01.01.2022 Lucky to have a few of these for the lucky few: perfectly cellared older vintages of Nicholas Joly’s ‘Clos de la Bergerie’. Perhaps less famous than Joly’s single estate / appellation wine ‘Coulee de Serrant’, ‘Clos de la Bergerie’ is its riper, more generous sibling. It’s still considered one of the great wines of the Loire Valley and is from the tiny appellation (just 33 hectares) of Savennieres Roche aux Moines, where the marriage of schist and Chenin Blanc creates wines of indelible, pulsating intensity.
