25.01.2022 Bonjour a tous! Sorry for the silence, i have completely lost track of what day of the week it is! I hope you are all keeping well and sane, and have had a chance to connect with loved ones and friends.... Here is a little story to share with your little ones. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Zj8FsRGHfI4 A la prochaine!

25.01.2022 Bonsoir à tous. I hope that everyone has been able to enjoy the lovely wet weather we have been having. And I hope any rain on Monday won’t keep you from joining us! We have been able to do some craft and sing some songs indoors and out, and there is plenty of space for a run inside the hall even when the weather isn‘t ideal. Next Monday we will be learning the months of the year. The new song for the week is: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2odJakoOVVI... We look forward to seeing you all soon! À lundi! See more

25.01.2022 Bonsoir à tous! We will be going for a walk tomorrow morning at 10am at Aranda Snow Gums Reserve, near the Glenloch Interchange. We will park at the Black Mountain Reserve car park and then follow the foot path towards the Cork Forest (at the Arboretum), but we'll cross over to the reserve at the stile to the right of the footpath.... The walk is suitable for prams with sturdy wheels and we can help each other pass them across the fence by the stile. There are lots of different things to explore at the reserve. We will be there until at least 11.30. I will keep an eye on this post tomorrow, and please let me know in a private message if you would like my phone number. Here is a French song about what I would like to be doing with my days: https://youtu.be/5NChs_N5Mw8 À bientôt ! Chrissie

24.01.2022 Bonjour à tous, We had a lovely, chilly meet-up last Monday next to Lake Ginninderra. This week we will hope for some sunshine next to Lake Burley Griffin. We will meet in Yarralumla at Weston Park at the bbq area on the Eastern side of the peninsula, opposite Yarralumla Play Station. There is plenty of parking, a toilet block and a beach for plenty of running. We will be there from 10.30am. We look forward to seeing you then!... À bientôt !

24.01.2022 Bonjour à tous ! Apologies for the late notice, but we have been greenlit to return to Ainslie Scout Hall from tomorrow. So please join us at our regular time (10am) and place from tomorrow for the rest of the year (restriction changes allowing).... We look forward to seeing all of you again soon. À demain!

24.01.2022 Saturday is fast approaching! Please have a look at our event for the baked goods stall we are running at the Alliance Francaise French market this Saturday. We look forward to hearing how you can help!

23.01.2022 We are happy to share the news that we are lucky enough to have another visit from Le Van du Livre next Monday 23/11. So be sure to come along to our regular playgroup meeting in Ainslie this Monday, if you would like to expand your French library at home. À bientôt!

22.01.2022 Bonjour à tous! And welcome to term two. I hope you all had a relaxing Easter and have survived the restrictions so far.... Unfortunately we still don’t have an idea of when we might be able to meet in Ainslie again, but in the meantime, as restrictions have loosened a little, remember to have a few one on one playdates! I have also thought it might be good to try a zoom meeting every Monday to start the week with a few songs and stories. Let me know what you guys think and we can set it up for next week. Here is a new song you can try, it has plenty of repetition, which should help with learning it: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WTT8gE79sBo A la prochaine!

22.01.2022 Bonjour à tous, I thought for this week’s meet-up, we can meet at Diddams Close Park on Lake Ginninderra (near Nengi Bamir beach). There is a playground, a public toilet (!), good riding surfaces and the possibility of a walk. We’ll meet at 10.30 again.... All welcome! We look forward to seeing you then. A la prochaine.

21.01.2022 Bonjour à tous. I have had a request to share a link to a favourite song in our home: 'Coccinelle demoiselle'. It is a song all about the ladybug and is a fairly easy song to learn that includes some hand movements too. Bonne journée! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDppIBSAnP4

15.01.2022 Bonjour à tous! Following the advice from ACT Playgroups and the recommendations regarding social distancing, we have decided to suspend our weekly meeting in Ainslie for the rest of term due to COVID-19 concerns. We do, however, know how important it will be in the coming weeks to have the support of our community, and therefore would like to encourage everyone to meet up in small numbers in parks for a chat, a play and a walk. If you do choose to meet up, please remember to... keep some physical distance where possible and to wash and disinfect hands frequently. It is also not advisable to have a shared snack for the time being. I will also continue to post weekly videos of French songs to our wall. And I encourage you to practice your French as much as possible with your little ones. In aid of your French practice, I will open our library at Ainslie Scout Hall from 10.00 - 12.00 this coming Monday 23/3. So please drop by with your $10 deposit (if it is your first time borrowing books) on Monday, to stock up for your story time in the coming weeks. If you currently have some of the LPE books at home that you have been meaning to return, now would be a good time to return them. If you are unable to come Monday morning, let me know and we can organise an alternate time. Hopefully we can keep ourselves as sane as possible in the coming weeks with the help of some songs, books and exercise. We will keep you updated on our status, but we hope to welcome you all back in the new term. We will confirm whether we go ahead as scheduled before the next term starts on 27 April. We look forward to welcoming you all back to playgroup as conditions allow. A la prochaine!

14.01.2022 Bonjour à tous, Another Sunday has rolled along and I am yet to post about our next walk. Apologies. As it is getting rather cold I thought it might be best to meet a little later, so we will meet at 10.30.... There was plenty of parking, a nice sunny playground and lots of flat surfaces to ride a bike/trike on, so I think we will return to Coombs at the Stromlo Cottage. Don't worry if you are running late, you can't miss us. We hope to see some of you there! Here is a classic song to warm up your mornings: https://youtu.be/wS1uofMBNoA À bientôt!

13.01.2022 Bonjour à tous ! Just a reminder that we will not be meeting next Monday as it is a public holiday. In honour of Canberra Day (and the return of the Skywhale...) , here is a little French video about drawing a hot air balloon. ... https://youtu.be/8WDFPJ-GCQY We look forward to seeing you all again on 16 March. Bon week-end !

12.01.2022 Bonjour à tous ! We will be going for a walk tomorrow morning in the cork forest at the National Arboretum (down the first right as you enter). We will be there from 10.00 to at least 11.00 for some nature play. If you would like to join us, please come along! We have been doing a lot of baking recently, so here is a song along that theme:... https://youtu.be/xMOs9xe0JIk À bientôt !

12.01.2022 Bonjour! The recommendation from ACT Playgroups Association at the moment are for playgroups to resume at the start of Term 3. We will keep you updated with a start date once we have confirmed with our venue too. Now that groups of up to ten are allowed to meet, let me know if you would like to meet at a playground or go for a walk at some of the many great nature spaces we have in Canberra, from from next Monday untill we can meet in Ainslie again.... Have a lovely Reconciliation day!

11.01.2022 Bonjour à tous! Just a reminder that we will not be meeting at Ainslie tomorrow or the week after, due to school holidays. But, as discussed on Monday, some of us will meet tomorrow at John Knight park’s playground in Belconnen from 10.00-12.00. Best access is via Aikman Drive, down Townsend place. It looks like it will be cool again tomorrow, so be sure to rug up! We will also meet the following Monday, weather allowing, this time near the Play Station in Yarralumla. À demain!

08.01.2022 Bonjour tout le monde. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you: the results of the survey are in! The most popular day and time for meeting up, is Sunday mornings. Most people wish to meet fortnightly, but joining in as you can is good too. We will therefore meet every first and third Sunday of the month, at 10am, starting in October.... We will try to meet at different playgrounds each time, and can decide on a location for the next meet-up each time we meet. As this is our first time meeting I have decided on a more central location so we will meet at Black Mountain Peninsula playground. Just drive right to the end of the peninsula, there is play equipment for young and older kids, lots of shade, a little beach and most importantly, a toilet block. Remember to bring hats, sunscreen, water bottles and snacks. We will forego the usual shared fruit snack, but you are welcome to share as you wish. I will also bring along some French books and we can read together, sing together or just converse, depending on what works best for us on the day. This will be an informal playdate rather than a playgroup and will continue as demand determines. We look forward to seeing as many of you as can make it, and please let other families interested in playing in French know too. À la prochaine!

08.01.2022 Bonjour à tous ! Even though we will not be meeting for the time being, I thought I would continue with our themes. So here is another song about food: https://youtu.be/kqhDzmerA0E... Bon week-end !

08.01.2022 Bonjour à tous. As Tuesday will be Mardi Gras - a day (or week) of costumes and parades all over Switzerland and other French speaking regions - I thought it will be fun if our theme for Monday is Mardi Gras! So please dress yourself and your kids up in costume, if you wish and join us for a little parade, some songs and some crafts. À demain! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPkXaykgbqM

07.01.2022 Bonjour à tous. We had a great time singing, reading, playing and crafting this week. The 'Mardi Gras' masks we made were a hit and my children have played with them all week! We look forward to seeing you all again next week. Bon week-end.

07.01.2022 Bonsoir à tous. We are up and running. We have returned to our premises in Ainslie for our weekly Monday meetings. Due to the pandemic we are taking a few precautions, including several hand sanitation stations around the hall, and a thorough clean and disinfection of all surfaces. We have continued to share our fruit snacks, but if you wish to opt out of this, please do not hesitate.... To celebrate getting back into the swing of things, and our lovely cold winter weather, we will have a pyjama party next week. Please feel free to dress your children, and yourself, in your most comfortable pyjamas and join us for some singing, dancing and popcorn. We will stay play outside if the weather and children allow, so bring a change of clothes along, if you wish. Here are some songs to get you dancing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVbbLXPdJKQ https://www.youtube.com/watch Have a lovely week and we hope to see you soon! À la prochaine! Chrissie

06.01.2022 We are in business! Come and support our French playgroup and enjoy a sweet treat!

04.01.2022 Bonjour à tous! I thought I would post earlier in the week this time to make sure everyone has a chance to see the post. We will try a nice easy walk in Coombs next Monday. It is the Water Wetlands walk (around the two ponds). We‘ll start from Stromlo Cottage car park at about 10am. This walk is pram-friendly and suitable for kids on bikes. There’s a section of dirt and gravel on the track, but it's pram accessible. The route is up to 4.5km return but we can decide on the day... how much walking the kids want to do. There’s a playground next to Stromlo Cottage where we can have a play and picnic too. We hope to see you then! À bientôt!

03.01.2022 Bonsoir tout le monde, Some of our members have expressed an interest in meeting on days other than Mondays. We only have access to the Ainslie Scout Hall on Monday mornings, but we can meet in playgrounds on alternative days. This would be on a more informal basis, but I am happy to coordinate it and help get it started. I have therefore created an online survey to determine when would suit interested members best. If you would like to meet over weekends please click on the ...below link, and answer the two questions, by 9 September. I will then let you know the results of the poll and we can go from there. https://surveyhero.com/c/44b0980f If a second weekday morning would suit you better, please let me know, and we can try and organise that too. This would also be informal playdates at playgrounds. Merci! We continue to meet every Monday in Ainslie. À la prochaine!

02.01.2022 Bonjour à tous! The theme for this week is food. For the craft this week I thought we could do a craft involving food. Here are two songs about vegetables: https://youtu.be/NTPQJUugCJM https://youtu.be/lOeC1oeXzk0... We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. A demain!
