25.01.2022 Last night at the Community Bank Forrestfield High Wycombe Bendigo Bank's AGM, the club was presented with $5390. This money will go towards the replacement and realignment of the dividing fence between Courts 2 & 3. The Community Bank Forrestfield High Wycombe is our Major Sponsor has supported the club for past four years and has now contributed over $25,000. They will look after all your banking needs.

24.01.2022 A little sad but the Rusty Returners program finished last night after 8 weekly sessions. Great to see the improvement in the group over the season. Even those who came one or two nights had heaps of fun. Hopefully we can organise another program next year. Monday night Cardio at 6pm is a similar format and has two more sessions before Christmas. Come check it out. $10 members paid cash on the night. Thanks to our great Coach Cameron Fenner Frontier Coaching and all who supported the program. Let me know if you want to be on the invite list for next season.

24.01.2022 Our junior tennis programme will be re-starting on Saturday 2 February 2019. This is for children aged from about 9 to 14 who have played a little tennis. We have games on court, short sets and socialise from 9am to 11am on Saturdays until 13 April. For visitors, the first week is free and then it is $5 each week. For juniors to join the club for the year ending June 2019 the cost is now only $15. We look forward to seeing you on Saturdays during the coming term. For more information contact Cora Brown (0407-199-288) or Patrick Rowland ([email protected] or 9291-9385).

24.01.2022 Another fun Christmas party with most of the usual suspects at the club. Lots of kids, after fun and games, excited about a socially distant Santa. Thanks to Dolly & Marg for organising the kids party with helpers Ann and Anne. Special thanks Santa (Ray) and transport provider David. Big kids kicked on with a hearty Christmas roast by chef Bill, with trimmings and deserts provided by so many others. Not too many fights at the Kris Kringle steal. Extra special thanks to Marg for so much work and another great party.

12.01.2022 Sorry folks, Lesmurdie Tennis Club is closed until further notice. Please do not enter the club grounds or facility. Our best wishes to everyone from the Committee, look after yourselves and each other. Remember to ring our friends in the tennis club who you may think might need that bit of extra assistance for shopping, running an errand to the doctor or pharmacy. We hope to see you all back playing tennis soon.

11.01.2022 Matthew Hughes MLA Kalamunda this month has joined our team of sponsors by purchasing naming rights to show court 7. Matthew joins our major sponsor Community Bank Forrestfield & High Wycombe Bendigo Bank and other court sponsors Racquet Shop, and SG Enviro in supporting tennis in our community and in particular supporting junior development at the club. (Direct links and contact details for all our sponsors are on our web page.)... Back in 2017, at his election to State Parliament, Matthew assisted the club in obtaining a $30,000 State Government Grant that was a major component of our new synthetic courts. I guess the fact that Matthew has paid up for three years means he will be seeking another term in March next year. We wish him all the best for next year and look forward to his continued support. I guess No 7 looks a bit scruffy - we have just given him a brand new No 7

11.01.2022 Dear Members and Friends, with the easing of COVID-19 social gathering restrictions, up to 10 people can gather to participate in non contact exercise. This means you can play social tennis at your own organising and risk. The club house will remain closed and no regular cleaning is being undertaken as the club is not hosting or organising any formal tennis. Please use good social hygiene practices and put all rubbish in the bins if using the tennis facility. Players are not allowed to sit around and socialise during exercise, go, play and leave. Enjoy your tennis and exercise.

11.01.2022 Social every Wednesday morning 9 am subject to the weather. Get down to the courts and get hitting! Welcome back

08.01.2022 Were back ! Organised tennis has recommenced. Wednesday Social at 9 am each week subject to weather and Thursday Night Intraclub at 7.15 pm each week for a 6 week season. 06.01.2022 Our major sponsor, Community Bank Forrestfield & High Wycombe - Bendigo Bank updated their logo earlier this year and have now provided new signage for the four... courts for which they have naming rights. Here's the new President pretending to remove an old worn out sign with a new one. In 2017, CBF&HW contributed $15,000 towards the costs of new synthetic courts 1 & 2 and $5,000 in 2018 for a motorised groomer to maintain them plus brand new nets for all our courts. We get great support from the team on the flats with our banking needs plus the little merchandising things we give out for prizes. We look forward to continuing our association for a long time into the future. The club does make provision to improve our facilities, but when we get support like we do from the Bendigo Bank it does allow us to maintain initiatives like supplying a free professional coach at Junior Club and low membership and playing fees. Watch out in October for our professional coaching Adult Beginner and Rusty Returners program starting Friday nights in October.

06.01.2022 Another fun night with the Rusty Returners and there were are few new ones. Many stayed for a fun social game and a hamburger meal with the regulars. I am told Fish and Chips is the menu this Friday. Places still available for this Friday - book via Facebook or Web page. Professional coaching for $10 hour. In the photo - future stars of the LTC all paying attention.

04.01.2022 Mugarameno School ZAMBIA - update. Many members and friends of our club supported fund raising efforts in 2018 to raise money for computer tablets in this remote African School. Fond memories of the group visiting the school in 2018. We have been receiving updates on the progress of purchasing, training and implementation from Natalie Black at Royal Zambezi Lodge who has been driving the project on site. Teacher training and accreditation has just been completed - so 800 kids share 12 pupil tablets (plus 2 teacher tablets). So is is hoped that the novelty of working on the tablets and chance to get sponsorship would encourage more kids to start showing an interest. Congratulations to all those involved.

01.01.2022 WA Tennis Shutdown in response to COVID-19 To the WA Tennis Community Instruction to cease, temporarily, tennis activity in Western Australia... Under the WA Government's Preventative Restriction of Activities Direction a person must refrain from undertaking or engaging in an affected activity. An affected activity includes a gathering of two or more people, who do not ordinarily reside at the same premises, for the purposes of participating in a sporting activity. As a result of these new measures, Tennis West is advising that all Tennis Clubs, Club Activities and Coaching Activities must cease operations immediately: All tennis clubs and centres are to close until further notice All tennis programmes and coaching be cancelled, including one-on-one coaching All club, association and social play be cancelled until further notice All public court hire bookings to cease Please note that under the Public Health Act 2016 (WA), it is an offence for a person to fail, without reasonable excuse, to comply with any of these directions, punishable by a fine of up to $20,000 for individuals, and $100,000 for bodies corporate. We know our community loves our sport and that many people are looking for ways to remain fit and active whilst adhering to very strict social distancing guidelines. We are also acutely aware that this directive will impact the livelihood of our valued tennis coaches. However, this is a government mandate, and needs to be strictly adhered to by our tennis community. We are exploring all appropriate options for resuming tennis in a safe way when health officials deem it safe. This pandemic and these exceptional circumstances will pass and we want to work with our partners to ensure tennis is back bigger and better than ever. This is a challenging time for everyone, please stay home and stay safe. Kind regards Michael Roberts CEO, Tennis West
