The type of play children engage in and its p...urposes change over the course of childhood from infancy to adolescence. 22.01.2022 Do you know how to draw a (possibly gender-stereotyped) pirate? Watch our instructional video to hone your skills and reflect on the importance of challenging gender stereotypes during discussions with young children. We are proud to have participated in the Gippsland Freedom from Gender Stereotypes Film Campaign, organised by the Gippsland Centre against Sexual Assault. Check out their page to see the other seven community videos created for the campaign.

21.01.2022 Good afternoon everyone, I hope that you have all had the opportunity to enjoy some of today’s fabulous winter weather. We are having lots of questions about mask wearing. I don’t have all the answers, and due to the nature of this pandemic, there may be some shift on the current advice, which is:... All educators, staff, parents and people aged 12 and over (excepting 12 years old currently enrolled in primary school) must wear a mask to and from LCC and within LCC. Educators are excluded from wearing masks when caring for and educating young children due to the inability to interact appropriately (however should a staff feel more comfortable wearing a mask they will be allowed to do so). Families must wear masks to deliver and collect children. Children aged 2 and under should NOT wear masks. These are considered dangerous and may be a suffocation or strangulation risk. Children aged 3 12 can wear masks if families so choose. Please note that if this is your family’s choice then the mask must be supplied by the family. Please refer to the DHHS information regarding masks. This information explains how to use mask (both disposable and reusable) https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/face-coverings-covid-19 Thank-you for continuing not to send sick children to LCC. Our other families and all the staff and educators are very thankful. Have a great weekend everyone!

18.01.2022 Today is National Educators Day. To all the amazing educators, but especially the team at LCC, you are AMAZING! Currently working through a pandemic with little concern for yourselves, but plenty for the children’s, their families and our community. Day in and out you work tirelessly in the best interest of the children. We are so much more than just ‘Child care!’ Thank you today and every day!

15.01.2022 Welcome back everyone, we hope you had an enjoyable Christmas and we wish you all the best for 2021. We are now welcoming families back into the centre. We ask that you assist us to keep our environment safe by: ~ Wearing a mask at all times while indoors ~ Sanitise your hands upon entry to LCC and to each room ~ Socially distance at all times when at LCC... ~ Do not attend if you have any Covid 19 symptoms such as dry throat, fever, tiredness, aches and pains, sore throat etc. ~ If you have any symptoms please get tested and isolate until you test negative. ~ We also ask that only one person per family enters LCC to drop off and collect ( this assists us with contact tracing and ensures you are able to socially distance) ~ We are also currently recording children’s and educators temperatures If you have any questions, please ask an educator or Paula.
