20.01.2022 Still working on my other website http://www.ruralcontractors.com.au - trying to get more publicity going to attract more customers - and at the same time signing up a few new ones as I go. If you know any spray contractors out there that should be on the website, please let them know about it! Budget-priced advertising available on the website... Les Tanner, Bingara NSW

19.01.2022 This website is going well - Google and other search engines are now picking it up, and that's what we need! New spray contractors continue to sign on, and the more we get the more effective the website is going to be... Les Tanner

18.01.2022 I enjoy my work - the great outdoors, meeting landholders, inspecting properties, finding "new" infestations of noxious weeds - like this major patch of Harrisia Cactus hiding away on a private property west of North Star NSW... Awesome!

17.01.2022 To all spray contractors out there: Dow Agrosciences is now offering a guaranteed result on the use of Grazon Extra - subject to some basic conditions. Check out the details through their ads (LH column) on our websites North West Weeds (http://www.northwestweeds.com.au/) and/or Rural Contractors (http://www.ruralcontractors.com.au/). Sounds good! Les Tanner

15.01.2022 How about this method of weed control? One of the pics out of the "prickly-pear history" section included in this website - http://www.northwestweeds.com.au/prickly-pear-history/ Just as well someone invented better ways to do it or we'd all be dead! The caption reads "An early (and rather drastic!) method being trialled to clear prickly pear. Fumes from a boiling arsenic mixture drifting through the scrub! Moree Croppa Creek NSW area circa 1919. Photographer unknown."

14.01.2022 Local Land Services North West's field day last week went well. Visitors there to view on-going results of herbicide trials to find the right brews to treat Harrisia cactus.

09.01.2022 We hear more and more lately about the use of STEAM to treat weeds in environmentally sensitive areas - like urban streets, aquatic areas etc. So, I was interested to see this latest bit of gear from Quik-Spray - check it out at http://mailchi.mp/quikcorp/omb56xkkyl-1324505 - Les Tanner (North West Weeds)

05.01.2022 100 years ago prickly pear was taking over millions of hectares of central Queensland and north west New South Wales. Check out this important piece of history at www.northwestweeds.com.au/prickly_pear_history.htm

03.01.2022 Earlier this month I checked out a Velvet Tree Pear trial site we put down in June 2013 - Peates Road near North Star NSW. Some very interesting results, both with basal bark treatment using Garlon and diesel, and with no herbicide, just cutting the plants down to boost the effectiveness of the ever-present cochineal insects! I've recorded the results in images on our North West Weeds website - http://www.northwestweeds.com.au//velvet-tree-pear-trials/ Certainly worth a look - we have plenty of velvet tree pear in north-west NSW! PLEASE SHARE...
