20.01.2022 To kick off Science week we would like to share with everyone how to make Slime Making homemade slime is an easy and fun sort of science experiment to keep the kids busy. Once youve mastered the basic technique, theres no limit to the ideas you can come up with together. HOW TO MAKE SLIME... 100ml PVA white glue tsp bicarbonate of soda gel food colouring 1 tsp contact lens solution glitter (optional) Squeeze the glue into a mixing bowl (look for a bottle in a 100ml size if possible so you wont have to measure it out). Add the bicarbonate of soda and mix well. Add a drop or two of your chosen gel food colouring. Less colouring gives a pastel colour; the more you add, the brighter the colour. Mix until well incorporated. Add the contact lens solution and mix. The slime will begin to form, going stringy before coming away clean from the bowl into a ball. Once it has formed, take it out and knead it with your hands. It will be sticky at first but after about 30 seconds youll have a smooth and pliable ball. Add glitter at this point, if desired, and work in with your hands. Store in a pot with a lid. Happy experimenting!

16.01.2022 GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY At the beginning of last month the kindy children and their families were invited to donate something from their pantry to Geelong Food Relief. This came after Ruby, one of our kindy children told everyone she had donated a box of cereal to our community food pantry. We had conversations around kindness, giving, how others live, what others need, and how we can offer things we no longer need to those who really need it. ... On Friday, I finally got the opportunity to deliver all the amazing donations everyone made! Its so nice to give to others and know that we are helping to make a difference in peoples lives. 14.01.2022 Hitting the Tee In the Pre kindy, With the use of Recycled boxes, we were able to create a Colour matching game using coloured stickers and golf tees. The children would pick up the tee, and find the colour to match.... "Orange " said one of the children as he found the yellow tee and sticker, using our hand and eye coordination, The child would line the tee to the sticker and use the Hammer to place the tee in the box. 05.01.2022 Introducing our Educators.... Hi, Im Tiff and I have recently joined the team at Leopold Early Learning Centre as an assistant Educator. In 2019 I decided to make the change from looking after chickens to looking after children. I recently completely my cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care and would like to start my diploma sometime in the near future.... I have always been passionate about being hands on, a great role model and assisting people to achieve their goals and cant wait to work side by side with the other educators in creating wonderful open ended opportunities for your little ones to reach their developmental milestones. I live with my partner and 23 animals at home, no children as of yet, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends camping, 4wD and exploring places our beautiful land has to offer. 03.01.2022 Taking inspiration from daffodils Miss Darcie has been telling the children all about her garden and the amazing flowers she finds everyday. Earlier in the week, Miss Darcie decided to bring some flowers to show the class. The children were excited to see that some were yellow, pink and light purple, she then placed them in jars on the table, along with some paint of the same colours. She also added some green to help them paint the stems of the flowers.... The children painted a beautiful daffodil and some lovely pink camillias too. Its so nice to see the children take inspiration from their environment and practice their art skills.
