This was one of the key findings of a recent review by Life Saving Victoria and Deakin FreelancingHUB on the social, economic and community benefits of the Australian Lifeguard Service across the 35 lifeguard patrolled sites in Victoria. Beachgoers rated the lifeguard service as highly important for public safety, and the presence of lifeguards was a key factor when decid...ing which beach to visit. Paid lifeguards operate on Main Beach and Eastern Beach from Boxing Day to Australia Day during the peak Summer season.
