and lithe, who exercised every day and ate very carefully dropping dead at an earlier than expected age? Plenty!!! Women's health does not always equate with the image we have in our mind...... quite the opposite really. Yet still I will have cancer survivors come to me complaining they have put on a few kilos??? To be honest, in my opinion - A healthy woman always looks good (frazzled maybe at times, but good nevertheless). However, a good looking woman is not always a healthy woman. Quite often that image she portrays comes at a great cost. I often say to my female clients - "If you have an appetite for food & an appetite for sex, you're on the right track for health" Just think on that for a minute......

08.01.2022 Good morning. How many of you sat down to toast, porridge or cereal this morning? https://harvestinghealth.com.au//grains-should-we-or-shoul

08.01.2022 Perhaps it is not the body that is defective perhaps it is the system. Painful heavy periods, gaining weight for no reason, insomnia, depression, anxiety or pain? So often we are made to feel that painful heavy periods are the norm. That gaining weight or an inability to lose weight is our own fault. But is it?... We live in a system that is faulty. However, we wouldn’t know how to live without those faults. We embrace the faults with both hands. Love your wi-fi? Copious coffee? Easy convenience foods? Push yourself to achieve at work or sport? Love the versatility of plastic? Using beauty fillers? Nice perky breasts? Cosmetics? Self-medicating on alcohol or prescription drugs? Even healthy foods are sprayed with copious chemicals. The system is faulty and it takes dedication to make necessary changes. Have you ever thought about how you might be self-sabotaging your body without even knowing it?

08.01.2022 Simple as Calories In - Energy Out, right? NO WAY! Calorie counting has almost become a religion. ... I recently read a paper where the author states - "the more natural and unprocessed the food, the more it is probably being shafted by the calorie system". Nuts are a prime example of this. Too many calories, but so many health benefits! The calorie system was invented in the 1800's to measure thermal energy. One calorie was the energy it took to heat a kilogram of water by one degree Celsius. This was the era where leeches were still used to treat certain diseases, mind. So excuse me if I don't put a lot of trust in the results So how does this experiment apply to food? Different foods were 'burned' in a sealed container called a BOMB CALORIMETER whilst submerged in a vat of water. Love the name. The food burned to ash. The temperature of the water increased and this determined the calorific value of the food. Logical? Not to me Some say it is a flawed science that has been manipulated by the food industry. Fair point I believe. Food 'talks' to our cells. Real food talks in the same language as the body. Imagine being Australian and talking to someone speaking Hindu - this is likely how the body responds to 'processed foods'. Nobody understands each other and there is no useful communication. And now we wonder why we cannot lose weight? Or have developed chronic disease conditions? https://elemental.medium.com/the-calorie-myth-f9e5248daa0c

07.01.2022 Women's Health Week HOW WONDERFUL TO CALL OURSELVES WOMEN Yet many women tell me, "I don't feel comfortable having a period"... We need to bleed as much as we need to ovulate. We are capable of bringing forth life. We actually ensure the human race continues. That, my friends shows our worth. Women's health is about knowing this, embracing this, being proud of this. We are not dirty, we are not unclean. We are amazing - rejoice in what your body is capable of.

05.01.2022 These are my products - not that I advocate them over others, these are to make a point. Both have charcoal in them - one is soap, the other deodorant. Why did i buy them? Because they were cheap and not harmful. However, charcoal can be harmful. ... The Mayo Clinic says "activated charcoal should not be used without medical supervision". Why? Well Emergency Depts in hospitals use activated charcoal in poisoning cases. Those people who swallow poisons from the garden shed or under the sink. Activated charcoal 'binds' these poisons and helps escort them out of the body before the gut absorbs them. Imagine if you are having an activated charcoal latte, or bun, or dressing - do you think activated charcoal knows what to bind and what not to? Of course not! If you have an activated charcoal food product, it could well be 'binding' all the good gear in your food, like minerals and other nutrients. So, I urge you to think twice before you 'buy in' to the newest food hype - is it doing more harm than good? Are you paying for an unnecessary ingredient?

04.01.2022 It’s Women’s Health Week! In my opinion, women’s physical health blossoms when the garden of mental and emotional health is nurtured. I see defiant women who have turned their back on the stereotypical female roles. I for one, embrace the roles of nurturer, mother, partner, caregiver. I would not have chosen this profession otherwise.... I also see women who ‘have no voice’. These women may resent their role but feel unable to say so. I once was that woman. I see women who are born ‘earth mothers’ and I applaud them. If it wasn’t for mothers there would be no human race. Although not an ‘earth mother’, I loved my children no less. If it wasn’t for women who have contingency plans in place, the human race may have died out! We often hear women complain of not being respected enough, however I see women who do not respect themselves, and therefore do not command respect from others. Being a woman can be a tough gig, being a man can also. Being a happy human takes work and the emotional health of each of us is key, I believe. We blossom when we ‘gift’ to ourselves. Not material possessions but gifts of love, time, empowerment and authenticity. Being true to yourself is the greatest gift of all. What do you believe ‘being a woman’ is to you?
