24.01.2022 Be an Advertising Executive and design your Best Life What’s your favourite ad? I’m still loving those cute meerkats and the Trivago girl has a certain something. Good ads are incredibly clever, they tap into the feeling we consumers want to have or let us know that they’ll solve a problem. Using adorable meerkats and charismatic girls to lure us into a happy place makes selling the message ‘simples’. It certainly takes the sting out of laborious market comparisons for health... insurance and hotel accommodation. Why not design an ad to ‘sell’ your goals to you? Using the twin powers that drive us - pleasure and pain, what would your ad look like? What’s something you keep putting off but need to do (eg finances, relationships, nutrition, exercise, bookwork) What will keep happening if you don’t take action, what’s the cost to you over the next 3 years explore (low self-esteem, squandered health, debt) then go deeper again What will it feel like to take action and achieve your goal again brainstorm all the positives to build a huge bundle of appealing pleasure Now create your ad in brilliant high definition colour and surround sound a compelling ad to pull you towards your goal and away from those uncomfortable feelings. 21.01.2022 WHO’S TALKING TO YOU? I’ve been working with some amazing people this year and I’m loving it! I’m just blown away when people show up for coaching with a big hunger for change. Mostly, they’re fed up with their self-talk winning. That voice in their head that tells them all kinds of stuff putting the brakes on what their heart wants. The magic happens when we suss out what’s going on with the inner voice. In particular this year I’ve seen thrilling turnarounds; from being s...tuck and despondent they're becoming decisive about business decisions and passionately living a richer, bigger life. These incredible people have finally tamed a voice from their childhood and they're exhilarated by the shift. Do you observe your self talk; is your inner voice positive, encouraging self belief or is it continually tearing you down encouraging self doubt?

17.01.2022 I literally went into head scratching mode the other day when asked this deceptively simple question, ‘If you could pass on one tip, one learning from your Life Coaching experience, one gem that could make a positive difference in someone’s life, what would that be?’ Cue, much pensive fingernail raking of scalp! Well first off, nothing can compare with the unique exploration that happens in a one-on-one session, because coaching really is like peeling an onion, we absolutely ...do peel back the layers. And crucially, breaking open the inner ‘hidden’ layers is where the catalyst for real change lies. Strangely, even as a writer I struggle to clearly define Life Coaching. My best effort is that it’s a uniquely non-judgemental and supportive space filled with curiosity and collaboration to discover what it is you really want and a map to help get you there. It may even be the first time you’ve felt really listened to. I can’t speak for other coaches, I only know what my studies and experiences have taught me. Feeling almost content with the description, I decided there has to be two tips for today. Tip number one: FLEXIBLE GOALS. What is it in your life that isn’t how you want it to be? Is it something that can be changed in any way, including your attitude towards it? But more importantly, what is it that you DO want? After clarifying your desired outcome, ask yourself what will this give me? What is the feeling it will give me? So rather than setting your goal in stone, dig around the goal for the real gold. Be flexible. Tip number two: BELIEFS. We all have beliefs as our guidelines, when we live according to our beliefs we feel good. And when we don’t we feel crap! While we might be aware of ‘everyday’ beliefs like good health, family, kindness etc we all have many underlying beliefs running our decisions that are not quite so obvious. Pretty much all of my coaching clients have uncovered beliefs that have been holding them back in life and causing disempowerment. Many to a huge extent. Lovely, clever, intelligent people who had no idea they held these beliefs or more to the point that the beliefs were not even true. Yes that’s right, many beliefs we carry around for life are actually just made up in our minds. In that case why not live by a belief that empowers and enables? It just may help you attain a golden goal of say Peace, Happiness or Contentment. It’s a lovely spring day to ponder if any of your beliefs be out of whack with your goals?

16.01.2022 What is about a new year that gets us to thinking about how we’d like THIS year to be different? I’m tipping that by late January any flashy five-minute-wonder New Year resolutions are dust beneath your feet. Real change takes a shift in thinking, planning and commitment. And sometimes what we need is a coach to help us look at old issues or aspects of our life in a new way. Harness your new year energy to work through the change process by exploring and clarifying where you are now and where you want to be and developing motivation and strategies to get you there. And here’s my New Year change! This year, I’m thrilled to be adding Life Coaching to the wellbeing therapies on offer at the delightful ambience of Warrawee Wholistic in Balnarring.

11.01.2022 Sitting at the very heart of my role as a Life Coach is an open- mind, it’s key to knowing where you’re coming from. With study, training and practice it became... second nature to want to understand your world. Where you’re coming from, how you’ve come to be where you are, to believe what you believe. It’s a clear space to be in, a judgement-free zone where there’s no right or wrong. It’s my mission to know what it’s like to be you. I care about the life you’re experiencing. I’m not here to change you, I’d rather celebrate you for the amazing creation that you are. My vocation is to be beside you, and explore with you, doors that you might become curious enough to open. To wonder how life could be if you saw things differently, began to think differently. We’re all constantly evolving, yet too many of us live our entire lives unaware of the limitations of our thinking. It’s our own normal. Whether you’ve shared sessions with me and already experienced the surprise of thinking in a new way or you’ve yet to experience coaching with me, if you are finding these times challenging, or need a sounding board, or now have more time to think about your life as we emerge - I’m here for you.

10.01.2022 How is your Covid experience going? Each of us is experiencing this Covid19 situation in a personal, unique way. Each set of circumstances; family, work and where you live affects your experience. And then there's your personality; you might crave the energy boost and stimulation of being with others or you might find it restful to not be feeling that drop in energy in a group situation. And the chat going on inside your head; it can have a huge impact on how you come through... the sacrifices, restrictions and isolation of these times. If you observe the patterns of your thinking you might notice that your inner voice can be rather like taking in too many doses of the news each day. Doom and gloom. Try turning down the dial on that voice and mentally changing channels to an easy listening station and talk yourself up. Let’s all fill our heads with all the colours we can paint on our canvas when life opens up again. Crazy, happy, joyous fun things you've always wanted to do. Imagine your canvas if every day you add three new big, bright, bold and beautiful promises to yourself; visit a quaint country town, skydive, swim in the moonlight, chase up an old friend, learn the ukulele or learn a language. And if every promise on your list is a brilliant colour on your canvas, what a masterpiece of a life to look forward to! I’ll kick this off with tri-coloured toenails, over to you . . . .

08.01.2022 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - CHASING HAPPINESS What is happiness? If we cease to be forever chasing the elusive bluebird of happiness perhaps we will become aware of the beauty of the butterfly that already sits lightly on our shoulder. My favourite definition of happiness is 'Wanting what you have'. Bring your butterfly into your awareness by feeling gratitude for all that you have and see how your focus shifts. Happiness may come and go but finding true meaning in your life will truly sustain you.

Commencing this week I will be taking Saturday appointments at the clinic in Main Street Mornington. PHD has long been my go-to place for taking care of my health ‘naturally’. Today, I wish for you something to be passionate about in life; something that makes your eyes sparkle and brings a smile to your face. Something that makes a difference!
