13.01.2022 SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL.... .... but she didn't know what that meant. When she was a little girl... they told her she was beautiful but it had no meaning in her world of bicycles and pigtails and adventures in make-believe. Later, she hoped she was beautiful as boys started taking notice of her friends and phones rang for Saturday night dates. She felt beautiful on her wedding day, hopeful with her new life partner by her side but, later, when her children called her beautiful, she was often exhausted, her hair messily tied back, no make up, wide in the waist where it used to be narrow; she just couldn't take it in. Over the years, as she tried, in fits and starts, to look beautiful, she found other things to take priority, like bills and meals, as she and her life partner worked hard to make a family, to make ends meet, to make children into adults, to make a life. Now, she sat. Alone. Her children grown, her partner flown, and she couldn't remember the last time she was called beautiful. But she was. It was in every line on her face, in the strength of her arthritic hands, the ampleness that had a million hugs imprinted on its very skin, and in the jiggly thighs and thickened ankles that had run her race for her. She had lived her life with a loving and generous heart, had wrapped her arms around so many to to give them comfort and peace. Her ears had heard both terrible news and lovely songs, and her eyes had brimmed with, oh, so many tears, they were now bright even as they dimmed. She had lived and she was. And because she was, she was made beautiful. This has hit a similarity in my personal life

13.01.2022 Hey Australia! BREAKING NEWS from the NDIS this afternoon. It's official, we CAN buy a device using NDIS funding! NDIS participants CAN use their funding only in these circumstances.... You need it for your supports like therapy or personal support during this period You have something in writing from the provider to confirm you need it It must be the "lowest specification" that will do the job You don't already have something that will do the job You don't already have something that has been funded by another system (such as education). This will be the policy for the next five months with a review in June. The details are officially on the NDIS website is here: https://www.ndis.gov.au//4758-further-initiatives-support- The frequently asked questions are here : https://www.ndis.gov.au//participants-co/using-your-budget Make sure to read the details on the link before purchase or check with your plan manager or LAC about eligible devices. 04.01.2022 Breaking news out of the NDIS this afternoon ... The NDIA are making changes to their system over the weekend to make sure NDIS participants and their families have what they need to manage the impact of the Coronavirus. There's lots of info but here's the main points:... Plans will no longer end. If your plan is due to end soon and you still have not heard anything it will automatically extend for 365 days. You will not have to do anything - it will automatically extend for a year. If you have a plan review scheduled you will be called on the phone. If you are happy you can have a new plan for up to 24 months. If you don't currently have support coordination in your plan but would like to so you manage everything over the coming months you can use your core funding to pay for a support coordinator. There are now new line items in the price guide to pay for this. If you need more funds to do this you will need to ask for a review A new price guide was also released today to cover the new prices announced on the weekend (yes we heard you all groan) You can find all today's announcements here - https://www.ndis.gov.au/news/4676-covid-19-updates These are really really helpful changes that we are relieved to see. We know it doesn't solve lots of things for lots of people - but it is a great step forward. There will be more to come. UPDATE: There's another new page called "What happens when..." at https://www.ndis.gov.au//ndis-and-disast/what-happens-when - it has some new answers we've all been asking, but we'll keep seeking more answers. (Image description: A red rectangle with the words "Breaking News" in white capital letters. Underneath the words you can see the Every Australian Counts logo and the words "NDIS: Make It Work)
