25.01.2022 Long time staff member Tony Egan recently celebrated 30 years working at Lester & Son serving the Albury Wodonga Community. To commemorate this achievement Rothmore Forever Bears made a fox from a retired funeral suit, tie and white shirt that Tony had previously used. Two bears were also made with the excess material for the previous owners Andrew & Pauline Harbick and Darren & Julie Eddy. The years inscribed in the bears feet represent the years of their ownership. The fox’s name is Lester and the bears names are Harry and Charlie. Harry Lester was the founder of Lester & Son and Charlie Lester was his grandson.

18.01.2022 This week we had the funeral for Ian Moreland who was a member of the Brave Hearts Dragon Boat Club. Ian was a man who was generous with his time in helping others and had joined the Club without being a cancer sufferer. Sadly, just 3 months ago he was diagnosed with the disease. With current restrictions in place for funerals it meant that many who wanted to attend could not. Local Dragon Boaters formed a guard of honour with their paddles pointed to the skies in respect. Ian was also a member of Minis on the Murray Car Club. His son Brett led the hearse through the guard of honour in Ian’s Mini.
18.01.2022 Each year just prior to ANZAC day the local War Widows Guild place small wooden crosses containing the name of a loved one lost to wars in a field of remembrance in Albury. Following ANZAC Day they are gathered and given to us at Lester and Son were we attend to having them cremated for a scattering service attended by the war widows themselves. This years’ service was presided over by Major Graham Docksey OAM (retd) President of the Albury sub branch of the RSL and after the... saying of the Ode and the playing of Last Post and Reveille, the crosses ashes were scattered around the Cross of Sacrifice in Albury. Lester and Son are proud and honoured to be involved with this simple but most moving tribute to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to our country.
